ALL AMERICAN LODGE 2003,04,08,09,10,11,12,13 BPO ELKS 2399 WAPITI WIND April 2015 EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE. I thank you for your confidence in electing me as your Exalted Rul- er. As we start another year of Elkdom, it is my goal to work with all of you to continue to present a lodge we are all proud of. I also want to take my hat off to our mem- bers, staff and volunteers who sup- ported our lodge during the past year. Okay, let’s get down to busi- ness… I would like to announce that with the resignation of Kevin Brown that the House Committee has made some changes in our social quarters management. It is the goal of the House Committee to provide for a pleasant dining and social experience to our members. To accomplish this the position of Club Manager has been divided into two positions – Banquet/Bar Manager and Executive Chef. Kathy Wright has been appointed “Banquet/Bar Manager” and will be overseeing the bar, dining area and banquet events and staff. Most of you already know Kathy as she has been a longtime employee and member of the lodge. Adam Sweetow has been appointed as “Executive Chef” and hails from the San Diego area. Adam will be overseeing the kitchen and staff and brings vast experience with his im- pressive resume. Look for some very exciting menu items to come our way. Please join me in congratulating and support- ing Kathy and Adam! During the coming lodge year, I will be focusing on two very important items: Volunteering and our Obligation as Elks. Volunteer! Volunteering is crucial to the success of our lodge. It does sadden me that with over 3.800 members and widows/widowers, on average less than one percent volunteer for lodge committees and functions. The Spaghetti Night Crew, Burger Crew and Bingo Crew are dangerously short of volunteers. One of my first actions is appointing Jim Travis as Activities Chairperson. It will be Jim’s responsibility to build and maintain a database of members that want to volun- teer for the lodge events, committees or become an Officer in the Lodge. This will assist our Committee Chairpersons when they are in need of volunteers. Contact information for the Activities Chairperson will be posted monthly in the Wapiti Wind. Any amount of time volunteering is greatly appreciat- ed. Our Obligation! I will save a small portion of my monthly newsletter column to remind all members of our obligation as Elks. As time runs on we sometimes forget our obligation to ourselves and each other. The reminders will be short with excerpts from our obligation or from one of the stations in the lodge. It is my hope these reminders will stimulate a more productive and harmonious lodge. From the station of the Lecturing Knight: As we have opportunity, let us do good unto others, for we pass this way but once. We cannot retrace our steps nor call back the days that are gone; but the passing moment is ours long enough to grasp the hand in friendship, to lighten each other’s burdens, to bring rest to the weary, and to comfort those who mourn. EXALTED RULER’S MESSAGE.

I thank you for your confidence in electing me as your Exalted Rul-er. As we start another year of Elkdom, it is my goal to work with all of you to continue to present a lodge we are all proud of. I also want to take my hat off to our mem-bers, staff and volunteers who sup-ported our lodge during the past year. Okay, let’s get down to busi-ness…

I would like to announce that with the resignation of Kevin Brown that the House Committee

has made some changes in our social quarters management.

Adam will be overseeing the kitchen and staff and brings vast experience with his im-pressive resume. Look for some very exciting menu items to come our way. Please join me in congratulating and support-ing Kathy and Adam!

It will be Jim’s responsibility to build and maintain a database of members that want to volun-teer for the lodge events, committees or become an Officer in the Lodge. This will assist our Committee Chairpersons when they are in need of volunteers. Contact information for the Activities Chairperson will be posted monthly in the Wapiti Wind. Any amount of time volunteering is greatly appreciat-ed.

From the station of the Lecturing Knight: “As we have opportunity, let us do good unto others, for we pass this way but once. We cannot retrace our steps nor call back the days that are gone; but the passing moment is ours long enough to grasp the hand in friendship, to lighten each other’s burdens, to bring rest to the weary, and to comfort those who mourn. This is Brotherly Love.”

I look forward to working with all of you and predict that the coming year will be very exciting for everyone!

