rant, vacuum steam condensers. GEA BTT oers you a

heat exchangers with two structures: in-house Customer
Support Services department; and its subsidiary service

GEA BTT provides spare parts and services or all kinds
o aircooled heat exchangers, GEA BTT is able to perorm
re-engineering o sub-elements and parts designed by
other OEM, designed and manuactured several decadesago. GEA BTT serves you through its network o 3 acto-
ries (France, Qatar and China), 1 service company and
more than 20 distributors worldwide.
GEA BTT perorms thermal re-sizing o existing exchan-

Plug header
Cover plate header
Pipe header
The plug header is suitable or working pressure up to 350 bar. The
plug hole opposite each tube allows expansion o the tube in the tube
sheet,mechanicalcleaning,and pluggingin caseof leakage. In case
o high partial hydrogen pressure, tube attachments can be sealed orstrength welded through the plug hole.
The cover plate header is used or uids with high ouling actors, up
to 40 bar maximum when a requent mechanical cleaning is necessary.
They are used or very corrosive uids to periodically check the corro-
sion allowance.
The pipe header is used or working pressures over 200 bar when no
inner access is necessary. Finned tubes hair pins are assembled with
TIGbuttweld.WeldscanbethermallytreatedandX-rayedifneeded.
Welded bonnet header
The welded bonnet header is used or condensers and vacuum steam
condensers. The advantage is the ull welded construction, perectly
sealed. The tube sheets are directly welded to the maniold.
D type header
A large circular maniold is used when the allowable pressure drop is
very low. This large maniold ensures an equal distribution o uid
ow in the tubes. This type is used or vacuum steam condensers and
rerigeration units.

The in consists o an aluminium strip, which is tension-wrapped and embedded into the core tube wall. This results rom the combined
action o a set o tools. Operating sequences are as ollows:

The aluminium strip oot section is frst ormed into a double L-stepped shape. This results in a fn base twice as large as that o a single L-
shape. The LL-fn strip is then wrapped onto the primary tube so as to obtain an overlap on the 1st stepping o the LL-shaped fn. A continuous
and double strip cover against corrosive environment then efciently protects the primary tube.
An aluminium strip is olded to orm an L-shape and then wound around the base tube. The eet o the ins are joined together so as to
ensure a continuous cover on the primary tube surace. The whole width o the oot o the in is knurled simultaneously with the inner
tube, thus ensuring a tight contact between the spiral in and the primary tube.
A core tube, careully degreased, is itted into an aluminium sleeve. This tube-in-tube assembly is then ed into the inning machine equip-
ped with three spindles , spaced 120 degrees and each itted with a gang disc. These discs, which are stepped in proile and diameter, will irst
extrude and shape the in, and then bond it to the core tube. GEA Batignolles Technologies Thermiques has developed a high perormance
bimetallicextruderwith11fins/inch.Since1992a2-inchdiameterextrudedfinnedtubehasbeenbroughtinproduction.Itcombinesa
large low area with a long lie suitable or vacuum steam condensers.

HumidiferThe humidiier system is mostly used in hot and dry climate
countries when ambient air temperature and product tempera-
ture are too close.
Water droplets are used to reduce ambient air temperature. Then,
the inlet air low is dried through mist elimination blades in order
to avoid inned tubes corrosion.
Fogging system (peak cooling)A ogging system (peak cooling) can be deined as a
serie o misting nozzles that are placed in a tubing and
pressurized to provide a ine spray, usually with droplets
between 15 microns and 50 microns in size. To accom-
plish this, the mist system requires pressure o at least
50Bar(725PSI).
The principle is based on the cooling o the air at a
temperature close to its temperature o adiabatic satu-
ration per water evaporation. Depending on climatic
environment, a properly designed ogging system can
decrease the inlet air temperature by as much as 12C
(54F) which in turn increases considerably your cooling
capacity.

Cleaning
Semi automatic HP cleaning machine
A flat razor-blade sharp water beam is used to remove fouling
from between the fins.
This cleaning process uses only water, no chemicals.
Water pressure is 80 100 bar, low 150 or 300 l/min.
By using the correct nozzle angles the water beam penetrates
between the ins o all tube rows.
The nozzle beam is moved over the bundles by pneumatic or elec-
tric drives, avoiding operators standing on the coolers.
Cleaning can be done during operation.
The cleaning unit is a light weight construction to be positioned
on top o the bundles or on rails installed on the cooler bundles.One cleaning system can handle 2 - 4 air coolers in one day shit.
Obstructions like louvers can be dealt with by installing rails
between the bundle rame and the louvers.
The cleaning-water can be collected and reused ater cleaning.
