Monsoon Watch
♦ The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, entire Goa, some parts of south Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, East Madhya Pradesh, southeast Uttar Pradesh, some more parts of Vidarbha, Bihar and remaining parts of North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
♦ The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Lat. 17.0°N/ Long. 60.0°E, Lat. 17.0°N/ Long.70.0°E, Harnai, Sholapur, Nanded, Yeotmal, Chhindwara, Sidhi, Patna and Raxaul.
♦ Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, some more parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh and some parts of West Madhya Pradesh during next 48 hours.

♦ Rainfall: (From 0830 to 1730 hours IST of today): Rain/ thundershower occurred at most places over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep; at many places over Odisha; at a few places over East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Andhra Pradesh; at isolated places over interior Karnataka, West Bengal & Sikkim, Telangana, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya. ♦ On 19062016: Minimum temperature are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Jammu & Kashmir; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at many places over Rayalaseema; at a few places over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh. They are appreciably below normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Tamilnadu; below normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Telangana & Rayalaseema; at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Vidarbha and near normal over rest of the country.
♦ On 19062016: Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1 to 5.0°C) at many places over West Rajasthan; at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir; above normal (1.6 to 3.0°C) at a few places over south Gujarat; at isolated places over East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Kerala & south Assam. Meteorological Analysis (Based on 1730 hours IST)
♦ The eastwest shear zone at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along lat 10.0°N persists.
♦ The trough at mean sea level from north Rajasthan to westcentral Bay of Bengal across Madhya Pradesh, south Chhattisgarh & Odisha extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in midtropospheric westerlies roughly along Longitude 72.0°E and north of Latitude 32.0°N persists.
♦ The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha & Telengana extending upto 4.5 km above mean sea level persists and tilting southwards with height.
♦ The feeble offshore trough at mean sea level from Coastal Karnataka to Kerala coast persists.
