Science In this unit, students will describe the key features of

our solar system, including planets and stars. They will discuss scientific developments that have affected people's lives and describe details of

contributions to our knowledge of the solar system from a range of people. With guidance, students will pose questions, and plan and conduct investigations to answer questions and solve problems. They will

decide on variables to change and measure to conduct fair tests. Students will communicate their ideas in a variety of multimodal texts including recording in data sheets and as a report for popular media.

Poster/multimodal presentation

Students describe key features of the solar system. They describe how science knowledge develops from many people’s

contributions and explain how scientific developments have affected people's lives and solved problems. Students communicate ideas using multimodal

texts.

HASS

(Humanities and Social

Sciences)

In this unit, students will explore the following key

inquiry question: • How have people enacted their values and perceptions about their community, other people and places, past and present? Learning opportunities support students to: • investigate the key values of Australia's liberal

democratic system of government, particularly the values of freedom, equality, fairness and justice • identify significant past developments, events, individuals and groups that impacted on the development of law and democracy in Australia, particularly the Eureka Stockade and Peter Lalor

• explore representative democracy and voting processes in Australia • investigate how students enact democratic values and processes through participating in school elections • generate alternative responses to a democratic issue and propose action

Students complete a collection of work that investigates democratic values and processes in the school community.

The Arts Drama Students will learn a variety of drama techniques such as staging, pausing, tone, emphasis, role playing,

improvisation and presenting scripted work.

Students will learn two consecutive stanzas from a chosen A.B. Paterson poem and present to an audience. Their

presentation must be animated and capture the spirit of the poem. This will be

undertaken in groups, appropriate costumes can be worn and palm cards may be used.

P.E Unit: Athletics Students will participate in a unit on Athletics. They will develop skills in throwing a shot put and discus with correct technique. Students will

develop long and high jump ability by performing various drills to improve run up, take-off and landing. They will learn basic field event rules and procedures, in preparation for sports day trials and competition. Students will participate in drills to develop sprinting technique leading up to

performance of the 100 and 200m sprint during trials and sports day competition. They will also

participate in the 800m.

Students will be assessed on their proficiency when performing the fundamental movement skills of running,

jumping and throwing during their performance of track and field events.

Music In music lessons this term, students will learn how to play the guitar and continue to develop their singing skills, and knowledge of how to read music.

Students will be assessed on how well they sing in tune, play the guitar and read notes on the bass clef.

LOTE During Term 3 students will continue to learn about Japanese family life and how the traditions, culture and values are similar/different to their own family.

They will also learn about pets and begin to write simple descriptions in Japanese. Students will begin to learn to recognise the Japanese script Hiragana, and participate in a variety of cultural activities aligned with the Japanese calendar.

1. Listening comprehension test about a family.

2. Create a real/fictitious family

album using Book Creator (IPad) to present to the class.

3. Hiragana quiz
