Nestled in the Eastern Emirates, Al Ain city is a cradle of UAE history and gives you many spots to be ex-plored and amazing adventures to be experienced.

Jebel HafeetRising 1,240 metres, Jebel Hafeet is the emirate’s highest peak, and the UAE’s second. The towering rocky height is standing guard over Al Ain and Oman borders. Signifi-cant fossil discoveries have been made in the area, which are vital pieces in the jigsaw of the city’s an-cient history. Over 500 ancient burial tombs dating back 5,000 years have been found in the Jebel Hafeet foothills.

Al Ain Palace Musuem The former home of the late UAE founder Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the palace was once a po-litical and social hub. Built in 1910, the building became a museum in 1998. Mercure Grand Hotel Jebel Hafeet, situated at over 3,000 feet on a picturesque mountain, prom-ises and delivers sheer tranquillity. The mesmerising location capti-vates its visitors who are pam-pered by Accor hospitality.

“With everything that is mod-

ern within our hotel, with every-thing that is traditional and rich in history outside the hotel in Al Ain and the Hafeet area, it is an entic-ing, hard-to-resist combination for any guest,” says its General Manager Hani Al Khoury.

Jebel Hafeet is a must-see loca-tion for every tourist visiting the UAE; and the hotel is an ideal place to reside in for an enjoyable experience. Even in the peak of summer, Hafeet is a good 8 to 10 degree Celsius cooler than the rest of the country, making it an ulti-mate destination to escape the heat.

Popular among corporate guests and families, the venue has a live band playing every day with Ara-bic and Columbian singers ren-dering soulful, soft music. The Arabic-styled tents in the lobby add to privacy, a bonus for those

wanting their own little space, while its buffet offers cuisines to tantalise every taste bud.

Al Khyama Restaurant is popu-lar during winter. Complimentary shawls and clothes are a feature of its warm hospitality, alongside lively Arabic melody. Eden Rock restaurant overlooks Al Ain City in all its splendour and offers an in-teresting mix of Turkish, French, German and Lebanese cuisine.

Horizon is wholly owned by Mubadala, an Abu Dha-bi-based investment and develop-ment company, and is part of Mubadala Aerospace, the business unit responsible for establishing Abu Dhabi as an integrated global aerospace hub.

Established in September 2003, training at Horizon is approved by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and the first batch of students graduated from the acad-emy in March 2005 after complet-ing a 47-week Helicopter Com-mercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Course.

In 2007 the first batch of Aero-plane pilots joined the Integrated Frozen Air Transport Pilot License (ATPL) course — the 12 students were the first group from the Eti-had Airways cadet training pro-gramme. This initiative was in line with the Emiratisation programme and the policies of the UAE gov-ernment, vital in developing a strong local workforce.

With state-of-the-art facilities and a multi-national team of expe-rienced instructors, Horizon’s training programmes are delivered with the highest standards of safe-ty, quality and efficiency. Standard and tailor-made training solutions are offered to commercial and military customers across the South Asia, Middle East and North Africa region with over 700 pilots and instructors graduated to-date.

Commenting on this achieve-ment, Hareb Thani Al Dhaheri, the Academy’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our goal is to be recognised globally as the acade-my of choice, we want to expand and cater to not only regional but world markets.”

Demand for pilots is growing both regionally and globally, and Horizon is set to support this growth as well as embrace the op-portunities that it presents. Also, in alignment with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 plan to create a diverse, sus-tainable and high-tech, knowl-edge-intensive economy for Emi-rati nationals, Horizon is committed to producing a new benchmark in quality for the next generation of international, re-gional and Emirati pilots.

eastern Motors (EM) is the Al Ain-based automotive arm of its parent company Al Fahim Group, which was established in 1958 by the late Abdul Jalil Mohammed Al Fahim. It is currently managed by a board of directors of the second and third generation of the Al Fa-him family with a corporate mis-sion — to deliver exceptional ser-vices and innovative solutions striving to exceed all stakeholders’ expectations.

Although it was earlier present in Al Ain under another name, the company started operations as Eastern Motors in 1997.

Eastern Motors deals with new and used car sales, automotive parts and power tools sales. It is a service centre for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, body shop, tyre fitment, and a 24–hour com-mercial vehicles workshop built exclusively for the Department of Transport. EM are the authorised dealers for Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, and Fiat brands of vehicles, Mi-chelin tyres and Bosch auto parts and power tools in Al Ain. The used cars from EM are usually of the brands it represents and have a ser-vice history.

Dubai, and follow-up of Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minis-ter for Presidential Affairs, to en-courage UAE nationals working in the private sector by securing di-verse job opportunities and provid-ing them with discounts and special offers within our companies,” com-ments Nassim J. Mourani, General Manager of Eastern Motors.

Following keenly the core values of humanity, honesty, substance, foresight and innovation of Al Fa-him Group, EM also takes a genu-ine interest in its business partners, employees and the community. The company endorses several so-cial, sports and cultural activities in Al Ain partnering with governmen-tal and non-governmental institu-tions to sponsor events at Al Ain Rugby, Equestrian Club, Shooting and Golf Clubs and participate ac-tively in the breast cancer aware-ness campaigns every year. EM personnel also work closely with the Al Ain Traffic Department to promote safety on the roads.

“We constantly refer to Plan Al Ain 2030 to customise our growth and the progress of the people here in the sustainable way the Plan en-visages. Moreover, our growth plan is in line with that of the brands we represent and also with the growth of Al Ain city,” says Mourani.

EM have embarked on greater expansion of its current facilities which will feature a modern and

dedicated Mercedes-Benz show-room, interactive service centre in-cluding a quick service facility, sep-arate showrooms for Jeep and Fiat, and a large display area for Michelin and Bosch products. Mourani ex-plains, “The facility will harness and showcase all our world-leading brands while readying a passage for us to grow in the next decade and become a landmark in Al Ain. It will

take us further in our quest to serve our brands, customers, employees and the city better.”
