AFRICAN CLOTHES!!

This is a woman from africa wearing a traditional African dress.People dyed this bark cloth to make all kinds of patterns. The most important dye was indigo, which is the dye we use today to make blue jeans blue. Africans used tie-dyeing to make patterns on their cloth. In some parts of Africa, women did most of the fabric work, and in other parts of Africa, men did most of it. But early Africans also kept on wearing fur, and leather, and feather hats and headdresses, and jewellery made of ostrich shells, gold, feathers, and braided grass.

AFRICAN FOOD!!!!!!!African food can vary from each country in the continent; however, there are common flavours throughout the dishes that make it distinctive. The cuisine often incorporates many tropical climate crops and combines them with wild game and unique spice mixes.

StarchTraditional African meals generally centere around starches, such as porridges, cornmeal, grits and fried breads. Additional ingredients are added in small amounts to accompany the chosen starch

African drumsAfrican drums

African music is:

part of everyday activities - everyone joins in clapping, singing and dancing to the musicpart of rites and ceremonies where it is performed by specialist master drummers and court musiciansnot normally written down but passed on through oral traditionThe influence of black African music is widespread. It came over to America with the African slaves and combined with the folk music of the European settlers to produce new styles of music such as blues, gospel and jazz. These went on to form the basis of pop music today
