SAFETY PRECAUTIONSCamera notes:Do not store or use the camera �n the follow�ng types of locat�ons:• In the ra�n, very hum�d and dusty places.• In a place where the camera can be exposed d�rectly to

the sunl�ght or subject to h�gh temperature, e.g. Ins�de a closed car �n summer.

• In a place where the camera �s subject to a h�gh magnet�c field, e.g. near motors, transformers or magnets.

Do not place the camera on a wet surface or places where dr�pp�ng water or sand may come �n contact w�th the camera, wh�ch may cause �rrepa�rable faults.If the camera w�ll not be used for a long per�od of t�me, we suggest you remove the battery and the memory card from the camera and keep them �n dry env�ronment. If you carry the camera suddenly from a cold locat�on to a warm place, mo�sture may condense �ns�de the camera. We suggest you wa�t for a wh�le before tur�ng on the camera. If water has gotten �ns�de the camera, turn off the camera and remove the battery and memory card. Allow to a�r-dry for at least 24 hours before us�ng the camera aga�n.If camera overheats, wh�le �n use or charg�ng, d�sconnect charger and carefully remove batter�es

Memory card notes:When us�ng a new memory card, or a memory card that has been used or �n�t�al�zed by a P.C. or a d�fferent model camera, be sure to format the card w�th your d�g�tal camera before us�ng �t. To ed�t �mage data, copy the �mage data to the PC’s hard d�sk first.

Do not change or delete the folder names or file names �n the memory card from your PC, as th�s may cause a memory card read error to occur when v�ew�ng photos on the memory card from the playback mode �n your camera.

The photos taken by th�s camera are stored �n the auto-generated folder �n the SD card. Please do not store photos that are not taken by th�s model of camera, as th�s may cause a read error to occur when the camera �s �n playback mode.

Please do not expose the camera to harsh env�ronments such as mo�sture or extreme temperatures, wh�ch may shorten the l�fe of your camera or damage the batter�es.

Do not remove memory card w�thout turn�ng the d�g�tal camera off to avo�d poss�ble damage of your memory card.

Do not sw�tch off the d�g�tal camera when a wr�t�ng process �s occurr�ng to avo�d �ncomplete data wr�t�ng and damaged p�ctures.

Al�gn the memory card correctly before �nsert�ng �t �nto the camera's SD card slot. Do not force the memory card �nto the cameras' SD card slot.

Insert the Battery and SD/SDHC Card (Not �ncluded)

2. Insert the enclosed batter�es �nto the battery slot accord�ng to the correct polar�ty as shown below.

4. Close the battery compartment.3. Insert an SD/SDHC card (not �ncluded) �nto the memory card slot as shown.

Opt�onal SD/SDHC cards are not �ncluded. The use of 64MB to16 GB memory cards from recogn�zed manufacturers such as SanD�sk, Panason�c and Tosh�ba �s recommended for rel�able data storage.

To remove the SD/SDHC card, open the battery compartment and gently push the card to release �t. Pull the card out carefully.

Turn�ng On and Off

Push ON/OFF to turn on/off camera.

After the camera �s powered on, set the camera to Auto mode by turn�ng the Mode d�al at the top of the top of the camera (see page 16). When us�ng the camera for the first-t�me, the language sett�ng page w�ll appear.

Sett�ng Language and Date/T�me

When turn�ng on the camera for the first t�me, the D�splay Language and Date/T�me Setup menu w�ll appear. Use the follow�ng procedures to set the camera to your preferences:

1. Push ON/OFF to turn on the camera.

2. Press Up/Down/Left/R�ght button to select the sett�ngs.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs.

Set Display Language

1. Press the button and the Left/R�ght button and select the General Setup menu tab.

2. Use the Up/Down button and scroll down to Language. Then press the Right button to access the language opt�ons.

3. Use the Up/Down/Left/R�ght buttons to select the des�red language.

4. Press the button to confirm the sett�ng.

2. Use the Left/R�ght button to select date or t�me field, then press Up/Down buttons to adjust values.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs.

1. Press the button and use the Up/Down button to

select the the General Setup menu tab. Press the button to enter the Date/T�me menu.

Us�ng the Mode D�al

The AgfaPhoto camera prov�des a conven�ent mode d�al that allows you to sw�tch between d�fferent modes w�th ease. All the ava�lable modes are l�sted as follows:

Mode Name Icon Description

Auto mode Take st�ll p�ctures �n automat�c mode.

ASCN mode Have the camera automat�cally select the best scene type for st�ll p�ctures.

Program AE PTh�s sett�ng allows you to choose the EV value and the camera w�ll select both the shutter speed and aperture automat�cally.

Shutter pr�or�ty STh�s sett�ng allows you to choose a spec�fic shutter speed wh�le the camera w�ll adjust the aperture automat�cally to ensure correct exposure.

