…the singer
"Alexandra Legouix and The Sunflowers are a
sophisticated but accessible fusion of Latin, jazz and pop influences. We make
music that people can relate to on many different levels... think about it... chill
to it... dance to it... make love to it...Funky, modern, relevant lyrics and tunes,
set to a backing skilfully provided by vastly experienced musicians"
Winning BBC Introducing (Berkshire) in January 2010 helped launch Alexandra into the
limelight and provided her with new and exciting opportunities. In April, Alexandra and
her newly formed band (The Sunflowers!) played the BBC Introducing gig in Reading
with much success - landing new gigs as a result and developing a bigger and more loyal
fan base.
They then went on to perform on the main stage at the Inside:Outside Festival in
Reading and headline both the Wokingham Food and Drinks Festival 2010 and Vivacity
Festival 2010.
As well as support from the BBC, they have received much press attention and recently
have had featured articles in a number of local and national newspapers. They have been
headline and support acts at many top venues including: The Troubadour, The Bedford,
Monto Water Rats, The Cobden Club, Café de Paris, RichMix for Jazz FM Radio to name a
small few and their music is being played regularly on the radio in the UK, Europe and in
South America and doing very well in Brazil!
They released their EP 'FACEBOOK' in December and then their next EP ‘LET’S GO’ has
recently been released on to iTunes and all other leading online distributors. They have
written an additional 6 songs that are being recorded this month.
In July 2010 Alexandra was asked to present the very prestigious Miss Great Britain
awards. This opened new doors in the presenting world and after being seen on Latin TV
and Fame TV she was asked to present and host for many different events, festivals and
fashion shows. In August she landed a regular TV job presenting on SKY TV – very
exciting times indeed.
And 2011 has continued in this vein. Alexandra is still number one in the Latin genre of
Indie Charts after 10 weeks; they have just done a live interview and session on Bucks
TV; a live recording for Imperial Radio; countless air plays now on various radio stations
including Q Radio, Leicester HFM, Jazz FM, Awesome Radio, Sine FM, TD1, Preston FM,
The Overflow, Pure 107, Leith FM, Women’s Radio, Heart FM Spain - to name but a few;
a live show for JAZZ FM and Rich Mix; they have been performing at many festivals
including Reading, Wokingham, CityFest, Windsor; Farnham; and they have been
interviewed/reviewed recently by Buzzin, Qmunicate Magazine, All Gigs, Acoustic
Magazine, Spark Magazine, Woho Music, France Magazine, Fame Magazine, Butterfly
Music, Ent Focus, Femmusic and many more. They will soon be heading to Spain to
perform at the Heart FM THINK PINK CHARITY CONCERT (Oct 2011) too!
Alexandra has also been presenting for McLaren F1 Racing at the awesome McLaren
Technology Centre interviewing Jenson and Lewis and discussing all things F1 and she
has recently landed herself a new job presenting on Gems TV SKY755 which she will do
alongside her other regular TV work.

A refreshing change
These days it’s difficult to
find something that isn’t
completely synthesised on
a computer, or recycled
pop tunes. Due to this
when I came across
‘Alexandra Legouix and
the Sunflowers’, I found
myself pleasantly
surprised. This past week
I have found myself
listening to music like Bob
Marley and Otis Redding and was wandering where I could find something similar. Then
as if in answer to my thoughts I found this group in the depths of my inbox.
Now when you listen to them, you may find the link I made strenuous at best. To tell
you the truth it is, but to me they share a similar feel to them that suits my current
choice in music. When you look closer it is not so strange as they themselves said that
they have ‘created a sophisticated but accessible fusion of Latin, jazz, soul, reggae and
pop influences.’
It goes without saying that it will not suit everyone’s taste. No music ever does, but I
believe that those with a more open mind will find this a pleasant change in direction
from the mainstream music we currently have to listen to. I think I am safe in saying
that this is a group that have found a style that suits themselves perfectly, and this will always be better than those who simply try to follow trends.
