• Each day students will have the opportunity to earn recognition and have the chance to reflect on their personal conduct based on Respectful, Responsible, and Safe behaviors.

• We will use a mix of Positive Behavior Intervention System practices and Responsive Classroom practices. This will help students become more accountable for their own behaviors as they recognize the positive and negative impacts their choices have on their classroom community and themselves.

• Students will track their own behaviors throughout each day, and will have the opportunity to fill a chart based on positive behaviors. This can earn them little perks in the classroom. Some favorites from last year: Desk Swap, Steal a Job, Teacher Chair

• If multiple warnings are given throughout the day, a Behavior Notice will be sent home. Two in a week= a detention.

• While we will decide upon our policies and rules together, we will start the year by trying to recognize the need for fairness, compassion, patience, and teamwork/community-mindedness in our classroom. Right away we will strive to recognize the good in each other every day. My hope is that within that framework of mutual respect and support, everyone will feel secure taking the plunge into new and challenging material in a way that will allow for ultimate understanding and success. Hooray!
