Opt�onal SD/SDHC cards are not �ncluded. The use of 64MB to16 GB memory cards from recogn�zed manufacturers such as SanD�sk, Panason�c and Tosh�ba �s recommended for rel�able data storage.

To remove the SD/SDHC card, open the battery compartment and gently push the card to release �t. Pull the card out carefully.

Turn�ng On and Off

Push ON/OFF to turn on/off camera.

After the camera �s powered on, set the camera to Auto mode by turn�ng the Mode d�al at the top of the top of the camera (see page 16). When us�ng the camera for the first-t�me, the language sett�ng page w�ll appear.

Sett�ng Language and Date/T�me

When turn�ng on the camera for the first t�me, the D�splay Language and Date/T�me Setup menu w�ll appear. Use the follow�ng procedures to set the camera to your preferences:

1. Push ON/OFF to turn on the camera.

2. Press Up/Down/Left/R�ght button to select the sett�ngs.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs.

Set Display Language

1. Press the button and the Left/R�ght button and select the General Setup menu tab.

2. Use the Up/Down button and scroll down to Language. Then press the Right button to access the language opt�ons.

3. Use the Up/Down/Left/R�ght buttons to select the des�red language.

4. Press the button to confirm the sett�ng.

Us�ng the Mode D�al

The AgfaPhoto camera prov�des a conven�ent mode d�al that allows you to sw�tch between d�fferent modes w�th ease. All the ava�lable modes are l�sted as follows:

Mode Name Icon Description

Auto mode Take st�ll p�ctures �n automat�c mode.

ASCN mode Have the camera automat�cally select the best scene type for st�ll p�ctures.

Program AE PTh�s sett�ng allows you to choose the EV value and the camera w�ll select both the shutter speed and aperture automat�cally.

Shutter pr�or�ty STh�s sett�ng allows you to choose a spec�fic shutter speed wh�le the camera w�ll adjust the aperture automat�cally to ensure correct exposure.

Aperture pr�or�ty

ATh�s allows you to choose a spec�fic aperture and the camera w�ll automat�cally the adjust the shutter speed to match �t.

Manual mode Many of the camera sett�ngs can be configured manually �n th�s mode.

Portra�t Take portra�t p�ctures under normal cond�t�ons.

Panorama mode Capture a sequence of shots and st�tch them together �nto a panoram�c photo.

Mov�e mode Record v�deos.

Scene mode Choose from 20 d�fferent scene types and effects for your photos.

If the LCD mon�tor �s damaged, take part�cular care w�th the l�qu�d crystal �n the mon�tor. If any of the follow�ng s�tuat�ons ar�se, take the recommended �mmed�ate act�on �nd�cated below:

• If l�qu�d crystal comes �n contact w�th your sk�n, w�pe the area w�th a cloth and then wash thoroughly w�th soap and runn�ng water.

• If l�qu�d crystal gets �nto your eye, flush the affected eye w�th clean water for at least 15 m�nutes and then seek med�cal ass�stance.

• If the l�qu�d crystal d�splay or the l�qu�d �ns�de �t are swallowed, flush your mouth thoroughly w�th water. Dr�nk large quant�t�es of water and �nduce vom�t�ng. Then seek med�cal ass�stance �mmed�ately.

About the LCD Screen

When you turn the camera on, var�ous �cons are shown on the LCD screen to �nd�cate the current camera sett�ngs and status. To learn more about the d�splayed �cons, see “LCD Screen display” on page 30.

LCD Screen notes:Extremely h�gh-prec�s�on technology has been used to manufacture the LCD screen so that most of the p�xels are operat�onal for use. However, there may be some m�nute po�nts (black, wh�te, red, blue or green) that constantly appear on the LCD screen. These po�nts are normal �n the manufactur�ng process and the record�ng �s not affected �n any way.

Avo�d expos�ng the LCD screen to water; please remove any mo�sture on the LCD screen w�th a soft, dry clean�ng cloth.

Electron�c V�ewfinder

The Electron�c V�ewfinder d�splays the same �nformat�on as the LCD screen. To sw�tch between the LCD screen and the Electron�c V�ewfinder, press the button. When select�ng the EVF �nd�cator, the LCD screen w�ll automat�cally shut off.

