The name belongs to a famous and important Italian graphic artist, born in Milan in 1913 and dead in Raffadali in 1974. There are about 100 teachers and 1012 students and it has three institutes: the head seat, situated near the centre of the city, and two other branches. One of them is Balbis, specialized in photography and advertising while the “succursale” is specialized in graphic arts and advertising and is situated in the southwest outskirts of the city. The third one is the main seat with the offices that includes graphics, advertising and an audio-visual curriculum. 6 classes take part in the SCENA project: 3G, 4G, 3F, 4F, 4H at the “succursale” (the south-west seat). They are all into graphics and advertising. 4Fo (Fo means fotografi) at the Balbis institute in the city centre. They are more into photography. The subjects that we study are Graphics, Photography, Visual Communication, Advertising Planning, History Of Art, Literature, Math, History, Psychology, English and P.E. Moreover, during the fourth and the fifth year, there is an additional course for the use of some graphic software that we have to attend one day a week in the afternoon. This is a particular year for our school because it’s a year of school reforms that are causing enormous changes. Anyway this school gives a quite complete preparation about the graphics and the world of the advertising although to work as graphic artist is necessary an additional specialization, especially about web design.
