Someone..answered Ken and Karriets ad, and they found an

apartment last week. Itts located in the norttrwest district which

ls the part of town they wanted. They signed a one-year lease

yesterday, so the apartment is theirs for one year- The

electricity is supposed to be turned on today after they pay the

deposit that is due. Ttre owner told them that their rent will be

dge the fifth of each month. They were going to pick out the color

!

of paint today, and Karrie decLded she would dye the drapes a color

to go wLth the paint. But they couldn't agree on the colors. They

argued about it for awhile at the paint store, but the argument

didn't last too long. They f inal ly agreed on the colors, and

Karrie wj-ll get the dye tomorrow. They are happy with their

apartment, and there's lots of privacy because there

are no neighbors close by.

Discipl ine is a very important part of a soldierrs training.

A soldj-er rno can't learn discipl ine wil l never be able to work

successful ly in the mil i tary. New soldiers must learn to l isten

to orders and follow them. They must learn about correct

military appearance. They need to learn how and where to display

their insignia on their caps and uniforms. They need to learn

how to display respect to their superiors. They have to learn

when and wtrere and trow to salute. In general, ttrey need to know

how to act in a disciplined, military way. A soldier wtro has

discipline is easier to work with than a soldier with no

discipline because he can be depended on to do what he is

supposed to do. He knows that rules are mandatorY and he must

fo1low them. His leader has indicated to him what he has to do,

He doesntt have to be shown twice-and he does it.

certain things are expected of militarY personnel as a part

of their daiLy lives. one thing they are expected to do is

there Ls a party there, they are expected to go' If they are

NCOs, they participate in games' parties, and gatherings at the

NCO c1ub. They support their clubs by attending them and also by

paying money. A nice thing about the clubs is that they give

ml-l-Ltary personnel a ctrance to associate with each other' They

can talk, eat, and enjoy themselves together. A club is a nice

place for them to gather together and itrs not too expensive'

Military officials do not make officers and NCOs join these