Having won BBC introducing in January the group have gone from one success to
another gaining fans and support along the way. If this is any indication the music scene
in 2011 will be taking an interesting turn. A turn that I am greatly looking forward to.
This is yet another band that I have come across that I will be following with great expectations.
INDIELONDON: ALEXANDRA LEGOUIX & THE SUNFLOWERS – LET’S GO
EP: Alexandra Legouix and the Sunflowers can proudly lay claim to delivering a
sophisticated but accessible fusion of Latin,
jazz, soul, reggae and pop influences. All are
evident on their current EP, Let’s Go. Title
track and lead single Let’s Go sets things
rolling in fine fashion, featuring some funky
percussion, Latin influenced guitar, a jazzy but breezy vibe and the disarming vocals of
Alexandra – who really should win your heart. It’s an ambitious blend, but a deeply
satisfying one – the sense of fun they obviously had in recording it, translating well to
the listener. The Latin vibe is maintained over Balcony of Wonders, which drops the kind
of sultry sax interludes and slinky beats that give off the aura of a cool breeze on a hot
day. Lola, on the other hand, drops some fantastic, Cuban-style percussion (complete
with maracas) and a playful vocal to match the teasing lyrics, and some subtle Spanish
guitar licks. The remainder of the EP is similarly fun, flirty and impressive – thereby
confirming Alexandra Legouix & the Sunflowers as an act to keep your eye on!

“A future star… set for Hollywood’s Walk of Fame” Wokingham Times
“Alexandra’s voice delivers… she emanates song writing skill…excellent” Review by Pruneau
MAGAZINE
EP:Let's Go
Alexandra Legouix's at times breathy vocals meld into
a sultry soul funk has had the audacity to go out and
pull a set of Latin rhythms. "Let's Go" is populated
with the sort of characters that get you shot on the
floor of Brazilian night clubs and then die of broken
hearts. Alexandra possess a voice that oozes sex appeal, the sort of voice that'll bed you
and then take your wallet as it walks out your flat and nicks your neighbours milk on the
way past. As an ep, it's worth buying to hear the high groove satire that she signs off the EP with, "Facebook"
TALENT SCENE
“Now to 2010. Only in February and already
Alexandra has had good news. Last month
Alexandra won ‘BBC Introducing’ with her
track ‘Drawing Me’. “BBC Introducing is the
brand for new music programmes across the
BBC showcasing unsigned, self-signed and
other emerging musical talent primarily from
the UK”. This puts Alexandra in the running to be chosen to play on the BBC Introducing
stage at major festivals such as Reading, Glastonbury and the like - a major success that
has provoked more interest from industry majors. Production and writing team, Red
Rhythm - who have worked with artists like Ashanti, Aaliyah, Sting, Liberty X, Run DMC,
Sean Paul, Leona Lewis, and are currently in collaboration with Pussycat Dolls own and
‘Got to Dance’ judge, Kimberly Wyatt – are keen to get Alexandra into the studio to write new tracks and have shown a massive support for her and her future career.”

GAYDAR NATION interviews Alexandra Legouix…
As gorgeous Alexandra Legouix gets set to release the
EP Let’s Go with her band The Sunflowers, we spoke to
her about love, sex, music and dancing in
London fountains.
So tell us a bit about the new EP Let’s Go – what can we expect?
'Let’s Go' is the title track from our newest EP. It is a sexy, groovy number that gets
you moving to the beat, inspired by the feeling created when people experience passion
and new romance. We all know how fun that bit is! I absolutely love performing it for
this reason as it invokes real feeling for me and I have been told that listeners often feel the same way - hopefully you will too!
'Balcony of Wonder' was one of the first tracks we wrote as The Sunflowers. Martyn's
(co-writer) skill on the guitars took me to that tranquil place - often felt when you are
sitting on the balcony on a warm summers evening with a good G 'n' T - and inspired me to write rolling lyrics about life.
What are you most proud of about the EP?
I really feel the mood of the songs has been captured perfectly. Even though I am
biased, I truly believe that when people put the album on they go, "Ah yeah, I can relate
to this, relax to this, feel to this and dream to this - or even make love to this!", which is exactly what The Sunflowers music is all about.
