AIREYS INLET, HOME OF THE SPLIT POINT LIGHTHOUSE One of the coast’s oldest settlements, Aireys Inlet has grown around the famous Split Point Lighthouse into a beautiful holiday village with breathtaking scenery and an abundance of activities. Discover magnificent scenery from cliff-top and wilderness walks and secluded beaches leading to sheltered coves. Horse riding, fishing, surfing, swimming, hang gliding and paddling a canoe along the creek are some of the other popular activities. www.visitaireysinlet.com THINGS TO SEE & DO > Eagle Rock Marine Sanctuary Noted for its wide diversity of marine invertebrates, particularly molluscs, the site is well used by locals and visitors for education programs. On calm days, a snorkel around the rocks can be very rewarding. > Spion-Kopp Above Moggs Creek is a popular launch site for hang gliders. > Sunnymead, Sandy Gully and Step Beach Providing access to many secluded coves, they are perfect for rockpool rambling, swimming, surfing, snorkelling and beach combing. > Horse Riding Tours Nearby is one of the few guided rides where you can ride horses through the bush and onto the beach. > Split Point Lighthouse Precinct Walk Enjoy a delightful 1km walking circuit including the Split Point Lighthouse, Bark Hut, Allen Noble Sanctuary and a historical trail. The Memorial Cairn, on the Cliff Walk, marks the resting place of early settlers Thomas Butson Pearse and his wife, Martha Pearse. > Split Point Lighthouse Fondly known as “The White Lady”, the Split Point Lighthouse was built in 1891 and towers 34 metres (110 feet). THINGS TO SEE & DO> Otway Harvest Trail

Rich soils, clean and green farming practices, a favourable cool climate and friendly people in the Otway hinterland produce distinctive and exceptional flavours of produce. You’ll see cellar doors, fresh markets, olive groves, berry gardens and creative restaurants, using local produce and spectacular scenery that change and evolve with the four seasons.

> Tennis courts are located next to the Aireys Inlet Community Centre and can be hired by the hour by contacting the number on the gate.

> Skate park, playground and picnic facilities are located beside Painkalac Creek, off Inlet Crescent.

> Playgrounds are located at Aireys Inlet Community Centre, Painkalac Creek reserve and the Bark Hut reserve.

> Great Ocean RoadTake your time to travel the Great Ocean Road and discover some of the most spectacular scenery, waterfall walks and resort towns in Australia.

> Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch at Eastern View See the famous memorial which was erected to commemorate the returned servicemen from World War I who built the Great Ocean Road between 1918 and 1932.

A popular stop for all visitors on the Great Ocean Road, this bronze ‘Diggers’ sculpture provides a great photo opportunity.

> Great Otway National ParkThe national park covers 103,000 hectares and represents all that is special about the Otways. Ancient rainforests are fringed by a spectacularly rugged coastline and studded with some of Victoria’s most striking waterfalls and other attractions.

> Twelve Apostles Region The mighty Twelve Apostles are world recognised icons of the Great Ocean Road. These giant rock stacks soar from the swirling waters of the Southern Ocean and are a central feature of the Port Campbell National Park.

> Urquhart Bluff Between Urquhart Bluff and the Inlet lie many secluded coves perfect for rockpool rambling, swimming, surfing, snorkling and beach combing.

OTHER WALKS> Moggs Creek picnic area This secluded picnic area behind

Moggs Creek (off Old Coach Road) offers a spectacular circuit walk (4.5km) with panoramic views of Eastern View beach and the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch. There is a shorter forest loop (2km) suitable for younger children. Wood BBQs, picnic tables and toilet facilities make this an excellent spot for families.

> Distillery Creek picnic area Along Bambra Road, this delightful area is the starting point for many bush walks and features a bird hide overlooking a wetland area and an amphitheatre. The unique picnic areas feature wood BBQs, picnic tables and toilets making this an inviting spot all year round.
