HELPERS’ MORNING TEA- Yesterday at recess the staff shared their
baking (or shopping) skills with the family and
community members who assist in our classrooms, at
sporting activities and on special occasions. We very
much appreciate the assistance these people
provide to us throughout the year. THANK YOU!
FIVE GOLDS MORNING TEA– This will be held next Wednesday 30
November at 11:00am, for all those students who have received 5
gold certificates. Students have been given invitations today.
2017 STUDENT COUNCILLORS– Congratulations to all the Year 5 nominees for the 2017 Student Council
who have recently been through the speech and election processes recently. Our 2016 Student
Leaders have really lifted the bar this year and I am sure from that the following students will maintain
the high standards set this year, by all of our leaders, especially in the activities they have undertaken
with other students in the school. Voting took place last Monday and the successful candidates were
announced to the nominees on Thursday. Our 2017 Student Councillors are: Alexander Lutton, Harriet
Murphy, Hayley Coulter, Jack Hodgson, Jack Kelso, Jessica Kemp , Lochie Semmler, Oscar McMaster,
Shreya Raha, Sophia Clift, Spencer Robertson and Zach Williams.
The 2017 School Captains and Vice Captains (from the above 12 students), will be announced at
Presentation Day on Wednesday 7 December. Voting for House Captains will take place on Friday
afternoon this week and announced in the newsletter next week.
DIARY DATES- A reminder that parents/carers and friends are invited to attend the following
Graduations and Presentation Days in Weeks 9 & 10. We hope you can join us for these important
school events.

SWIM SCHOOL- Swim school commenced on Monday and will conclude next Friday. Please ensure your
child brings their swimming gear every day (regardless of the weather). On Monday next week,
(28 November) the times for swim school have changed, due to maintenance at the pool. NB- Our two swim sessions will be at 1:00pm and 1:45pm.
ENTERING SCHOOL GROUNDS- If you enter our school grounds, please remember it is a safe place for
our students. You would not like it if someone else approached or spoke inappropriately to your child,
please have the same respect for others.
SEMESTER TWO STUDENT REPORTS- All teachers are currently very busy writing and reviewing Semester 2
Student Reports. These reports reflect the academic and social progress your child has made during the
semester. These reports will be sent home on Wednesday 7 December, with the newsletter.

SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR- This week, Sophie Irvine (Year 5)and Natasha Simuong (Year 6) in 5/6LP will be performing at the Schools Spectacular performance in Sydney as members of the Riverina Dance Ensemble. Congratulations, Natasha and Sophie. Christel Pargeter, 5/6LP Class Teacher. YEAR 6 AMBITION DAY- Last week, the Year 6 students enjoyed coming dressed up in a costume for their Ambition Day. It was wonderful to see the variety of careers the Year 6 students would like to pursue. Well done, Year 6. Christel Pargeter, Coordinator.
SPORTS NEWS PSSA SOFTBALL:- Our team were defeated by St Pats 19 – 4. Ian, Jonathon, Ryan and Joel were
the only players to make home runs. Well done boys! It was a really close game between APS 2 and HPS with HPS winning by one run 12 – 11. Naomi, Georgia, Erin, Zoe and Natasha all made home runs. Great effort girls! This week the games are: the boys have a bye, APS1 play ST Pats 1, APS 2 play AWPS and APS 3 play LEPS. Next week we will
play each other as all our teams have byes. Thanks again to parents who give up their valuable time to assist with coaching, umpiring and scoring. Lynn Macleod, Coordinator. PSSA CRICKET- PSSA Blue Cricket:- Last week Albury Blue played Lavington at Black Range Park. The juniors came out ahead with Albury making 3-57 and Lavington hitting 9-19. The seniors were a closer game with Lavington hitting 9-76 and Albury making 3-50. An honourable mention to Nathaniel for his first wicket and David and Harper with the bat for hitting over 20 to retire. In the seniors Jonah for his bowling, Lochie for his batting and Caleb for his great sportsmanship. This week we play Lavington East at Collings Oval. Joel Border, Albury Blue Coordinator.
PSSA Gold Cricket:- On Friday 18 November, both the Junior and Senior Gold teams played against very competitive and skilled St Pats Gold teams. The Juniors made 48 runs, for the loss of 6 wickets to St Pats’ 72 runs. The Seniors made 59 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and were narrowly defeated by St Pats’ 64 runs. This week the Gold teams will play at Norris Park Oval against Lavington Gold. Christel Pargeter, Albury Gold Coordinator. NAIDOC GALA DAY- Year 6 students participated in a very enjoyable NAIDOC Rugby League Gala day on Thursday 3 November at Jelbart Park. Following the official ceremony and Welcome to Country, the students participated in Aboriginal language and games workshops, traditional dance and artefacts sessions. The students found out about the Festival of the Bogong Moth and the significance of Mungabareena and during this workshop they painted a mural which will be displayed at school. After the barbecue lunch, they practised rugby league skills and played a mini-touch football game. They all enjoyed the disco which was lead by DJ Steve Bowen throughout the day. At the conclusion of the activities, our school captains, Phoebe Grigg and Mitchell Lawes accepted a participation certificate, which features symbolic art work of the Murray River, on behalf of the Year 6 students. It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the sad news with our school community that Simone will be leaving her position at the canteen at the end of the year. It has been great working with her. As sad as this is, it does open the opportunity for someone in our school community to apply for this wonderful position. This is a great job if you have young children at school. It is a 5 day fortnight and is within school hours There is no need to organise school holiday care as you work the school terms!! Fantastic.
