CHAIRMAN’SREPORTAnotherinterestingandchallengingseason,withthehopethatwewouldhaveanothercourtmarkedoutontheplaygroundatShirleyHighSchool.Thisunfortunatelydidnotworkout,andwiththeintroductionofPremierBwehadtouseanothervenueonarotabasis,withtheback-upandsupportofallteamsandumpires.Therefurbishedcourtsandfloodlightinghascertainlybenefittedallconcerned,inparticulartheEveningLeagueteamswhosefirstseasonatSHSprovedsuccessful.Asmentionedabove,weincreasedourdivisionsto7byaddingaPremierBdivision,duetothenumberofteamswantingtoplayinCNL.ThisdoesextendtheplayingseasonbutCNLnetballersjustwanttoplay!WandsworthAafterwinningPremierAwentforwardtotheCountyLeagueplay-offsandcamejointsecondonpoints,althoughthirdduetogoaldifference.Acredittothemselves,theirclubandCNL.Alldivisionalresultscanbefoundonourwebsite.Atthebeginningoftheseason,weheldaGameManagementForum,takenbyGaryBurgessofEnglandNetball.Hisguidanceandknowledgeandfriendlypersonalitywaswellreceived,andwehopethateveryonethenpassedonallrelevantpointsmadeanddiscussedandtookonboard.Ourgrantawardssystem,onceagain,hashelpedanumberofpeopleintheirprogressioninthegameandwelookforwardtowatchingtheirprogress.Wealwayslookatwaysofmakingsureweofferasmuchhelpandassistanceforplayers,umpires,coachesandclubsandwiththechangeoverofENAffiliation/Membershipcomingup,weheldourownworkshop,takenbyLottieSudellandJuliaMartin,togivemorepracticalinformationofwhatisinvolved.Inaddition,anotherFirstAidcoursewasarranged.NeutralumpiringfortheSaturdayLeagueisaveryhardtaskbutablydoneandtohelpallumpires,amentoring/guidancesystemstakesplacethroughouttheyear.Thiswefeelisneededtoensuretheumpiresgivethebestpossibleservicetotheplayers.PlanshadbeenmadetoholdNetballCampsduringtheschoolholidays.Unfortunately,theuptakewasnotaswehoped.DiscussionswerethenheldwiththeCroydonSchoolSportPartnershipandweheldaverysuccessfulSkills&Drillsdayforyears4-6with100attendeesfromanumberofjuniorschoolsintheboroughandashowcasegamefromCroydonHighYear10.AsecondonewasheldinJuneforyears3-5with60attendeesplusashowcasegamefromRiddlesdownYear9.Thiswefeelisthewayforwardforusandwillbeplanningmorefornextseason.Ourralliessuccessfullycontinueandarewellattended.TheSummerLeaguestartedearlyJunewith35teamsplayingover4eveningsover6weeks.Inaddition,wecelebratedour40thAnniversarythisyearandheldourannualPresentationDinnerDanceinJune,with158attending.Juniorsareavitalpartoftheprogressionofthegame,clubsandLeague,andwehopethatmoreclubswillbelookingintohavingajuniorsectiongoingforward.WeholdanumberofmatchdatesovertheyearandconcludewitharallyinJune,withWandsworthhavingacleansweepacrossthethreeagegroups.