What was it like to record?
We work very closely with a fantastic producer called Dave Ecclestone at Hill Valley
Studios in High Wycombe. The equipment there is world class and Dave really takes the
time with us to get the feeling right. Therefore studio days are great - very productive,
very enjoyable and we often have a really good laugh together during the process too which is very important. Find out more at www.hillvalleystudios.co.uk.
What’s in store for the crowd at a live performance?
Our live shows really are where The Sunflowers get a chance to shine. The standard of
our musicians is very high and because we put so much work into getting our tracks slick, the quality of our performances is often very high.
We are often told by audience members that we took them
on a journey through different emotions and they always
leave on a high, having got up and had a good old dance
and a giggle, especially to the comedic reggae song we
always perform as a show closer - 'Facebook'. It's also available on iTunes and all distributors.
"I truly believe that when people put the album on
they go, 'Ah yeah, I can relate to this, relax to this,
feel to this and dream to this - or even make love to
this!', which is exactly what The Sunflowers music is all about."
What would be your fantasy gig?
Our dream is to play this year at Glastonbury. It really
would be a dream gig for us. We are so well suited to the festival scene. We did
some good festivals last year and we have already been asked to play at the same
WWW.WITHPANACHE.CO.UK
ones this year, but we are really holding out hopes that we will get to perform on
the BBC Introducing stage at Glasto, having won this accolade in 2010.
When did you first realise you had musical talent?
From a very young age, I was dancing around the living room. I
was obsessed with Cats the musical and would endlessly sing
numbers from the show for my parents. This passion for
performing continued throughout school and I took up drama and dance. In fact, that is about all I cared about at school!
Then after doing Performing Arts at college level, I auditioned for
a number of theatre schools. I chose to go to Redroofs Theatre
School because that was where one of my idols - Kate Winslet -
had trained and I hoped to follow in her showbiz footsteps. Since
then, I haven’t looked back. I dedicate my life and soul to performing and will never do anything else.
I am also a regular presenter (Sky869, Cohesive TV, Miss GB to name a few) and so
I am one of the few lucky enough to say that performing is my full time career - but
it has not come easy! Ambition, hard work, passion and dedication are my life words.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! And also to stay confident. A good friend
and top producer, Cliff Randall (Red Rhythm Studios), said to me last year that
positivity is key in this industry. People can sense negativity and desperation a mile off and they encourage negative outcomes.
Positivity breeds positive things. I have always considered myself to be fairly
positive but he opened up some new thought doors for me and it really worked. A
big, honest smile and love of life goes a long, long way.
"It is nice to be around guys who will actually have a good dance and a laugh with me rather than the stuffy straight guys!"
Do you hit the gay clubs much on a night out?
Actually, I do quite a lot. Most of my closest male friends are gay and so I often join
them at various different clubs in town. It is always a great laugh. It is nice to be
around guys who will actually have a good dance and a laugh with me rather than the stuffy straight guys!
Finish the sentence: A good night out starts with... A Gin and Tonic, some great music and some great friends.
It ends with...
Dancing in the fountains, fully clothed, and laughing with friends
at 6am in central London whilst watching the sun rise. Trust me.
I did this pretty much every morning after a night out last summer! Amazing fun!
It’s our round – what are you having?
Good, I'm glad it's your round, I am far too skint at the
moment! [Laughs]. I would like a G 'n' T please. Or if you can make one well, I'd love a Mojito!
What comes first for you – sex or love?
I am meant to say love, aren't I? But it's never the case! And anyway, love takes
years to develop properly and you need the other bit to deepen the love bit! I have to keep practising while I'm waiting for the 'love' bit too, right? [Smiles].
When the phone rings, who do you hope is calling?
Hmm, at the moment, I'm hoping it will be a call to tell me that we have been selected to play at Glastonbury 2011. It is always in my vision.
What are your plans for the EP and beyond?