Your camera �s equ�pped w�th two types of zoom funct�ons: opt�cal zoom and d�g�tal zoom. Press the Zoom button of the camera to zoom �n or out of the subject wh�le tak�ng p�ctures.

Zoom �nd�cator (See “D�g�tal Zoom“ on page 51)

When the opt�cal zoom reaches �ts max�mum value, release the Zoom button and then press �t aga�n for the d�g�tal zoom to beg�n. The zoom �nd�cator �s h�dden after the Zoom button �s released. The screen shows ( ) for the current zoom status.

Shoot�ng �n Auto Mode

Auto mode �s the eas�est mode to take photos. Wh�le operat�ng �n th�s mode, the camera automat�cally opt�m�zes your photos for best results.

To start shoot�ng, do the follow�ng:

1. Push ON/OFF to turn on the camera.

2. Sw�tch the Mode d�al to Auto mode ( ).

3. Compose your p�cture on the LCD screen and press the Shutter button halfway to focus on the subject.

4. The LCD screen w�ll show a green focus frame after the subject �s �n focus.

5. Press the Shutter button fully to capture the �mage.

Open Flash

The flash �s used to �llum�nate a subject �n low l�ght or for fill-�n l�ght�ng to ach�eve better �llum�nat�on of a subject w�th pronounced shadows.

1. To turn on the flash, press the flash button.

2. Press the left button to enter the flash Funct�ons menu.

3. Press the Left/R�ght button to select from the follow�ng 6 modes:

• Flash: Auto Camera flash goes off automat�cally based on ex�st�ng l�ght cond�t�ons.

• Flash: Red-eye reduct�on The camera em�ts a br�ef flash before the p�cture �s taken to reduce red-eye effects.

• Flash: Forced flash Make forced flash at the moment of shoot�ng.

• Flash: Forced off Flash �s turned off.

• Flash: Slow Synchro Th�s allows for n�ght scenery photos that �nclude people �n the foreground. The use of a tr�pod �s recommended when shoot�ng w�th th�s sett�ng.

• Flash:Red-Eye+Slow Synchro Us�ng th�s mode for slow synchro shots w�th red-eye reduct�on.

4. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs and ex�t the opt�on.

Self-t�mer

Th�s sett�ng allows the photographer to set the camera for self portra�ts or group shots. The t�mer can be set to fire the shutter 2 seconds, or 10 seconds after the shutter button �s pressed.

1. Press the Down button to enter the Self-t�mer menu.

2. Press the Left/R�ght button to select the follow�ng three modes:

• Self-t�mer: 2 sec A s�ngle p�cture �s shot 2 seconds after the Shutter button �s pressed.

• Self-t�mer: 10 sec A s�ngle p�cture �s shot 10 seconds after the Shutter button �s pressed.

• Self-t�mer: Off

D�sables the self-t�mer.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs and ex�t the menu.

Macro Mode

The Macro sett�ng �s �deal for shoot�ng small objects or close-up photos. Th�s mode allows you to focus on subjects very close to the camera.

1. Press R�ght button to enter the Macro menu.

2. Press the Left/R�ght button to select the follow�ng two modes:

• Macro: On

Select th�s to focus on subjects 5cm from the lens.

• Macro: Off

Select th�s opt�on to d�sable Macro.

3. Press the button to confirm the sett�ngs and ex�t the menu.

EV (Exposure Value)

The EV control allows for an overr�de of the camera's auto exposure sett�ngs �n order to prov�de more control �n tr�cky l�ght�ng cond�t�ons. Th�s w�ll allow you to l�ghten or darken the exposure to your preference.

1. Press the button to enter the exposure sett�ngs screen.

2. Press the Up/Down button to adjust the exposure value of the �mage, from the range between EV -2.0 to EV+2.0.

The face detect�on mode detects people's faces and focuses on them result�ng �n clearer �mages. Face detect�on �s engaged by default �n most modes unless �t �s d�sabled by the user. Face detect�on �s d�sabled �n Panorama Mode.

1. When the face detect�on feature �s enabled �t w�ll d�splay a frame around detected faces �n the camera's field of v�ew.

2. Press the Shutter halfway to focus on the subject.

3. Press the Shutter fully to capture the �mage.

4. Press the Face Detect�on button to close th�s funct�on.

Sm�le Detect�on

The Sm�le Detect�on feature automat�cally detects and captures a person's sm�le.