Idohaveonemajorgripe,regardingsportsmanlikebehaviour.ThisistotallyunacceptableinCNL,inparticulartheswearingoncourtandattitude/commentstoumpires.Yes,weallgetfrustratedandannoyed,it’sallpartofbeingcompetitiveandtakingpartinthegamewhetheroncourtoronthesideline,butitneedstobestressedthatthiswillnotbeacceptableatanylevel.Anotherfullandactiveseason,fromadedicatedandcommittedCommittee,whosupportyou,meandtheLeague.Withoutthevolunteersinourgame,wherewouldgrassrootsnetballbe,I’mnottoosurebutknowweareallveryluckytohavethem.JACKIEROWLANDEVENINGLEAGUEREPORTThishasbeenourfirstseasonatShirleyHighSchoolunderthenewfloodlightsandithascontinuedtorunsmoothlywithveryfewweatherinterruptions.WestillhadafewcancellationsthroughouttheseasonandIwouldurgeyoutotryandborrowplayersfromtheclubsplayingintheeveningleaguetostillfulfilyourfixtures.TheresultsfortheleaguecontinuetobeaccessibleonlineandIdoappreciateyouallsendingyourresultsslipsinviaemail,whatsaporbymyhelpfulaccompliceAmyRendle.CongratulationstoTatsfieldonwinningbothpart1and2forbothMondayandThursdayevenings.Thankyoutotheteamswhohaveaccommodatedtraineeumpires,bothforthemtopractisetheirumpiringandtobeassessed.Itwasevidentfromtheresultslipsthatthemajorityofteamsalwaysmanagedtosourceanumpirethisseason,sowelldonetoallteams!PleasecanIremindyoutocheckwhensourcinganumpirethattheyhaveattendedtherelevantcourses,areamemberofEnglandNetballandareofanappropriateagetoumpireseniorlevelnetball.PleasechecktheguidelinesissuedbyEnglandNetballandCNLifyouareunsure.Iamdelightedtosaythatthisseasonhasseenfarfewercomplaintsreceivedbythecommitteeregardingplayerconductandattitude.Longmaythiscontinuetobethecaseplease!AtthebeginningoftheseasonyouwillonceagainbeaskedtosignaCodeofConductfortheleagueandwedoexpectallofyourplayers/supporters/officialstoadheretoit.Thecommitteetakesallcomplaintsveryseriouslyandwesincerelyhopethattheleaguecancontinueinthespirititisintendedtobe;afriendlyleagueforalltoenjoy.IlookforwardtoanothersuccessfulseasonandwillsendouttheapplicationformfortheleagueatthebeginningofJuly.ThankyouforyoursupportintheeveningleagueandIwishyouallalovelysummerbreak.SARAPALMERPRESS/FUNDRAISINGSECRETARYAspermyreportoflastyearIamreceivingveryfewmatchreportsforprintinginTheCroydonAdvertiserand,asaconsequence,findingitmoredifficulttogetjustificationfromthepaperforprintingtheoddoneortwothatdocomemyway.TheoppositecanbesaidofsocialmediawithourFacebooksite(635members)andWeb-Sitebothbeingupdatedregularlywithresultsandnews.Keepingthesetwositesupdatedis,Iconsider,themostimportantpartofmyroleasPressSecretary.InadditiontomyroleIhavealsobeensourcingwhitejacketsforumpiringladies.ThesearebeingsuppliedbyMayburySportswith

ourCNLLogoon.IampleasedtosaythatweareinoursecondyearwithMayburySportssponsoringCroydonNetballLeague.Iwouldaskourmemberstocontinuetosupportthemwheneverpossible.Adirectlinktotheirwebsitecanbeobtainedfromwww.croydon-netball.co.uk Allfundraisingsincelastyearhasbeenforthefloodlightsatourhomevenue.ThetargetforCNLwas£10,000,whichIamproudtosayhasbeenreached.Wearenowfocusingoncourt7resurfacingandmarkingout.WiththestarttotheNewseason-BSRrafflemoneyraised£90inSeptember2018,withtheChristmasHamperraising£356inDecember2018,£225InFebruary2019fromcommunitymattersWaitrose.TheverysuccessfulQuiznightraising£635March2019,theEndofseasonraffle£123May2019,theeveningleaguerally3rdJuneraffleraised£27withour40thAnniversaryDinner/DanceRaffleJune2019raised£53.WewillalsohavetheVersatilityRaffleattheendofJunetoaddtothetotalwhichIhopewilltakeusoverthe£2,000mark.HopefullyinOctoberwewillagaingoforanothersuccessfulQuiznight.Totalraisedsofar£1991

Ihavetogivethankstoeveryonethatsupportstheseeventsandbuystickets.IknowsomesighalittlewhentheyseemeapproachingtimeaftertimebutI'msuretheywillseethattheircontributionsdomountuptoameaningfulsumthathelpstokeepourLeagueandfacilitiesasstrongastheyare.

ThisseasonCNLhavehostedfourtournaments.ThenewseasonstartedinSeptember2018sawHS1winningtheCupwithCMOasrunnersup.LifelineAwonthePlatewithHS2asrunnersup.TheRoundRobinwinnersLifelineC.BestDefencewinnerswereUnited.LindaOrrissfromLifelinewontheshootingcompetition.Agreatstarttoathenbusyleaguecompetition.

TwentyfiveteamsthenclosedtheseasonwiththeEndofSeasonRallyinMaywithWandsworthvUnitedAfortheCup.Wandsworthwon13goalsto8.TheplatewaswonbyHS1whobeatCrickets12goalsto8.TheRoundRobinwaswonbyLifelineE.BestDefenceofthedaywaswonbyUnitedA.

TwelveteamsenteredtheEveningleagueRallyonMonday3rdJune.ItwasgreattohostatShirleyHighSchool.WinnersoftherallyforthesecondyearrunningwereNRG.RunnersupHS.Averyclosefinalwiththescorewas7-6.

ThispastweekendwehavehostedtheannualVersatilityRally.

Therallieshaveraisedatotalof£242towardscourt7aswellassupportingotherfundraisingforStChristophersHospice(HannahSharp).

Manythankstoalltheumpireswhoumpiretherallies.ThanksalsotoKay,JackieandJuliaforalltheydoatthetournaments.
