Plant Name Jacaranda Bonsai Blue
Entrant Suttons Consumer Products Ltd
Description
After 10 years of breeding and selecting a unique compact form of the enviable Jacoranda tree has been produced, still with large glorious light
blue tubular flowers and stunning green, fern like foliage like the great
specimens we see on holiday. Instead of the usual 20m height and 10-15
years to flower for the traditional tree, this new, unique form, not yet seen in Europe, will only reach 1.2-1.5m high, with a rounded shape and flowers
from a young age during early summer, resulting in the only compact
form that flowers as a young plant. As it matures, it also often repeat flowers again late summer. It’s a frost tender patio shrub, therefore will
need protection in winter, especially while young in order to thrive in
future years. Heat and drought tolerant, it’s an excellent choice for a patio
plant, so it can be brought in for the winter.
Special features which
aid growing
This unique new form will now make it possible to supply a plant that will
not only fit all gardens or balconies, but also flower at a young age and
even be able to be supplied into retail as a budded or flowering plant
which we don’t believe has been possible before and due to the fact it often re-blooms in the same year, allows a couple of periods of despatch
for the ever increasing area in popularity of patio gardening
Special features which
benefit the consumer
Travellers for years have wanted to grow the exotic looking Jacoranda
trees they see when away, but due to their shear size, frost tenderness and time to flower it has been difficult to achieve. Now with this new
compact form that flowers from a young age and often repeat flowers
again in the summer, all obstacles have been removed. Its dwarf and
compact, therefore can be brought in for winter for protection. For the
rest of the spring/summer, lovely fern like foliage will impress. Great for
container gardening and easy to grow with just a little pruning for shape after flowering if required

Plant Name Limonium Dazzle Rocks
Entrant Suttons Consumer Products Ltd
Description
This brand new variety is the only hardy and compact form of Limonium available in the world. Dazzle Rocks creates long-lasting, 30-40cm high
pillows of flowers in ever-popular bright blue shades from June-
September above rosettes of mid green leaves which hug the ground. The flowers are long lasting and look great in a container, the open border
andalso fresh in the vase or can also be dried for interest and colour in the
winter months. Peter van Stejn specialises in finding and breeding plants that will dazzle
both in the garden and as cut flowers. Having collected Limonium
gmellinie seed from the wild in Hungary where they exhibit wide
variations in the number and height of flower stems, Peter spent ten years
of selective crossing to develop this compact plant with many more flower
stems than usual. Unusual in being both drought resistant and fully hardy.
