All Saint’s Sunday, November 4, 2012 8:30 am & 11:00 am PRELUDE “Trumpet Tune in D” by David Johnson WELCOME POCKET VERSE “So if I, the Master and Teacher, have washed your feet, you must now wash each other’s feet. I’ve laid down a pattern for you. What I’ve done, you do. I’m only pointing out the obvious” John 13:14-15 SONGS OF PRAISE / LIGHTING OF CANDLES *HYMN “How Great is Our God” *OPENING PRAYER HYMN “What Brings Us Together” Choir CELEBRATION OF REMEMBRANCE MEMORIAL PRAYER (People’s response in bold) Everloving God, This day revives in us memories of loved ones who are no more physically with us. What happiness we shared when they walked among us. What joy, when, loving and being loved, we lived our lives together. Their memory is a blessing forever. Months or years may have passed, and still we feel near to them. Our hearts yearn for them. Though the bitter grief may have softened, a duller pain abides; for the place where once they stood is empty now. The links of life are broken, but the links of love and longing cannot break. Their souls are bound up in ours forever. We see them now with the eye of memory, their faults forgiven, and their virtues grown larger. So does goodness live and weakness fade from sight. We remember them with gratitude and bless their names. Their memory is a blessing forever. And we remember as well the members, who but yesterday were part of our congregation and community. To all who cared for us and labored for all people, we pay tribute. May we prove worthy of carrying on the tradition of our faith. For now the task is ours. Their souls are bound up in ours forever. We give you thanks that they now live and reign with you. As a great crowd of witnesses, they surround us with their blessings, and offer you hymns of praise and thanksgiving. They are alive forevermore. Amen. PUMPKIN PATCHDuring the week of October 22-26, our

church certainly had an autumnal look. Pump-kins were everywhere! The third annual Pump-kin Patch was underway and was a huge suc-cess.

“I think we are getting bigger and better each year,” said Children’s Director Pam Green-burg. “I send an invitation and signup sheet out to all the grade levels at the elementary school in early September and begin accept-ing reservations on October 1st on a first come first served basis. This year all elementary grade levels except 3rd grade made reservations and attended. We also hosted the CDC (Special Needs) class from the intermediate school. Between Monday the 22nd and Friday the 26th, we had approximately 600 children visit our patch. The kids arrive on the school bus and unload in the patch set up next to the FLC Rosemary Jennings Hall (gym). I welcome them and then have the teachers divide into 4 groups. Each group is then sent to one of the patch stations. These include pumpkin pick-ing and picture taking, hayride, pumpkin games and story time. The first three stations are pretty self-explanatory but included in story time is an opportunity for the children to make their own fall trail mix that they get to eat while listening to the story of the Pumpkin Par-able and other pumpkin stories and poems. The kids of all ages have a great time and the teachers’ comments are very positive and appreciative to an activity that is both fun and educational.

We had 37 volunteers this year made up of members of our congregation, community and Lowes distribution employees.

I have already been identified several times as the Pumpkin Lady or ‘I know you from the Pumpkin Patch,’ but it makes me smile to know kids will have memories from our church’s efforts that will last a life time.”

UMCOR RESPONdS TO HURRICANE SANdY

UMCOR is hard at work helping our neigh-bors on the East Coast recover from the devastat-ing effects from Hurricane Sandy. UMCOR al-ways works to enable those affected by disasters by taking responsibility for relief and recovery work.

You can help support the UMCOR response to emergency victims with your prayers and your financial donations. Your check to FUMC should include a note on the memo line - SANDY. We will forward that money to the relief effort.

Undoubtedly, Miss Pam makes a lot of kids smile, too. THANK YOU for sharing your special talents with our church and community! THANK YOU, congregation for supporting our young people!

All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.

Isaiah 54:13
