INDUSTRY OVERVIEW: GLOBAL PROSPECTS AND POLICIES
World growth strengthened in 2017 to 3.8 percent, with a notable rebound in global trade. It was driven by an investment recovery in advanced economies, continued strong growth in emerging Asia, a notable upswing in emerging Europe, and signs of recovery in several commodity exporters. Global growth is expected to tick up to 3.9 percent this year and next, supported by strong momentum, favorable market sentiment, accommodative financial conditions, and the domestic and international repercussions of expansionary fiscal policy in the United States. The partial recovery in commodity prices should allow conditions in commodity exporters to gradually improve. Over the medium term, global growth is projected to decline to about 3.7 percent. Once the cyclical upswing and US fiscal stimulus have run their course,
prospects for advanced economies remain subdued, given their slow potential growth. In emerging market and developing economies, in contrast, growth will remain close to its 2018– 19 level as the gradual recovery in commodity exporters and a projected increase in India’s growth provide some offset to China’s gradual slowdown and emerging Europe’s return to its lower-trend growth rate. Nevertheless, 40 emerging market and developing economies are projected to grow more slowly in per capita terms than advanced economies, failing to narrow income gaps vis-à-vis the group of more prosperous countries. Despite strong aggregate figures in the baseline forecast and buoyant market sentiment, the current momentum is not assured. Upside and downside risks are broadly balanced over the next several quarters, but risks farther down the road are skewed to the downside. With still-easy financial conditions and persistently low inflation that has required protracted monetary policy accommodation, a potential further buildup of financial vulnerabilities could give way to rapid tightening of global financial conditions, denting confidence and growth. The support to growth that comes from procyclical policies, including in the United States, will eventually need to be reversed. Other risks include a shift toward inward-looking policies that harm international trade and a worsening of geopolitical tensions and strife. The current favorable juncture offers a window to enact policies and reforms that protect the upswing and raise medium-term growth to the benefit of all—strengthening the potential for higher and more inclusive growth, building buffers that will help deal more effectively with the next downturn, improving financial resilience to contain financial market risks, and fostering international cooperation.

Introduction
What is merchant export ?
Merchant Export is a popular term used in Foreign Trade, is a method of Trading Export which is equally important to the manufacturer-exporter. The person who is engaged in the merchant export is called as 'Merchant Exporter'.
“Merchant Exporter” means a person engaged in trading activity and exporting or intending to export goods. They may not have their own manufacturing unit or processing facility.
Merchant Exporters are instrumental in a boosting of country’s exports especially products from MSME and small manufacturers. Merchant exports generates the foreign exchange for the Country like normal exports and is mainly engaged in export of goods and not services.
Merchant Exporters account for around 35 percent of the total exports, help boost outbound Merchandise Shipments.
Merchant Exporters receives orders from international market and then procure goods from the Indian manufacturers mostly from MSME / labour-intensive sectors such as agriculture, textiles, leather, handicraft and machinery and sell them abroad in their firm’s name.
Merchant Exporters are usually able to negotiate prices with buyers, sellers and shipping lines which are more competitive and better than regular exporters.
Since they procure mostly from MSMEs, thereby help in increasing production of MSME giving a fillip to employment generation as MSMEs are generally in the employment-intensive sectors.
Advantages of exporting through merchant operators
Merchant Exporting is more suitable for a small company which does not possess adequate financial and managerial resources required for making a successful entry in to a foreign market.
8
The main advantages are:
> The merchant exporter takes care of all botherations involved and assumes all sales and credit risks
> Export merchants usually finance manufacturers against purchase of their goods. Hence their capital is not tied up.
> The firm does not have to spend money on market research or on setting up branches abroad.
> They are frequently arranges overseas buyers and provide sales opportunities
> The manufacturer is free to concentrate on production and not to bother about export marketing and other export formalities.
> Export entry through merchant exporters is the easiest and least costly.
> Selling through such merchant exporters automatically ensures that the goods will reach the important distributors and through them down the distribution system and therefore enable penetration of product and brand image in the overseas markets

