Leicester! What a weekend.

At 10:30 on the Saturday morning there were no race aircraft to be seen. The weath-er on Saturday morning was atrocious, with low cloud, rain, wind and bad vis., everything associated with a cold front passing through.

But as if by magic, the clouds separated to reveal a blue sky and the race planes began to arrive.

Seven planes landed, and with a delayed start, a great race weekend began.

Lady Gretton graciously of-fered to start the Saturday race for The Beverly Snook Memo-rial Trophy. After starting last years race, I think Lady Gret-ton has caught the aviation bug! We thank her very much

for her time and support. The Chairman of Leicester

Aero Club, John Ainsworth , made us very welcome indeed. He offered his services as tro-phy presenter and we must thank him and all his team at Leicester Airport for all their help, hospitality and great fa-cilities.

The refreshments were up to their usual high standard and the logistics of transport to the hotel and general race facilita-tion could not have been han-

dled better by the Leicester Aero Club crew. Thanks every-one!

The Sunday race found fa-vour with the weather and the battle for the City Livery Trophy was on. After a very tight and competitive race, the presen-tation ceremony was held in-doors after which all competi-tors and ground crew departed on time.
