FLATPLAN ;

PROMOTIONAL

LEAFLET

We generated the flat plan from ideas

we wished to include in our video. We

drew the image of four of us standing as

this emphasised the notion to looking in

our video, highlighting all body parts.

However a variety of shots were taken

in plenty of poses enabling us to

compare each pose and shot.

As a group we organised what we were

going to wear and included this in the

flat plan as all of our garments were

different contributing to the portrayal of

a clubbing scene.

EXAMPLES AND

INSPIRATION

Above are some pictures that we

used to analyse poses, which we could mirror and

develop for our poster. We only looked at group images to examine

the ways that each position works around and compliments each other.

Page 4: All together process

The shots above show two of the

images that we eliminated although

the poses were good and helped to

highlight our attire. The image above

was not a long shot which we had

hoped for, especially because of the

notion to looking and the one to the left

shows one member of the group not

prepared for the shot.

Page 5: All together process

The two to the left were

additionally good shots but the first

image again shows one of us

unprepared for the photograph,

nevertheless the poses in both are

good. The photo on the bottom

exhibits a good pose and was a

possible picture that could be used

but preferably we wanted all

members standing, drawing

attention to our legs as well as

other body parts that are known as

feminine assets. It soon became

apparent that the only way to get

the image we wanted was to

construct it ourselves, which we

done by cutting individuals out of

pictures where they presented

poses that reflected our flat plans

and out them together.

Page 6: All together process

To find fonts similar to those used on the flat plan we searched through font

websites such as ‘dafont.com’ and ‘font 101’

ABODE was found for the

name if the group and has

curved letters reinforcing

femininity as well as it’s

reflection of dance music itself

as it is about letting go and

feeling the rhythm.

CAC PINAFORE was utilised

for the title of the single being

advertised: Your love. As a group we

thought this was the best as we

thought it resembled flirtatious writing

from a diary or letter and so stresses

the element of love and thoughts.

Page 7: All together process

As you can see there is a sketch of

lips present on the flat plan

attached to the name of the

group, which we wanted to keep.

Once more we used

font websites to find

this and found a

range on

‘dafont.com’ under

the name of ‘KR

Lippy’. We wanted to

keep this as a logo

as it emphasises the

feminine asset. We

opted for the 9th kiss

across the line at the

top as it looked more

realistic.

Page 8: All together process

As you can see the green screen that we had used was reflected

and attached to plenty of shots when we attempted to cut them

out and so took extra precautions to erase and mend these to

present our magazine promotion professionally.

Page 9: All together process

We continued to do this zooming in on every image to ensure the best quality of each photo regardless of what image we eventually decided to use.

Page 10: All together process

Here you can

see the clone

tool being

applied to the

females dress in

the middle,

which involves

placing or

adding

something from

one part of an

image to the

other, covering

any of the back

drop that was

reflected upon

clothing and

replacing

anything that

was accidentally

cut out.

Page 11: All together process

Here are is a sample of the images that are a

lot smoother and professionally cut out due to

processes used on Photoshop such as

cloning, magic wand and magnetic lasso. As

you can see we cut out many pictures

individually but also as a group so we ended up

with a wide range of images to choose from.

Page 12: All together process

Below is the gradual assembly of one group image using individual shots. On the photo shoot we

varied the lights and angles that leaves us with the contrast of lighting on a few of the

pictures, so knew that we may be faced with editing certain images and overcome this problem

with adjustments of brightness, contrast, saturation and hue in order to make the images that we

put together blend in.

Page 13: All together process

Below are two of the final three pictures that we were contemplating on using.

The lighting on each individual in the same image appears the same due to our

adjustments, however we opted to use another that approximated our flat plan.

Page 14: All together process

The picture present is the image we

decided to use on our poster as it

definitely reflects the image displayed

on our flat plan, plus emphasises

femininity as the assets of the legs

are exhibited, as well as the female

figure with all members of the group

in a unique pose. This symbolises the

notion to looking present in the video,

enticing reader/audience to view or

buy the single, which is the primary

aim for the poster. All four are making

intense eye contact with the

audience/reader that we thought was

necessary considering the posters

intention is to sell the single to the

audience. This makes them take

interest and acts as an attraction.

Page 15: All together process

When inserting and constructing the

poster on In design using the same

image it came to our attention that the

quality of the picture did not appear to

its highest standard. Although we were

willing to use this image and work with

what we had, we continued to research

ways to improve this and settled on

using the effect called ‘Poster Edges’.

The reasons for this effect is because it

makes the image seem as if it is

artistically artificial and has been

created, portraying ourselves in the

way others of the opposites sex look

upon females and as if the image has

been created according to their

pleasures and stereotypes. This effect

also sharpens certain parts of the

image and places a border around

each individual bringing the figure to

light.

Page 16: All together process

We were unsure of a

background to apply

to the poster and so

each created one with

its own aspect. The

circular background to

the right represents

the narrative of the

video and the fact that

she keeps on going

round in circles as

when she thinks she

is over her previous

relationship and has

moved on, she

manages to end up in

the same predicament

that she started in.

The heart designed

background (far left)

illustrates the aspect

of love and passion

within the song and

the video.

Page 17: All together process

Another proposed background involved the names of the group placed as a background

diagonally across the page in a few different colours. This inevitably informs the reader

of the name of the group and gives the correct impression that the video and narrative is

mainly from her point of view and the situation involved is around all the time.

Page 18: All together process

The fourth designed background consisted of the image being outlined by plenty of

colours from only two colours (bottom left) to a lot (on the right) and eventually to a full

page. This particular background filler additionally outlined the figure and makes the

poster eye-catching.

Page 19: All together process

This background

was created by

highlighting the

outline of the

females, then

, edit; stroke. This

causes the stroke

box to appear

allowing

alterations of the

colour, width and

position of the

stroke. We

placed the stroke

on the outside of

the figure and

continuously

changed the

colour of each

stroke, then

repeated the order

of the colours

several times

while keeping the

width the same as

you can see to the

left.

Page 20: All together process

The backgrounds

created, all have

certain colours and

so, we filled a lot of

the text with different

colours, ensuring that

we had a wide range

to choose from for

them to stand out on

the poster and attract

readers, fulfilling its

purpose.

Page 21: All together process

Below is the development of two of the four backgrounds that we chose to continue constructing.

We eliminated the others as although they are although they were colourful and especially eye-

catching as the poster should be, they lacked a particular vibe that the ones below occupy and

additionally portray a club scene, reflecting the genre and narrative of the video.

Page 22: All together process

To build upon the backgrounds further we utilised effects to contribute to the professionalism of the poster.

Below is the progression of one of the backgrounds by placing the same effects upon each diagonal name

on the page, to make them stand out further. The drop shadow, outer glow and bevel and emboss effects

were usefully applied, and produced the effect we wanted to generate after adjusting the mode and

opacity ensuring that the effects compliment one another.

Page 23: All together process

We decided to use this poster for the

following reasons:

The text behind the main image applied

as a background not only to inform the

audience of the name of the artist but

adds a colourful background, creating an

energetic atmosphere similar to that of a

club where this type of music is played.

The poster also fulfils its purpose of

attracting its audience by its colours,

additional effects on the text and eye

contact of the four females.

The ‘clubbing scene’ is also portrayed

through the attire worn by the females

showing that they are going out.

The notion of looking is reinforced within

the poster by the logo of the lips and the

girls legs that have nothing covering

them so attention can easily be caught.
