The International Monetary Fund is a special agency of the United Nations (UN) which was established by 29 states to regulate the monetary and credit relations between its members and assist them in deficits through short-and medium-term loans in foreign currency.

Ukraine became a real member of the International Monetary Fund after the signature of the IMF charter on 3 September 1992.

Cooperation with the IMF began in October 1994.

Over the years of independence Ukraine has repeatedly used the material and non-material help of the IMF, and in general has proved that it is a reliable partner.