1. In shoot�ng mode, Press the Face Detect�on button unt�l the Icon appears on the LCD screen

2. Po�nt the camera at the subject, and press the Shutter button half way to focus.

3. Press the Shutter button all the way to capture the �mage, the camera w�ll automat�cally release the shutter when �t detects a sm�le.

4. Press the Face Detect�on button to close th�s funct�on.

Bl�nk Detect�on

Bl�nk Detect�on �s enabled by default unless d�sabled by the user. When shoot�ng, �f a face �s detected w�th �ts eyes closed, the Bl�nk Detect�on w�ll appear on the screen to show that a bl�nk was detected.

Advanced Funct�ons Menu

The Advanced Funct�ons Menu of the camera �nclude Image S�ze, Image Qual�ty, Wh�te Balance, Image Color and ISO. These funct�ons allow advanced users better control for shoot�ng under d�fficult l�ght�ng cond�t�ons.

To set the Advanced Funct�ons:

1. Pull up the Advanced Funct�on Menus by press�ng button.

2. Press Down button to enter the advanced funct�on select�on screen, press Left/R�ght button to select the funct�on that you want to set.

3. Press Up button to enter the advanced funct�on sett�ng �nterface.

4. Use the Left/R�ght buttons to change the sett�ngs and then press to confirm the new sett�ngs and close th�s Advanced Funct�on Menu.

WB (White Balance)The Wh�te Balance allows you to adjust the color temperature for d�fferent l�ght�ng sources to ensure fa�thful color reproduct�on.

The opt�ons for Wh�te Balance �nclude:

ISOThe ISO funct�on allows you to set the sens�t�v�ty of the camera's sensor based on the br�ghtness of the scene. To �mprove the camera's sensor performance �n darker env�ronments, a h�gher ISO value �s requ�red. On the other hand, a lower ISO value �s needed when �n br�ght cond�t�ons.

P�ctures at h�gher ISO w�ll naturally have more no�se than those at lower ISO.

The camera's ISO sett�ngs �nclude automat�c, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 and 3200.

The ava�lable ISO values vary on d�fferent camera models.

QualityThe camera's qual�ty sett�ng adjusts the compress�on rat�o of the �mages. H�gher qual�ty sett�ngs produce better qual�ty photos, but w�ll take up more memory space.

There are three opt�ons for p�cture qual�ty:

• : Qual�ty: Normal

SizeThe s�ze sett�ng refers to the �mage resolut�on �n p�xels. A h�gher �mage resolut�on allows you to pr�nt that �mage �n larger s�zes w�thout degrad�ng the �mage qual�ty.

The b�gger the number of recorded p�xels �s, the better the �mage qual�ty becomes. As the number of recorded p�xels becomes smaller, you w�ll be able to record more �mages on a memory card.

Night Portrait

Backlit Portrait

When the sun or any other l�ght source �s beh�nd you, ASCN w�ll automat�cally adjust the foreground exposure to produce good p�ctures.

Night Landscape Mode

For n�ght scenes, ASCN w�ll automat�cally �ncrease the ISO value to compensate for low l�ght.

Macro Mode

To produce more deta�led close-ups, ASCN w�ll automat�cally engage the lens Macro mode and automat�cally focus the lens.

Auto Mode

The camera w�ll automat�cally adjusts the exposure and focus to ensure good p�ctures.

Panorama

Panorama Mode allows you to create a panoram�c p�cture. The camera w�ll automat�cally compose a panoram�c p�cture us�ng the �nd�v�dual shots that you take.

Follow these steps to create a panoram�c p�cture:

1. Turn the mode d�al to the Panorama Mode.

2. Use the Left/R�ght buttons to spec�fy the d�rect�on of of the photo sequence. If noth�ng �s chosen, �n 2 seconds the panoram�c sequence w�ll commence at the default d�rect�on of left to r�ght.

3. Compose the first v�ew of the panoram�c p�cture on the LCD screen and press the Shutter button to capture the photo.

4. After the first shot �s taken, two target �cons w�ll appear on the left and r�ght s�de of the LCD screen. Pan the camera and the c�rcle �con on the screen w�ll move towards the square frame �con. When the c�rcle �con and square frame overlap and turn green, the camera w�ll capture the �mage automat�cally. Repeat th�s step for the th�rd p�cture �n the ser�es.

