    Introduction to the project

    Situated in the south central mountain slopes

    of sri lanka.

    Project covers arround 500km2 the upstream

    catchment of the present kotmale reservoir of the

    kotmale oya.

    To contribute to the national electricity

    supply due to increase of Annual demand

    for the electricity.

    Problem statement

    Implementation of a larger scale project as

    UKHP will not eliminate the environmental and

    social impacts totally.

    Only optimum minimization can be done.

    In this process many problems may arise inthe community of the project area.
