Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)

This program is offered at many CSU’s, and have been serving students for over 40 years. It is here to support first-generation, low-income, educationally disadvantaged college students. The goal of this program is to get these students into an environment to encourage these students to succeed in life and in the community. This service at the university supports students to integrate into the university, encourages the use of campus resources, and directs students to attain their academic, career, and personal goals.

Requirements from EOP students

There are different requirements for each year once you are an EOP student.

I intern with the CSUF juniors, who are required to meet with their EOP advisor at least once a semester, as well as with the peer mentor. I’m their peer mentor, so the EOP advisors are my supervisors, and I’m a peer mentor for their caseloads.

ANALYZE MISSION AND AIMS

The EOP program reaches out to those who otherwise might not have had the help and have been lost in the university atmosphere. They server the underserved students to make higher education possible for them.

EOP does provide access to programs offered here at the university.

They advocate for the needs of that population.

Make the transitional experience easier.

Offer support services Give EOP Grants to

eligible students.

I feel like they are providing many resources to the EOP students to make sure that the students succeed. What I don’t like is that there are many students who qualify, but once they are at Fresno State, they can’t join the EOP team. Anyone can get the counseling, but the priority goes to the EOP students, who applied for EOP when they were first applying for Fresno State.
