Parish Response to Coronavirus, Influenza, etc.

As you know, in an attempt to avoid exposure to the

various viruses of current concern, we have

temporarily suspended the distribution of the Precious

Blood from the shared Cup. Based on medical advice,

we are further requesting that folks also suspend

holding hands during the “Our Father” and refrain

from shaking hands – or other physical contact – at

the Sign of Peace. We have also emptied the Holy

Water Fonts as another precaution. Traditionally, we

were told to use ‘common sense’ which advised that if

you’re not feeling well, avoid contact with others.

More recently, we have learned that a person can be

contagious 2 or 3 days before they develop

symptoms. With a great number of children and

seniors in our Parish – we are exercising and

recommending an abundance of caution. Thank you

for your understanding and cooperation!

In facing the Corona Virus Pandemic, our Bishop

Lucia has invited us to join in praying this Novena

Prayer for 9 days:

O Mary, full of grace, Patroness of this nation and

Mother of the Church, in this time of world-wide need

we seek your intercession for the human family before

your Son’s throne of grace and mercy. We ask for

strength in adversity, health in illness and comfort in

sorrow. Help us, O Blessed Mother, to be filled with

confidence and trust in the tender compassion of our

God. Let us not be afraid, imitating our own Saint

Marianne Cope, who entrusted her life and ministry

among the outcasts of society into the care of our

Divine Physician. Continue to watch over all who are

sick as well as those who care for them and give

wisdom to all who are seeking a cure and managing

public health policy. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18: 6:30pm: Taizé

Prayer Service – All Saints Church

GREETERS’ MINISTRY

Page 3: ALL SAINTS CHURCH · Caring for Our Common Home: “Our insistence that each human being is an image of God should not make us overlook the fact that each creature has its own purpose.

If you have ever felt welcomed as you come into

church then you know the importance of our Greeters’

Ministry. We always say – “first impressions count” –

well, grace builds on that saying as well. Hesitant people,

those who may have been away for a long time, find God’s

loving grace and welcome in the personal smile of a

Greeter as a bulletin is handed out. It’s only a simple

gesture and takes 15 minutes of a minister’s time, but only

God knows the impact on the heart of that person receiving

the greeting. If you have 15 minutes for God – won’t you

please consider this ministry?

If you would like to participate in this ministry, just

email Kathleen Owens at [email protected] and

tell me which Mass you usually attend. If you are a

minister in another Liturgical Ministry, I will try to

coordinate your schedules to coincide. Families are

wonderful at this ministry and what a great way to begin

involving children in the feeling that they are part of our

All Saints Parish Ministry!

The PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING

scheduled for Wednesday, the 18th

is cancelled, as

Sub-committees continue work on which they will

report at our next meeting.

Confirmation Class: Next Sunday, March 22, All

Saints will host the Confirmation students from

Cathedral Parish for a panel presentation on

immigration. We will meet in the Wisdom Room

instead of the Ignatius Room. The class will meet at

the usual time: 10:15– 11:20am.

We are forming our Triduum/Easter Choir. Singers

and musicians are invited and encouraged to join in

the powerful music ministry that enlivens and

enriches our Holy Week journey. A sign-up sheet is

in the back of church. Rehearsals are scheduled for

Wednesdays at 7pm on March 18, 25; April 1 & 8,

with a final rehearsal at 10am on Sat. April 11.

Caring for Our Common Home:

“Our insistence that each human being

is an image of God should not make us

overlook the fact that each creature has

its own purpose. None is superfluous.

The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his

boundless affection for us. Soil, water, mountains:

everything is, as it were, a caress of God.” Pope

Francis , Laudato Si, Paragraph 84.

LENT–PENTECOST Parish-wide book study

& faith sharing: Our group sharing continues during this

week.

For the 3rd week of Lent, beginning Sunday, March

15, we are discussing Ch. 3 of Wallis’ book, Christ in

Crisis, pp. 44-86. If you don’t have time to read all of

it, these pages are especially recommended: pp. 45-

50, 60-72, 81-86.

For the 4th

week of Lent, beginning Sunday, March

22, we will study Ch. 4 of Christ in Crisis. If you

don’t have time to read all of it, these pages are

especially recommended: pp. pp. 45-50, pp. 60-72,

pp. 81-86.

There is an online forum for anyone who would

like to plug in at any time, with comments,

questions, etc. If you wish to join, please send an

email to Casey Koons with your contact

information: [email protected] Casey will

send you the link to join the conversation. Any other questions? call or text Mary Jureller at

White Ribbon Walk

Stand with Vera House to prevent and end domestic

& sexual violence! In light of the COVID-19

pandemic and recommendations from CDC, we have

decided to cancel our White Ribbon Campaign Walk

scheduled for Friday, March 20th. The safety of our

walk participants is of the utmost importance & we

believe this is the best course of action to take.

So this year, we're making the Walk virtual! Get

involved by making a page to help us raise precious

funds that allow Vera House to continue to go above

and beyond for our clients and community. Instead of

potentially spreading illness, let’s continue to spread

awareness & ‘'walk' across the inter-web spreading

the message that there is #NoExcuseForAbuse!

All proceeds from the White Ribbon Campaign Walk

are directed to Vera House programs & services. For

more information about Vera House & the White

Ribbon Campaign & to get involved www.verahouse.org/event-calendar/ev-detail/25th-
