Pet Queries

Who? Pet Owner

What? Needs help, problem with pet!

When? As soon as it is needed! (straight away!)

Where? At the owners house

Why? We really don’t want the problem to develop or worsen,

Pet Queries will help the owners find solutions to problems

Page 3: Afg competition presentation_template

You don’t have enough time to go to the vets, or pay the £30

for just a simple question on what food they can eat or what

breed they are

Page 4: Afg competition presentation_template

How can we educate people on how to look after their pet

safely, and pick the right pet for them and their lifestyle

Page 5: Afg competition presentation_template

You are anxious to get a pet, but don’t know which one will suit you. Friends and family may not know what requirements you need to get a

specific pet.You may need advice or help, or an emergency vets number quickly.

[Our Mini Elevator Pitch]

My team, Team Reem, is developing a mobile app to help pet

owners, or potential pet owners, who need help with a pet, picking

a pet, or advice, quickly, freely and easily

Page 7: Afg competition presentation_template

Our user profiles tell us that our users mostly have pets, and

would like quick and easy access, and lots of information

Page 8: Afg competition presentation_template

There are no apps like ours on the market, they all cost large

amounts of money, or are from foreign countries and in a

different language. Our solution to the problem ‘people get

pets that don’t suit them, and do not know how to look after

them in the correct way’, is to offer a free and easy to use service, that is for any age and any pet type!

Page 9: Afg competition presentation_template

Our apps core feature is educating people on what pet to buy that suits them, and how to look after and care for it. Our app will do that by having a survey feature, enabling people to confidentially tell us

their details and get advice on the pet for them.Pet Queries will hold(we hope) all of the necessary information for

each species of pet, and how to care for them if something goes wrong. It will also be able to answer questions, that are pre-

programmed into the system. Its core feature summed up, it making the lives of people with their pets easier and letting them have the knowledge and experience needed to look after and choose a pet.

Harry-UserAs a user I would like to know how much to feed my pet

Keir-UserAs a user I would like the pet app to achieve its goal of educating people in pets.

Chloe-UserAs a user I would like the pet app to educate me and tell me how to treat ill or injured pets, and what to do, or who to call if I would like to call a helpline or the police.

Page 10: Afg competition presentation_template

Our user feedback tell us that people like the fact that the advice is thorough and detailed, as well as quick to access and free! They like

the survey part, and a quote from one of our users is, ‘I love the survey, it is a very good part of the app, and the answer that I was

given was very true!’

I have included my app prototype on the following slides;

FAQ’s

So your dog is becoming destructive, and you don’t know why, or how to stop it? Well, it tends to happen when an adult dog becomes bored or lacks adequate exercise. The dog will start to try and amuse itself by chewing, digging and scratching repetitively. As well as ensuring the restoration of adequate exercise and play in your dog's life, it is also important to provide some obedience training to help discipline, exercise, and affection all in combination. How to stop your dog from being destructive:1. Walk your dog regularly2. Play with your dog more3. Create a bedding area with blankets and hot water bottles if it is winter.4. Buy some bones, and bury them in your garden, let your dog have fun finding them!5. Avoid overcrowding your dog6. Ensure that your dog is fenced in well, in your garden, as it could dig and escape7. Remove chaos from your dog's life! Feed and walk regularly, dogs love routines!8. Do your best not to leave your dog in a kennel, they don’t like to be caged in9. Buy a lead that is only a few feet long10. Give your dog toys, and generally have fun! BACK!

Horse or Pony!

The information you have given to us indicates that you could get a horse or a pony! You have the facilities to take care of one! If you are interested in a horse or pony, it might be easier to get a few riding lessons and stable management courses! Good luck!

Another pet that was appropriate to you was a Dog.

FAQ’s

What is the best food to feed my pet?

There is no “best diet”, despite all the marketing claims to the contrary. Every pet is unique and the goal is to find the best diet for the individual pet. Expense doesn't necessarily equal quality. There are some inexpensive diets that have years of rigorous scientific testing behind them and some very expensive diets that are lacking in vital nutrients or based on unsound science. Larger companies generally have more stringent quality control protocols, employ expert nutritionists and food scientists, and strive to increase our collective nutrition knowledge through research. Smaller manufacturers may have less control over ingredient quality, perform less laboratory testing and are less likely to employ full or part time veterinary nutritionists.

Etc. BACK!

Our app would be reasonably easy to build, as it isn’t complex at all. A professional developer would be able to build the app in under three

months. It only includes basic features. These features include:• A Survey, which we rely upon heavily as it is on of the main features• FAQ’s, this data would be easily accessible, as we could collect it

using a survey*• Pet breeds, this would be harder to collect, as there are many

breeds of animals. I would only use the most common breeds.• Vets near you, this data would be easy to collect using a location

service.

Our business case is to include advertisements on our app, and allow people to pay 69p to get rid of them. The adverts will not be too

irritating, as you can see, but customers who use the app frequently would possibly be willing to pay. Many of the potential customers that

we interviewed were prepared to pay the 69p, as, ‘the quality and usefulness of the app would be benefitted by the lack of adverts’ –

said one person willing to pledge. In total we have 43 pledgers out of 45, from our school, who were willing to purchase the app, 20 of those

were willing to pay the 69p to get rid of the adverts. We will not charge for the app. We did not have to change our plans to find

pledgers, as our costs are quite low.

Pay 69p to get rid of adverts!

Page 21: Afg competition presentation_template

Our three main marketing strategies are:

• Advertisements on other pet related apps (to begin with),

people who go on these other(pet related) apps, will see

our advertisement, and hopefully be motivated to

download our app.

• We could make posters or leaflets advertising our app and

its functions, and distribute them to local vets, pet training

places, and boarding kennels etc.

• We could place advertisements on the internet, if our app

develops. It is quite costly, but works.

• Another choice, would be to ask somewhere such as Pets

at Home, or places like that, to sponsor us.

App Design Mock-up

At the beginning of setting up Pet Queries, you have the choice to pick a Pet, that guides you through the app functions. You have choices to

which pet you have, and can customise it.
