One of the very first CTE classes that I attended at Graham High School one year ago, was Core and Sustainable Construction. Although construction may not be the exact path that I chose to go down, it has helped me realize that I wanted a hands-on job for the future. Although the fire technology classes were not originally what sparked my interest in firefighting, joining Swepsonville Fire Department as a Fire Explorer two years ago was, it has certainly propelled my knowledge and interest for firefighting. Since joining the Fire Technology class, I have learned many valuable skills such as: rolling hose, water extinguishers, sprinkler systems, ropes, personal protective equipment, and much more. Moving forward I plan to attend the North Carolina Future Firefighter Challenge in Asheville. After the summer, I plan to join the United State Marine Corps to be an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighter and work in aviation. ALAMANCE-BURLINGTON SCHOOL SYSTEM

CTE STUDENT OF THE YEAR

Elijah Beaudry

Career and Technical Education has made a

tremendous impact on decisions that I will and

have made regarding my future. One of the very

first CTE classes that I attended at Graham High

School one year ago, was Core and Sustainable

Construction. Although construction may not be

the exact path that I chose to go down, it has

helped me realize that I wanted a hands-on job

for the future.

My favorite CTE class, however, has to be Fire

Technology. I have already taken Fire Technology

1, along with its partnering class Public Safety.

Although the fire technology classes were not

originally what sparked my interest in firefighting,

joining Swepsonville Fire Department as a Fire

Explorer two years ago was, it has certainly

propelled my knowledge and interest for

firefighting. Since joining the Fire Technology

class, I have learned many valuable skills such

as: rolling hose, water extinguishers, sprinkler

systems, ropes, personal protective equipment,

and much more.

Moving forward I plan to attend the North

Carolina Future Firefighter Challenge in Asheville.

After the summer, I plan to join the United State

Marine Corps to be an Aircraft Rescue and

Firefighter and work in aviation.

I would like to thank my teacher Mr. Davis for

putting up with me and making sure I got

through all of my modules. I would like to thank

Graham High School for awarding me CTE

Student of the Year, and I would like to thank

everyone who came out to see me and the others

receive their awards.