Flash Mode, Self-t�mer, Macro Mode, and Exposure Compensat�on are d�sabled �n Panorama Mode.

P�ctures cannot be deleted, and the zoom w�ll be d�sabled unt�l the ser�es �s final�zed.

Panorama Mode can st�tch 2 or 3 p�ctures max�mum.

In Manual Scene mode, you can select from a total of 20 scene types to match your needs. The camera w�ll auto-mat�cally adjust to the opt�mal sett�ngs based on the scene type that �s chosen.To enter the Scene Mode, turn the mode d�al to Manual Scene mode. The Scene Mode palette w�ll appear.

When select�ng A (Aperture Pr�or�ty) mode, you can adjust the aperture s�ze and EV value. Select�ng a large aperture open�ng w�ll emphas�ze the po�nt of focus, and show a blurry background and foreground. A small aperture open�ng w�ll keep both the background and ma�n object �n clear focus.

The zoom buttons can also be used dur�ng playback. Th�s allows you to magn�fy photos between 2x to 8x.

1. Press the button to sw�tch to playback mode.

2. Use the Left/R�ght nav�gat�on buttons to select a photo to magn�fy.

3. Press one end of the Zoom button ( ) to zoom �n.

4. Use the Zoom buttons to zoom �n and out. The zoom �nd�cat�on and the frame of the whole photo w�ll d�splay on the screen.

5. Use the nav�gat�on buttons to pan across the �mage.

6. Press the button to return the �mage to �ts or�g�nal scale.

Mov�e �mages cannot be magn�fied.

In Playback Mode, you can press the Up/Delete button to delete an unwanted photo or v�deo.

3. After press�ng the Up/Delete button, the delete screen w�ll d�splay on the screen.

4. Select Yes or Back w�th the Up/Down button and press the button for confirmat�on.

Erased photos/v�deo cl�ps cannot be recovered.

USING THE MENUS

In any of the above Photo Modes, press the button to go to the Photo Menu.

To adjust each sett�ng:

1. In the Photo Menu, use the Left/R�ght button to select the Tab (at the top of the screen) correspond�ng to the page conta�n�ng the funct�on you w�sh to change.

2. Press the Up/Down buttons to select the funct�on.

3. Press the R�ght button, or the funct�on button to go to the sub-menu.

4. In the sub-menu press the Up/Down button to select a sett�ng and press the funct�on button to confirm that sett�ng and ex�t the sub-menu. button to return to the menu.

5. Use the Up/Down Left/R�ght button to cont�nue to nav�gate the Photo Menu for add�t�onal changes, or press the menu button to ex�t the Photo Menu.

After select�ng a funct�on, you can press the Up button to return to the St�ll P�cture menu for other Photo Setup or Camera Setup pages. Or you can press the Down button several t�mes to move to the next setup menu page.

AF Mode (Auto-Focus mode)Use th�s sett�ng to control the auto-focus mechan�sm wh�le tak�ng p�ctures.

Two opt�ons are ava�lable:

• Single-AF: The focus frame appears �n the center of the LCD screen to focus on the subject.

• Multi-AF: The camera automat�cally focuses the subject �n a w�de area to find the focus po�nt.

AF-assist BeamTh�s opt�on can turn on or turn off AF ass�st lamp. The AF ass�st beam �s useful for focus�ng �n the dark or �n low l�ght�ng cond�t�ons.

Expo Metering (Exposure Metering) Use th�s sett�ng to select the "target" s�ze of the camera's field of v�ew to be metered.

Three meter�ng "target" s�zes are ava�lable to choose from:

• Spot meter�ng targets a small area �n the center of the camera's field of v�ew.

• Center meter�ng targets a sl�ghtly larger area �n the center of the cameras field of v�ew.

• AiAE (Art�fic�al Intell�gence AE) targets the camera's ent�re field of v�ew.

Continuous AFW�th Cont�nuous AF �s turned on, the camera w�ll cont�nu-ally adjust focus automat�cally �n response to any camera or subject movement.

Continuous ShotUse th�s sett�ng to perform cont�nuous shoot�ng. After enter�ng th�s mode, you can shoot mult�ple �mages by cont�nuously hold�ng the shutter button down.

There are five ava�lable opt�ons:

• Off: Turns off the Cont�nuous Shot funct�on.

• Unlimited: Press and hold down the shutter button to shoot cont�nuously unt�l you release the shutter but-ton or when the memory card has run out of space.