Aperture pr�or�ty

ATh�s allows you to choose a spec�fic aperture and the camera w�ll automat�cally the adjust the shutter speed to match �t.

Manual mode Many of the camera sett�ngs can be configured manually �n th�s mode.

Portra�t Take portra�t p�ctures under normal cond�t�ons.

Panorama mode Capture a sequence of shots and st�tch them together �nto a panoram�c photo.

Mov�e mode Record v�deos.

Scene mode Choose from 20 d�fferent scene types and effects for your photos.

If the LCD mon�tor �s damaged, take part�cular care w�th the l�qu�d crystal �n the mon�tor. If any of the follow�ng s�tuat�ons ar�se, take the recommended �mmed�ate act�on �nd�cated below:

• If l�qu�d crystal comes �n contact w�th your sk�n, w�pe the area w�th a cloth and then wash thoroughly w�th soap and runn�ng water.

• If l�qu�d crystal gets �nto your eye, flush the affected eye w�th clean water for at least 15 m�nutes and then seek med�cal ass�stance.

• If the l�qu�d crystal d�splay or the l�qu�d �ns�de �t are swallowed, flush your mouth thoroughly w�th water. Dr�nk large quant�t�es of water and �nduce vom�t�ng. Then seek med�cal ass�stance �mmed�ately.

About the LCD Screen

When you turn the camera on, var�ous �cons are shown on the LCD screen to �nd�cate the current camera sett�ngs and status. To learn more about the d�splayed �cons, see “LCD Screen display” on page 30.

LCD Screen notes:Extremely h�gh-prec�s�on technology has been used to manufacture the LCD screen so that most of the p�xels are operat�onal for use. However, there may be some m�nute po�nts (black, wh�te, red, blue or green) that constantly appear on the LCD screen. These po�nts are normal �n the manufactur�ng process and the record�ng �s not affected �n any way.

Avo�d expos�ng the LCD screen to water; please remove any mo�sture on the LCD screen w�th a soft, dry clean�ng cloth.

Electron�c V�ewfinder

The Electron�c V�ewfinder d�splays the same �nformat�on as the LCD screen. To sw�tch between the LCD screen and the Electron�c V�ewfinder, press the button. When select�ng the EVF �nd�cator, the LCD screen w�ll automat�cally shut off.

Your camera �s equ�pped w�th two types of zoom funct�ons: opt�cal zoom and d�g�tal zoom. Press the Zoom button of the camera to zoom �n or out of the subject wh�le tak�ng p�ctures.

Zoom �nd�cator (See “D�g�tal Zoom“ on page 51)

When the opt�cal zoom reaches �ts max�mum value, release the Zoom button and then press �t aga�n for the d�g�tal zoom to beg�n. The zoom �nd�cator �s h�dden after the Zoom button �s released. The screen shows ( ) for the current zoom status.

Shoot�ng �n Auto Mode

Auto mode �s the eas�est mode to take photos. Wh�le operat�ng �n th�s mode, the camera automat�cally opt�m�zes your photos for best results.

To start shoot�ng, do the follow�ng:

1. Push ON/OFF to turn on the camera.

Self-t�mer

Th�s sett�ng allows the photographer to set the camera for self portra�ts or group shots. The t�mer can be set to fire the shutter 2 seconds, or 10 seconds after the shutter button �s pressed.

Macro Mode

The Macro sett�ng �s �deal for shoot�ng small objects or close-up photos. Th�s mode allows you to focus on subjects very close to the camera.

EV (Exposure Value)

The EV control allows for an overr�de of the camera's auto exposure sett�ngs �n order to prov�de more control �n tr�cky l�ght�ng cond�t�ons. Th�s w�ll allow you to l�ghten or darken the exposure to your preference.

ISOThe ISO funct�on allows you to set the sens�t�v�ty of the camera's sensor based on the br�ghtness of the scene. To �mprove the camera's sensor performance �n darker env�ronments, a h�gher ISO value �s requ�red. On the other hand, a lower ISO value �s needed when �n br�ght cond�t�ons.

P�ctures at h�gher ISO w�ll naturally have more no�se than those at lower ISO.

The camera's ISO sett�ngs �nclude automat�c, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 3200.

The ava�lable ISO values vary on d�fferent camera models.

The b�gger the number of recorded p�xels �s, the better the �mage qual�ty becomes. As the number of recorded p�xels becomes smaller, you w�ll be able to record more �mages on a memory card.

Night Portrait

When you taken portra�ts at n�ght, or �n low l�ght cond�t�ons, ASCN w�ll automat�cally adjust the exposure for people and n�ght scenes.

Backlit Portrait

When the sun or any other l�ght source �s beh�nd you, ASCN w�ll automat�cally adjust the foreground exposure to produce good p�ctures.

Night Landscape Mode

For n�ght scenes, ASCN w�ll automat�cally �ncrease the ISO value to compensate for low l�ght.