Well, we hope our worldwide fan base will continue to grow. We have great things
happening at the moment. 'Let's Go' has been selected for the Coffee Jazz album
and also as the theme tune to a new holiday show that is in the running for commissioning from Channel 4.
We have an interview and live lounge coming up at Jazz FM,
BBC Three Counties and Imperial College radio stations, a TV
interview with Bucks TV, and we have many live gigs and
festivals in the pipeline. Fingers crossed that 2011 will be an even bigger success than 2010 was.
Anything to add?
We hope you enjoy! Please do keep an eye on our sites and get in touch. We love to hear from our listeners and we will always reply to messages.
Follow your dreams. We did and it really is paying off.
Let's Go, the new EP from Alexandra Legouix and The Sunflowers, is released on 28 February 2011. Find out more at www.alexandralegouix.biz.

BUBBLE EYE interviews Alexandra Legouix
Who are you and where are you?
I’m Alexandra Legouix - singer/songwriter for Alexandra Legouix and the Sunflowers!!
I’m currently sitting in the green room at one of my many random jobs. I present part
time on SKY869 so that’s where I am this evening.
How are your tea / coffee making skills?
Amazing. Literally, I think I’m really good... at making tea in particular...
Can you be relied on to turn up on time?
Hmmm... debatable!! I’m RUBBISH at getting anywhere on time... I work on live TV so I
have to get there half an hour early... This is a good thing else I’d always miss the start
probably... Trouble is that even where I leave extra early something will happen that will
mean Ill end up being late...
What do you often eat for breakfast?
Rice crispies at the moment. I go through 3 monthly cycles for breakfast it seems. Last
cycle was Oatabix; before that porridge... I’m drawing to a close on the ricecrispies front
though actually... not sure what will be next...
Have you seen incidents which made you laugh out loud?
Regularly... I can’t think of any right now though.. but definitely yes... ill add it later if I
can think of a recent one...
What was the last book you read?
Ben Elton - Popcorn... I’m a bit late on the Ben Elton thang... Enjoyed it though...
What is your favourite piece of clothing?
Hmmm... I guess my corset would have to be up there... I have 4 corsets that I wear for
gigs... They are definitely the most flattering item of clothing... suck it all in ;-)
Which ancient place would you like to go?
I went to Pompeii and that was amazing so I’d like to see some more... The Ellora
Caves in India look really cool... and Machu Picchu I really want to go to...and I have yet
to go to the Taj Mahal.. it’s all there on the bucket list :-)
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play
the lead role as you?
Angelina Jolie. Without question.
Would you be the office gossip or the hard working type who likes to stay late
to get the job done?
What’s an office???
Who was the worse boss you had?
I haven’t had any that have been too bad to be honest... In fact I
think I’ve been quite lucky and always had ones that I can party
with.. Or at least have a real human conversation with...

The Sunflowers release single
January 10, 2011
BBC Berkshire favourite –
Alexandra Legouix & the Sunflowers are building on the success they had
in 2010 by releasing single Let’s Go on iTunes.
And they are aiming to release an album by the spring.
Alexandra was doing pretty well on her own and then she got together with a band of merry men to complete The Sunflowers line-up.
The single should have been ready now, but recording had to be postponed because Hill Valley Studio was cut off by the snow.
Recording is currently being rescheduled and they are now hoping to get the new single out later this month.
Alexandra and the band have picked up many new followers, including listeners
of Radio Neo (which broadcasts to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles via the internet) after the new track Balcony of Wonder was added to their JazzCity programme playlist.

…the presenter Alexandra is a professional presenter with over 1000 hours of live TV experience.
Her most notable job to date was earlier this year when she landed a 6 month
position presenting and interviewing for championship winning Formula One
Grand Prix racing team: McLaren. This was an incredible position to be but was
a result of years of hard work in the motor industry that finally paid off.
