Requirement: The terminal is to be served with a displacement system, and the system is to be integrated with the building design as envisaged by the architects and the interior design teams. The total supply air is 70,000 m3/h and the temperature difference between the space and the supply air is 3 - 4 K. Solution: A solid LSE stainless steel grid, which consists of reinforced triangular profile 2.3 mm wide was used, and for aesthetic reasons, a free area of 50 % was selected.

280 mm high displacement diffusers were used with 30 mm plinth. The front design is continuous with active as well as non-active elements, all hidden behind the LSE stainless steel front. The 14,000-m3/h-displacement unit at the end of the check-in counter as well as the unit below the escalators are hidden behind the LSE stainless steel panels. All the displacement diffusers have been designed with 0.25 m/s face velocity.

Requirements:

The supply air is to be introduced from the check-in section walls into the retail as well as well as the safety control sections with draft free room air movement. The total supply air volume is 150.000 m3/h. The temperature difference between the supply air and the room air is 8 K for heating and 10 K for cooling. Standard long-range nozzle type units cannot be used for technical and aesthetic reasons, the volume of air too high and the supply units must not be visible. Solution: 186 special diffusers were designed to cope with the demand and the check-in section configuration.

Each unit comprises special swirl diffusers, with alternate units incorporating long-range nozzles; all are fitted into the vertical front face of the unit. The flow through the front face of the unit is 530 m3/h. The bottom of each unit is fitted with a slot diffuser with a flow of 300 m3/h.

The units are located within a false ceiling above the check-in counters forming a continuous line and the whole front is hidden behind a specially designed panel. The optimum distribution of airflow for the retail as well as the safety control sections was established with the help of flow simulation (GTD in Dresden, Germany).

Requirement:

The airport main hall and the arrivals hall are to be served with a displacement system. The total supply air is 45000 m3/h and the face velocity is to be approximately 0.3 m/s. The temperature difference between supply air and room air is 3 K and the noise level is limited to 45 dB(A).

Solution:

Eight rectangular diffusers each with three way supply were designed to cope with the demand and also to resist any damage that could be caused by baggage trolleys. The displacement diffusers consist of a steel profile frame with air outlet elements of perforated plate, which are reinforced at the back by a 30 mm thick steel grating. Perforated steel cylinders provide the air distribution within the diffuser perforated plate integral throttles. The displacement diffuser outer surface is powder coated to RAL 9007.
