14 MID-WESTERN REGIONAL COUNCIL ORDINARY MEETING - 18 MAY 2016 REPORT 7.1 Item 7: Office of the General Manager 7.1 Kandos-Rylstone Rail Heritage Precinct REPORT BY THE GENERAL MANAGER TO 18 MAY 2016 ORDINARY MEETING GOV400054, P1901511, P2125611 RECOMMENDATION That Council: 1. receive the report by the General Manager on the Kandos-Rylstone Rail Heritage Precinct; and 2. write a letter of support for the opening of the railway line between Kandos and Rylstone. Executive summary Council has received a proposal for the development of the Kandos-Rylstone Rail Heritage Precinct which includes opening of the railway line from Kandos to Rylstone to facilitate heritage tourist train operations. This report recommends support for the opening of the railway line between Kandos and Rylstone. Disclosure of Interest Not applicable. Detailed report The purpose of the precinct is to facilitate heritage tourist train operations to the Rylstone and Kandos area and further developing other rail related tourist products. The proposal to develop the Kandos-Rylstone Rail Heritage Precinct would require realignment of the existing lease arrangements currently in place at Rylstone station and the reopening of the section of railway between Kandos and Rylstone.