Naturally, as McLaren is such a prestigious company, and based at the incredible
McLaren Technology Centre, Woking it was imperative that their presenters be
as immaculate and as specialist as Ron Dennis’ creation so Alexandra went
through 6 weeks of highly specialist and
intense training to get up to McLaren
standards. She is now extremely proficient
and knowledgeable in areas that very, very
few know about including: F1 hydraulics,
gearboxes, the carbon fibre process, wind
tunnels, and so on as well as a knowledge of
F1 history spanning back to the early 50’s and
information on the McLaren F1 build process
that only the elite know about!
Alexandra’s job consisted of a 30 car
Boulevard Tour (2 hour tour of F1 cars dating
from Bruce McLaren’s 1954 winning car
through to the 2008 Hamilton Championship winning car); an in depth tour
through the entire of the MTC talking through the build of an F1 car; and an
interview with Jenson Button / Lewis Hamilton or any of the test drivers. This
truly was Alexandra’s dream job!
This is not the only motor related job Alexandra has had. She presented for
RMA Trackdays for years (Mark Webber was one of the instructors); has
presented and interviewed for the British Racing Drivers Club; as well as working
at the Motor Show and other smaller events’ A keen racer herself, Alexandra is
also one of the few women to have gained her National B Motor Racing License
which she gained after being taught by the one and only Ring Taxi driver –
Sabine Schmidt.
In 2007 she won a job working for
Redbull as their Formula una. This was a
modelling position which granted her VIP
entry to the 2007 F1 races across the
world. This was an unbelievable
competition which opened many doors.
Whilst there, Alexandra took hold of the
opportunities given to her. She
interviewed and met as many top F1
names as she could, including: Flavio
Briatore; Eddie Jordan; Scott Speed;
Heikki Kovalainen and it was here she
first met Jenson button.
To pay the bills, she is currently a regular presenter on live TV including Smart
live Casino SKY869 and has also worked for Gems TV SKY755.
She also has a number of live event presenting jobs under her belt including
presenting Vivacity Festival 2010 and 2011
(live music festival); Wokingham Food and
Drinks Festival
2010 and 2011
(live music,
arts, food,
drink); Miss
Great Britain
with Liz Fuller
(plus for LatinTV); Music interviews for Cohesive TV
'Whats up'; Melange Factor (London based music
competition)Broadway Fashion TV shows; RMA
TRackday events and live events for McLaren to name
a few.
She is a proficient interviewer and has some music interviews you can see on
youtube with the likes of FindaFiend, Palace of Justice, Asha J, DJ Fizzy.

…the actress
After her senior years at The Holt and her college years at Farnborough 6th Form
college, Alexandra went to the prestigious theatre school Redroofs. Since
graduating in 2002, Alexandra has been seen continually climbing the ladder of
success as a professional actress.
Her first professional job was performing at The Wilde Theatre in Aladdin as Jasmine.
In 2009 she toured London and the South East with her highly acclaimed one
woman show – The Courtesan – which she then took up to Edinburgh Fringe. The
show sold out every night and gained 5* reviews from The Scotsman.
Since then Alexandra has performed in a number of theatre shows including A
Midsummer Nights dream; Twelfth night; Girl Interrupted; Shakers; Cinderella to name
a very small few.
Not just a theatre actress, Alexandra has had some fantastic TV and Film roles to.
Most notably, last year, she landed a lead role in the feature Film: The Death of
Merlin (2012) starring alongside Nicholas Ball (Eastenders, Hazell, Footballer’s Wives,
Priscilla Queen of the Night)); James Simmons (Lion King, Hamlet, The Tempest,
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern); and Johanna Murdock (Holby City, Doctors, Dance
With Me). This has a cinema release set for 2012.
Additionally, Alexandra played lead roles in other
feature and short films including: Lifestyle, Dangerous
Minds, Vulcan Mistral, Starting from Scratch and so on.
Most recently Alexandra has just finished playing the
lead role in ‘Medea’. A
very gritty and
demanding lead role
she thoroughly enjoyed
playing.

…the radio presenter
Alexandra has just landed the very exciting position as the new Radio Presenter at
97.4M Marlow FM.
Here she will be interviewing new artists, launching new music and bands, and
discovering hidden treasures and so on.