• 3 Shots: Capture up to 3 consecut�ve p�ctures.

• 3 Shots (Last): Capture p�ctures cont�nuously unt�l the Shutter button �s released but only the last 3 shots are recorded.

• Time Lapse: Automat�cally capture p�ctures at predefined �ntervals.

The flash �s des�gned not to work �n th�s mode �n order to enable qu�ck success�on of shots.

2. Use Up/Down button to select a s�ngle p�cture to lock the selected photo or mov�e; or select all to protect all photos and mov�es stored �n �n-bu�lt memory card. Press button to confirm and enter photo/mov�e protect�on �nterface.

DeleteThere are three ways to delete files.

• Delete One:

1. In the Delete Opt�on, select One and then press the button.

2. Press the Left/R�ght button to locate the photo or v�deo to be deleted. Press the Up/Down button and select yes and press the to delete the �tem or select "back" to return to the prev�ous menu.

• Delete All:

1. In the Delete opt�on, select All and then press the button.

2. Use Up/Down button and select Yes to delete all files, or select Back to return to the menu.

• Delete Date Folder:

1. In the Delete opt�on, press button after select�ng Date Folder.

2. Use the Up/Down button to select Date Folder to be deleted, press to confirm, press the Up/Down button to select �tem (Yes: to delete the file, Back: to return to the menu) and then press to confirm.

The “ ” �nd�cator means a file �s protected. F�le protect�on must be removed first before a file can be deleted.

Delet�ng files w�ll cause DPOF sett�ngs to be reset.

DPOF (Digital Print Order Format)

DPOF feature allows you to comp�le a select�on of p�ctures that you would l�ke to have pr�nted, and w�ll save your select�on �n the memory card so that you can s�mply hand your memory card to a photo pr�nt�ng serv�ce w�thout hav�ng to tell them wh�ch photos you would l�ke to pr�nt.

TrimThe Tr�m sett�ng allows you crop photos an save them as new p�ctures.To tr�m a p�cture:1. W�th the camera �n Playback mode press the menu

button to access the Photo Menu. Then use the Left/R�ght button and select the "playback setup 2" tab. Use the Down button to select Tr�m and press the funct�on button to enter the Tr�m sub-menu.

2. Us�ng the Left/Right buttons, locate the photo that you want to crop. After the photo �s d�splayed on the LCD screen press the Down button, select Yes and press the funct�on button.

3. Use the zoom buttons and nav�gat�on buttons to crop the p�cture.

4. Press button and a ‘Save Changes?’ prompt w�ll d�splay. Select “O” to confirm changes and save �t as a new �mage, or select “X” to cancel changes and return to the prev�ous menu.

The �mage can not be cl�pped aga�n once �t has been cl�pped to 640X480.

ResizeTh�s sett�ng allows you to res�ze a p�cture to a spec�fied resolut�on, and saves �t as a new p�cture.

Connect�ng to a PC

Use the USB cable and ArcSoft software (CD-ROM) suppl�ed w�th your camera to copy (transfer) p�ctures to a computer.

Setting the USB mode

S�nce the camera’s USB port can be set to connect w�th e�ther a PC or a Pr�nter, the follow�ng steps w�ll allow you to ensure that the camera �s correctly configured to connect w�th a PC.1. Go to the Transm�ss�on menu, then select USB

connect�on w�th the Up/Down button, and press the R�ght button.

2. Use the Up/Down nav�gat�on buttons to select PC.


Transferring files to your PCThe computer w�ll automat�cally detect the camera as a removable dr�ve. Double-cl�ck the My Computer �con on the desktop to locate the removable dr�ve and to copy folders and files �n the dr�ve to a d�rectory on your PC as you would copy any typ�cal folder or file.

By us�ng the USB cable, you can transfer the captured photos and v�deos to a PC. Follow the steps below to connect the camera to a PC.

1. Start a computer �n wh�ch ArcSoft software has been �nstalled.

2. Make sure both the camera and PC are turned on.

3. Connect one end of the suppl�ed USB cable to the USB/AV OUT port on your camera.

the P�ctBr�dge funct�on on your camera, you can pr�nt the captured photos d�rectly to a P�ctBr�dge compat�ble pr�nter us�ng the suppl�ed USB cable, w�thout the need for a PC.
