Mini RadaScan accurately measures the range and bearing of one or more intelligent microwave targets called responders, allowing for the calculation of vessel position and heading. The Mini RadaScan Sensor’s rotating antennatransmits a beam of radio energy and detects thereturned signal. Unlike conventional radar, MiniRadaScan ignores the ‘clutter’ typically reflected byan off-shore platform, and only ‘sees’ the returns fromresponders
Each responder adds its own unique ID to thereturned signal, enabling the sensor to distinguishbetween multiple responders. The sensor’scontinuous 360˚ rotational scan maintains target-lock
during vesselturns, withoutthe need toreset thesensor. Thisenables MiniRadaScan tobe used‘hands free’,even duringthe mostcritical part ofa manoeuvre.
For addedredundancyand preciseheading
control, the Mini RadaScan sensor can lock onto tworesponders simultaneously. Every responder can beused simultaneously by any number of MiniRadaScan equipped vessels.