She is also bahing the set up of Marlow FM Youtube channel which will feature
Alexandra as she follows various different artists on their journeys; interviews with
different bands; backstage at festivals and events; and will also cover the entire of
the Marlow FM New Talent Competition which Alexandra is in the process of setting
up and launching.
…the entrepreneur
Although primarily a singer & TV presenter (www.alexandralegouix.biz)
Alexandra Legouix has spent many years working in PR, Marketing and Events Management. Her events career took off when she landed the role of Marketing
and PR Executive for Innerplace Concierge and VIP Service. Here she: organized guest lists for all top exclusive clubs in London, Europe and New York; was the
main organiser of many VIP Events including: Boudoir PR Pre fashion Week, Hollywood TV Parties, La Dolce Vita Charity Ball (the closing F1 ball), The Cannonball Rally Ball, product launches, Pink Breast Cancer Charity functions,
the Gordon Ramsey dinner, Beyoncé – private concert - to name but a few; and also arranged sponsorship, celebrity bookings, and handled all marketing and
advertising (GQ, Vanity Fair, Tatler, OK! Xexec, Square Meal).
After this, at the young age of 24, she set up her own company – With Panache.
Although eventually seeing it as a multi-media company with big, long term
event ambitions for the future, Alexandra started With Panache Theatre
Academy at first. This was extremely successful and had a fantastic reputation,
however, as the only person in the company she was (and still is in fact!) in
charge of: advertising, accounts, VAT, Tax, design, distribution, hiring,
promotion, sponsorship, and so on and at such a young age, this was very tough
so this –combined with the nature of the arts industry - meant she did not make
enough profit to keep the school open. So she closed the academy. However,
not one who likes to be defeated, Alexandra set up With Panache Agency for kids
off the back of the school. Within one month, many of her clients were in Harry
Potter and many commercials and small TV parts. With Panache Agency–
although primarily an adults agency now – is still very much active and
continues to grow getting a better and better name within the industry.
In addition to her own company though, Alexandra did not stop there. In 2003,
Alex landed the role of Events Organizer for RMA Track days. Due to her skills
learnt at Innerplace, Alex quickly became involved in the Marketing and PR side
and helped organise track days at various locations in the UK & abroad
(Thruxton, Silverstone, Spa Belgium, Donnington, Oulton Park etc.). She was
also in charge of the coordination at the events, briefed drivers before track
opening and generally made sure days ran smoothly. She was also lucky
WWW.WITHPANACHE.CO.UK
enough, during the 4 years of working with RMA, to get behind the wheel herself
of some extremely fast cars (Ferrari, Porsche 911, Caterham, Elise etc.!) and in
2006 she completed the training for the National B Motor Racing License training
at Nurburgring with ring taxi driver and DMax presenter, Sabine Schmitz.
Her knowledge of the motor industry opened new doors and she worked with the
Redbull F1 events team during the 2007 GP season. During this time, she was
involved with various functions for the likes Alpine Stars, Mini Motos and of
course Eddie Jordan. Not to mention some incredible private parties, including
Dhani Harrisons F1 unveil at his fathers (George Harrisson!) little abode!
That same year she also worked as freelance PR/Marketing for Landrover;
Mapledurham 4x4 Show; Sternberg Clarke; and Nissan before landing the role of
Celebrity Marketing & Events Co-ordinator at Catalyst World Class – where she
provided celebrity speakers and entertainers for prestigious events across the
World. She stayed here working part time so she could continue with her
freelance work, until 2009. In 2010, Alexandra worked on many one off events
including: Vivacity Olympics Festival (Organiser/Sales/PR), Sandbanks Polo
(Sales/PR), Cartier Polo (Sales/PR), Prestige Polo (Organiser/Sales/PR), Universe
Parties at QSoho (Organiser/Sales/PR), and managed club nights at the top
London clubs: Boujis, Chloe, Merah, Punk, Luxx, Jalouse, Kitts to name a few.
She was then head hunted by LA Entertainments who she will be helping set up
a new concierge service to be launched late 2011.