Another Elkette year has come and gone and I must say it was a whirlwind year, especially since October. Our many events have been a great suc-cess and participation in Family picnics and PER horse races have kept us very busy. I would be remiss in not acknowl-edging Kim Semmens and Rosalie Smith and all the volunteers for the success of

our recent “Crazy Auction” in March. Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet, so to speak, I hope we can continue with that kind of success as I embark on my 2nd year as Elkette President along with the Executive Board of V.P. Eva Fox, 2nd V.P. Kay

Wdowiak, Treasurer Lisa Burchard, and Secretary Maridee Dunkirk. I know they are as anxious as I am to get started. I want to thank all Elkettes and Elks who have contin-ually volunteered to make all our events so successful. You are deeply appreciated. I wish I could list you all. A special Thank You and Congratulations to Betty Kennedy, Elkette of the Year, Lynn Hall, Outstanding Elkette, and our Honorary Elkette, Denny Dunkirk. Respectfully submitted, Paulette Nainteau, Elkette President Paulette Nainteau, President (928)680-1654

April Elks Yacht Club News

Wow! The Yacht Club just had their Lobster Luau and it was a fabulous event! Everyone arrived in fashionable Hawaiian attire. We feasted on lobster tails, shrimp, clam chowder, cole slaw and Hawaiian rolls. There was a Mai Tai bar fundraiser for the bar-

becue which was a big hit. We raised over $500! Kevin Jaxson and Midnight Sun played and we were dancing fools. During one of the breaks there was a Hula and Hula hoop “demo”. The weather cooperated and the rodeo grounds were all decorat-ed for the event. Thanks to Glenn and Julie Talbert for the fine job organizing, Debbie and Rod Herd for decorating, and to all the other wonderful volun-teers. You are very much appreciated! By the time you are reading this there is a new Commodore, Julie Talbert. She is eagerly awaiting the task of running our great club. Opening Day Boat Parade will take place in the Channel on Sun-day, April 2nd at Cabana 5. Full details will be emailed to you. Please decorate you boats and join the fun! Lisa Stilson

VAGABONDS NEWS April 1 is the beginning of our new year with a new slate of officers. We look forward to another successful and fun year with monthly RV trips. Our last trip was to the Avi with 31 rigs. Friday night we had dinner at the Bullhead Elks and Sat-urday night we had grills set up at the campground

for dinner and everyone brought a side dish. Fun was had by all. The date of the Avi cam-pout was scheduled several months ago. As a result, it conflicted with the Lodge of Sorrow for one of our very

loved members, Sandy MacNevin. In her honor we did the 11th Hour Toast on Saturday, which was the day of the service for her. She will be greatly missed. Before we go dark in June, July and August we have two trips planned. The next one is our Tri-State rally in Anthony, Texas. Dates for that are April 19th through the 22nd. The one in May is Wickenburg and those dates are May 18th through the 20th. Our trips are always a lot of fun and an opportunity to get to know new members. We’re always looking for new places to visit so if you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to let us know. Welcome to our new members William and Lillian Meehan. We look forward to getting to know you. If you are interested in joining our club, you can contact the office, or just come to a meeting. Our meetings are always the second Wednesday of the month, except June, July and August, when we go dark. Even though we don’t have formal meetings during those three months, we meet for lunch at the Lodge at noon, so feel free to join us. Our next meeting is April 11th at 1:00. Get there early if you want to have lunch and don’t forget to buy your Queen of Hearts tickets. The pot continues to build each month. Remember BPOE – Best People on Earth. Marti Johnson, Secretary

Golf Club News: Greetings golfers,

Our new club champion, Steve Oswensby, was crowned from the “A” flight this year. Nice work Steve. The “B” flight champion was Sonny Wisniewski good playing Sonny. Our March away tournament was held Blythe on March 20th. The next away

trip will be in Tucson, for a two day golf outing. Check the board for the sign up sheet. The weather should be perfect so plan to come and enjoy. There is still a hole in one fund available to any club member to enter. How lucky do you feel? Larry Quackenboss was lucky Feb. 28th, with an ace on hole #2 at the Refuge golf course, which had a tough pin position that day. Great shot, Larry. Just come and see me with your entry fee to enter. Make sure to check the board for upcoming events. All signup sheets, as always, will be located on the club board at the lodge or every Tuesday at the Refuge Golf Course. See you guys at the golf course. Jerry Savilla, golf club president.

Elks National Foundation (ENF) Our thanks all members, who upon re-newing their dues notice, made a donation to the Elks National Foundation. The many supports, provided by the Foundation have been listed numerous times before, but it is never redundant to repeat the contributions made by this charitable wing of the Elks. The return to the Lodge is large and is nev-er taken from the ENF general fund, only the accumulated interest. Scholarship grants only exceed those of the Federal Government. Drug awareness programs and other youth activities such as the States Major projects are large and contin-ue. I have a special thanks for Mike Cas-