Macro Mode

To produce more deta�led close-ups, ASCN w�ll automat�cally engage the lens Macro mode and automat�cally focus the lens.

Auto Mode

The camera w�ll automat�cally adjusts the exposure and focus to ensure good p�ctures.

Panorama

Panorama Mode allows you to create a panoram�c p�cture. The camera w�ll automat�cally compose a panoram�c p�cture us�ng the �nd�v�dual shots that you take.

Follow these steps to create a panoram�c p�cture:

1. Turn the mode d�al to the Panorama Mode.

2. Use the Left/R�ght buttons to spec�fy the d�rect�on of of the photo sequence. If noth�ng �s chosen, �n 2 seconds the panoram�c sequence w�ll commence at the default d�rect�on of left to r�ght.

3. Compose the first v�ew of the panoram�c p�cture on the LCD screen and press the Shutter button to capture the photo.

4. After the first shot �s taken, two target �cons w�ll appear on the left and r�ght s�de of the LCD screen. Pan the camera and the c�rcle �con on the screen w�ll move towards the square frame �con. When the c�rcle �con and square frame overlap and turn green, the camera w�ll capture the �mage automat�cally. Repeat th�s step for the th�rd p�cture �n the ser�es.

In any of the above Photo Modes, press the button to go to the Photo Menu.

To adjust each sett�ng:

HDR-High Dynamic RangeW�th the HDR funct�on, p�ctures that are overexposed may be corrected to opt�m�ze the h�ghl�ghts and lowl�ghts captured to more accurately represent the real scene.

1. Select HDR sett�ng �n Playback menu as descr�bed prev�ously.

Connect�ng to a PC

Use the USB cable and ArcSoft software (CD-ROM) suppl�ed w�th your camera to copy (transfer) p�ctures to a computer.

Setting the USB mode

S�nce the camera’s USB port can be set to connect w�th e�ther a PC or a Pr�nter, the follow�ng steps w�ll allow you to ensure that the camera �s correctly configured to connect w�th a PC.1. Go to the Transm�ss�on menu, then select USB

connect�on w�th the Up/Down button, and press the R�ght button.

2. Use the Up/Down nav�gat�on buttons to select PC.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ng.

Transferring files to your PCThe computer w�ll automat�cally detect the camera as a removable dr�ve. Double-cl�ck the My Computer �con on the desktop to locate the removable dr�ve and to copy folders and files �n the dr�ve to a d�rectory on your PC as you would copy any typ�cal folder or file.

By us�ng the USB cable, you can transfer the captured photos and v�deos to a PC. Follow the steps below to connect the camera to a PC.

1. Start a computer �n wh�ch ArcSoft software has been �nstalled.

2. Make sure both the camera and PC are turned on.

3. Connect one end of the suppl�ed USB cable to the USB/AV OUT port on your camera.

4. Connect the other end of the cable to an ava�lable USB port on your PC.

Connect�ng to a P�ctBr�dge Compat�ble Pr�nter

P�ctBr�dge allows pr�nt�ng �mages from a memory card �n a d�g�tal camera d�rectly to a pr�nter, regardless of brand. To find out �f a pr�nter �s P�ctBr�dge compat�ble, s�mply look for the P�ctBr�dge logo on the packag�ng or check the manual for spec�ficat�ons. W�th

the P�ctBr�dge funct�on on your camera, you can pr�nt the captured photos d�rectly to a P�ctBr�dge compat�ble pr�nter us�ng the suppl�ed USB cable, w�thout the need for a PC.

Setting the USB modeS�nce the camera’s USB port can be set to connect w�th e�ther a PC or a Pr�nter, the follow�ng steps w�ll ensure that the camera �s correctly configured to connect w�th a Pr�nter.

1. Go to the camera's Transm�ss�on menu and, select USB connect�on w�th the Up/Down button, then press the R�ght button.

2. Use the Up/Down button and select Pr�nter.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ng.

After the camera �s reset, �t w�ll sw�tch to PC mode automat�cally from USB mode.

Connecting the camera and printer.

1. Make sure both the camera and pr�nter are turned on.

2. Connect one end of the suppl�ed USB cable to the USB port on your camera.

3. Connect the other end of the cable to the USB port on the pr�nter.

If the camera �s not connected to a P�ctBr�dge compat�ble pr�nter, the follow�ng error message w�ll appear on the LCD screen.

The above error message would also appear �f the USB mode were set �ncorrectly, �n wh�ch case you should d�sconnect the USB cable, check the USB mode sett�ngs, ensure that the Pr�nter �s turned on, and then try connect�ng the USB cable aga�n.

Print with dateIf you have set the date and t�me on your camera, the date and t�me w�ll be recorded and saved w�th each photo you take.

1. Select Print with date from the PictBridge menu. The follow�ng screen w�ll appear.