We offer an exquisite range of ever demanding and unique Milk & Dairy products like butter, cheese, ghee, yogurt, milk powder. These food products are also widely in market demand and can easily be provided as per clients requirements.
(b). Pickles / chutneys. - Pickles are an important part of Indian cusine. It is a way of preserving vegetables that are out of season, as well of spicing up the everyday food and snacks. There are hundreds of pickles in India, each family has their own favourites. Here is a selection of some of my favourite pickles and chutneys. Do try a few, they can be used with non-Indian foods too, including sandwiches.
(c). Ready to eat - Kitchens of India specializes in bringing to life age-old Indian dishes from across ... Kitchens of India meals are packaged in 'keep fresh' packs, so that you can enjoy ... and made available to you in convenient shelf stable Ready-to-Eat packs.
13
(d). Animal and poultry feed - We offer an exquisite range of ever demanding and unique high quality animal feed, poultry feed, cattle feed, feed supplements, camel feed, deer feed, horse feed, pigeon feed, rabbit feed, pig feed, goat feed, duck feed, ostrich feed, sheep feed, cattle feed, poultry feed, dog feed and more. These products are also widely in market demand and can easily be provided as per clients requirements
( e). Spices - Indian spices include a variety of spices grown across the Indian subcontinent (a sub-region of South Asia). With different climates in different parts of the country, Indiaproduces a variety of spices, many of which are native to the Subcontinent, while others were imported from similar climates and have since been cultivated locally for centuries.
14
Spices are used in different forms - whole, chopped, ground, roasted, sauteed, fried and as topping. They blend food to extract the nutrients and bind them in a palatable form. Some spices are added at the end as a flavouring and are typically heated in a pan with ghee or cooking oil before being added to a dish. Lighter spices are added last, and spices with strong flavour should be added first. Curry is not a spice, but a term used by western people and refers to any dish in Indian cuisine that contains several spices blended together and could be with a gravy base or a dry item.
15
(f). Vegetable oil - A vegetable oil process and assembly is disclosed for extracting oil from an oil bearing material such as soybean, ground nut, sunflower, corn and the like. The process comprises adding at least one reagent to the oil bearing material to form a slurry mixture. The slurry is heated at a preselected temperature for a preselected period of time preferably under a partial vacuum. This processing reduces the phospholipid and trace metal content in the oil extracted from the oil heating material. The oil product produced is light in color, shows no turbidity and exhibits minimal amount of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium and iron.
(g). Rice
Rice is the seed of the monocot plants Oryza sativa or Oryza glaberrima. As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia.
(h) Tea - Teas in general are good for health as these have antioxidants (Flavonoids and Catechins) that scavenge free radicals. Our body ceates free radicals as a bi-product of liviing. These free radicals attempt to oxidize lipids, contributing to old-age diseases. Catechins have been shown to be more effective scavengers than other antioxidants like vitamin C and E, making them very good for human systems.
Special article
Effect of covid 19 on merchant exporters like ankita overseas
Even before the Indian government could wake up to the realities of the COVID pandemic, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), probably, had an epiphany. With the country’s exports showing no signs of a meaningful recovery, India’s premier foreign trade agency issued a circular on 26th February, vide which it reduced the average Export Obligation (EO) for exporters who had availed authorisations under the Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) scheme.
Applicable to all exporters who operate in sectors that had seen a five percent or more drop in exports over the preceding year, the move was expected to provide some much-needed relief. But that was then.
16
(a) policy paralysis - While the short run repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on India’s trade are somewhat foreseeable, its long to medium term fallout are anything but it.
(b) lost in transit - Another most likely fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic is that countries are increasingly likely to adopt more and more protectionist measures. While countries, particularly those exporting finished manufacturing goods, with established export markets, are likely to wade through such an environment, those like India that are dependent on intermediate and agricultural exports and are on the lookout to tap newer markets, are likely to find the going tougher.
(C) silver lining - While the gloom and doom surrounding COVID-19 is palpable, the crisis might also throw up some great opportunities for India. There are already reports of several Western manufacturers looking at moving their factories out of China.
Export documentation in ankita overseas
17
Exporters should seriously consider having the freight forwarder handle the formidable amount of documentation that exporting requires; freight forwarders are specialists in this process. The following documents are commonly used in exporting; which of them are actually used in each case depends on the requirements of both our government and the government of the importing country.
1. Commercial invoice
2. Bill of lading
3. Consular invoice
4. Certificate of origin
5. Inspection certification
6. Dock receipt and warehouse receipt
7. Destination control statement
8. Insurance certificate
9. Export license
10. Export packing list

Chapter-4
Conclusion -
(1) Exporter should have the details knowledge of the features of the products, its technical specification, a variety of the product and uses of the product.
2. The merchant exporter should evaluate the supplier/manufacture of in totality. He should develop the good relations with the higher management of the manufacturer.
3.The exporter should not give over and undue importance to the price at the time of placing the order.
4.Your purchase order should be prepared on the basis of the order received from the overseas.
5. Merchant exporter should keep good information of alternative manufacturer / suppliers. Generally he should keep more than one supplier to maintain the consistency of the business and reduce the dependency.
