The AIP family is a distributed audio system that is based on the HYDRA protocol and is composed of very versatile TCP / IP network transmitters and receivers that work in any lo-cal network or VLAN.
Currently the devices of the AIP family are:
• Transmitters:
- PC AIP-Go Program- AIP-1020 Microphone- AIP-4010 Transmitter
• Receptors:
- AIP-3010 Receiver
• Others:
- AIP-SPL
It takes only one transmitter and one receiver to have a functional system. You can use as many transmitters and receivers as needed.
A server is not necessary.
The PC program is included free of charge.
HYDRA is a communications protocol and audio streaming over TCP-IP networks that makes devices smart resulting in a fully dis-tributed system.
The main advantages are the following:
• Distributed
Each device performs its function without the need of a server.
• Reliability
As it is decentralized, the system will never stop working due to a broken server.
• Runs on a TCP-IP network
Allows the use of any TCP-IP based data network and can be used on LANs or VLANs.
• Coexistence
Uses multicast connections in a way that does not interfere with other devices on the LAN or VLAN that do not belong to the system.
• Cost saving
Because it is a distributed system, a server is not necessary.
As it operates on TCP-IP and does not interfere with the rest of the devices, it is not necessary to deploy an internal network.
• Plug & play
The HYDRA network is self-confi guring. When a new device is connected to the network, it communicates with the other devices, thus integrating into the system. This is carried out via several means:
- Self discovery.
- Connection status beacons.
- Automatic port forwarding.
- Automatic reconnection.
- General events for device modifi cations.
- Registry of functionalities of other devices.
• Low bandwidth
The audio streams are multicast, allowing the same stream to be used by multiple receivers.
Minimal communication bandwidth.
• Low latency and confi gurable latency
The streams have 3 confi gurable levels of la-tency to adapt to the needs of each network based on latency / data integrity.
System latencies:
• Versatility and Scalability
The devices are mainly divided into transmit-ters and receivers. One single transmitter and one receiver is already a functional system.
You can have as many devices as you want; there are no incompatibilities among the devices.
If new devices are added, it is not necessary to reconfi gure anything.
• Adaptability
All the global parameters of the system can be modifi ed to adapt to special network specifi cations.
• Compatibility and development
The complexity of the HYDRA protocol de-sign lies precisely within its simplicity and fl exibility. This means that it can be applied in different systems or areas, and the imple-mentation of new types of devices is very fast.
