I missed a penalty against him though in the quarter-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup later that season, and for that Barry took me off at half-time! It was a bit like Barry saying: “Get back down to Earth, Jonathan!” Do you still keep in touch with any of your old team mates from the time? Yeah, Gary Poole and Gary Breen are two of my best mates and I’m still in contact with Paul Devlin and a few others. Dev was in the Blues Midlands Masters team last summer. I don’t suppose you fancy turning out with some of them again? I haven’t been asked actually! I’ll get onto him about that, I’d certainly consider that, getting the old boots on again. Do you still keep up with football then? Bits and bobs. I’m particularly happy right now because I’m a Spurs fan and we’ve got a final to look forward to – I think whatever team Arsenal put out the other night we’d have beaten them, there was just that look in the Spurs’ players eyes. What do you get up to in your spare time? Horse racing mostly; watching and with the Somatics as well. I’m a competitive person so I like to be around a professional game where I have somewhere to channel that spirit. I’ve also had a little boy recently, Ozzie, so that’s a full time occupation in itself! Thanks for your time, Jonathan, and best of luck. against Norwich where I lobbed Bryan Gunn twice.

I’ll never forget that game. I missed a penalty against him

though in the quarter-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup later that

season, and for that Barry took me off at half-time!

It was a bit like Barry saying: “Get back down to Earth,

Jonathan!”

Do you still keep in touch with any of your old team

mates from the time?

Yeah, Gary Poole and Gary Breen are two of my best mates

and I’m still in contact with Paul Devlin and a few others.

Dev was in the Blues Midlands Masters team last

summer. I don’t suppose you fancy turning out with

some of them again?

I haven’t been asked actually! I’ll get onto him about that,

I’d certainly consider that, getting the old boots on again.

Do you still keep up with football then?

Bits and bobs. I’m particularly happy right now

because I’m a Spurs fan and we’ve got a final to look

forward to – I think whatever team Arsenal put out the

other night we’d have beaten them, there was just that

look in the Spurs’ players eyes.

What do you get up to in your spare time?

Horse racing mostly; watching and with the Somatics

as well.

I’m a competitive person so I like to be around a

professional game where I have somewhere to channel

that spirit.

I’ve also had a little boy recently, Ozzie, so that’s a full

time occupation in itself!

Thanks for your time, Jonathan, and best of luck.
