Park Valve

Shunt valve are used to release the brakes on a trailer when it is uncoupled from a tractor unit. The shunt valve is operated by pushing the knob in; this releases the service brakes and allows the trailer to be manoeuvred around the yard without the emergency (red) line being coupled. Brakes are re-applied by pulling the knob out. Also, the valve automatically resets when the emergency line is re-connected.

Park valves are used to apply or release the spring portion on diaphragm spring brakes. Pulling the knob outwards release the air from the spring, which allows the spring to expand, which, in turn applies the brakes. The brakes are released by pushing the knob inwards, which allows air to compress the springs.

Relay Emergency ValveA Relay Emergency Valve is fitted to trailers and operates as a Relay Valve during normal service operation. It speed up the admission and release of large volumes of air, e.g. for the application and release of brakes on a long wheel base vehicle. The consep condenser is fitted in the compressor’s discharge line to prevent oil, liquid water, carbon and dirt entering the brake system. It helps to significantly increase the Air Drier Cartridge life. Oil entering the Air Drier desiccant cartridge would render the desiccant useless. Consep can be easily retrofitted.
