The addition of item 8004 Existing Structural Steel Modification

B - Reason for change:

After the existing girders were disassembled, the consulting engineer reviewed the existing structural steel conditions and discovered that there was deterioration of some of the existing steel where the bracing connection points will be. The consulting engineer developed revised plan sheets to account for the existing conditions, and those revisions were sent to the contractor for pricing.

C - Settlement for cost(s) of change as follows with items addressed in Sections F and/or G:

An agreed to Lump Sum amount of $7,018.00. The includes the 10% prime contractor markup.

D - Justification for cost(s) (See I.M. 3.805, Attachment D, Chapter 2.36, for acceptable justification):

ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL, EXCEPT AS NOTED, SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A709 GRADE 50W. THE MINIMUM YIELD POINT FOR GRADE 50W STRUCTURAL STEEL IS 50 KSI FOR PLATES 4 INCHES AND UNDER IN THICKNESS, AND ALL STRUCTURAL SHAPES. THE GRADE 50W STEEL IS A WEATHERING STEEL AND IS TO REMAIN UNPAINTED, EXCEPT AS NOTED.

ALL PIECES COMPRISING THE BEARINGS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS AS STATED IN THE NOTES ON DESIGN SHEET

THE FINISH ON DECK DRAINS, BEARINGS AND WEATHERING STEEL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLAN NOTES AND SECTION 2408, OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. [ALL WEATHERING STEEL EMBEDDED INTO AN INTEGRAL ABUTMENT SHALL BE PAINTED TO A DISTANCE OF 1 FOOT FROM THE CONCRETE FACE ANDSEALED BY CAULKING AT THE ABUTMENT CONCRETE AND STEEL INTERFACE.] EXTERIOR SURFACES OF ALL GALVANIZED COMPONENTS WHICH ARE DESIGNATED IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS TO BE PAINTED SHALL BE PREPARED ACCORDING TO ARTICLE 2509.03, OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.

BOLTS FOR USE WITH WEATHERING STEEL SHALL BE A325 TYPE III WITH A563 GRADE DH3 NUTS AND F436 TYPE III WASHERS.

THE STEEL SHALL BE KEPT FREE OF OIL, GREASE, DIRT, CRAYON OR CHALK MARKS, CONCRETE SPATTER AND ANY OTHER FOREIGN MATTER THAT MAY AFFECT THE NATURAL OXIDATION OF THE STEEL. ANY FOREIGN MATTER REMAINING ON THE STEEL AFTER COMPLETION OF BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REMOVED BY THE BRIDGE CONTRACTOR AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. THE RESULTANT SURFACE SHALL BEFREE OF ALL VISIBLE RESIDUES. ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH CLEANING STEEL SURFACES SHALL BE BORNE BY THE BRIDGE CONTRACTOR.

SEAL MATERIAL FOR CAULKING SHALL BE NEUTRAL CURE AND NON SAG SILICONE. TWO PRODUCTS MEETING THESE CRITERIA ARE DOW 888, CRAFCO ROAD SAVER SILICONE, OR CSL342 JOINT SEALANT.

WEATHERING STEEL NOTES:

ALL DIMENSIONS AND DETAILS SHOWN IN THESE PLANS PERTINENT TO FABRICATION OF STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE VERIFIED IN THE FIELD BY THE BRIDGE CONTRACTOR BEFORE FABRICATION OF THE STRUCTURAL STEEL.

THE BRIDGE CONTRACTOR MAY SHOP DRILL ANY CONNECTION THAT IS SHOWN AS FIELD DRILLED IF PERTINENT DIMENSIONS ARE ACCURATELY FIELD MEASURED AND THE BRIDGE CONTRACTOR CAN ENSURE PROPER FIT BETWEEN NEW AND EXISTING STRUCTURAL STEEL.

NO TORCHWORK, CUTTING, GRINDING, OR DRILLING HOLES ON THE EXISTING STRUCTURAL STEEL OF THE BRIDGE SHALL BE PERFORMED WHEN THE AIR TEMPERATURE AND STEEL TEMPERATURE ARE BELOW 40 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

Peterson Contractors, Inc. (PCI) has received pricing from our supplier and welder based on

recommendations for repairs to the bracing connection points per email dated Friday, October 23, 2020

11:58 AM. Attached material and labor quotes from Aura Fabricators Inc. and Hawkeye Weld &

Repair. PCI has included 10% prime contractor markup.

Terms and Conditions of Proposal 1. Proposal Inclusions

This proposal incorporates, by reference, all contract documents for the referenced project. The scope of this quotation

only covers material. Erection and/or field installation is not included.

2. Quantities

Quantities illustrated within the quotation are purely for the Buyer’s guidance. The quantities are not guaranteed to be the

amount required by the contract documents.

3. Assembly:

Unless explicitly stated within the notes section of the proposal, the scope of the proposal does not include assembly of

materials supplied.

4. Field Dimensions:

Required field dimensions shall be furnished by the Buyer. The scope of the proposal does not include field dimension-

ing. If Buyer fails to provide required dimensions, we will fabricate according to the best information available to us.

Failure to provide field dimensions in a timely manner may result in additional material lead time. We will not be respon-

sible for misfits due to discrepancies between design plans and field conditions.

5. Fabrication Lead Time:

Material lead time may be 8-12 weeks after drawing approval. Additional coordination with us may be necessary in order

to meet projected project timelines.

6. Delivery:

Aura Fabricators, Inc. will make every attempt to deliver at the requested time. However, we will not accept any charges

for delays either for lost production time or for any liquidated damages that the owner may assess against the Buyer.

7. Limitations of Liabilities

Under no circumstances will Aura Fabricators, Inc. be liable of any indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive dam-

ages as a limitation is also extended to any third parties who may be involved. The scope of our responsibility only ex-

tends to rectify any errors that we have made in our own work, which would be completed as quickly as possible. The

Buyer will be given written approval to complete such amendments or to replace material that does not meet contract doc-

ument requirements.

8. Back Charges:

We must give written consent before we will honor any claims for labor and/or materials supplied by Buyer in connection

with our work. Therefore, we must be advised before any such expenses occur.

9. Warranties:

Aura Fabricators, Inc.’s only responsibility is to ensure that all materials included within this proposal shall conform to

the contract documents for the referenced project. Since design plans are prepared by others, we make no warranties for

fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Payment:

Cash terms are net 30 days. We do not accept retainages and we will not extend payment beyond 30 days due to non-

receipt of monies from the Owner. A charge at an interest rate of 1.5% per month shall be applied on accounts past due.

11. Proposal Expiration

This proposal is valid for acceptance within 14 days. Subsequently, acceptance is subject to review. Acceptance may be

made subject to award of contract to Buyer.
