All you need to know about Focus Pocus
What is Focus Pocus?
• A fun game designed to provide practice at important skills such as attention, relaxation, impulse-control, and memory
• You train to develop your “powers” via 12 engaging mini-games
What was it designed to do?
• Help improve attention, impulse-control, and memory
• As shown, learning outcomes depend on your readiness to learn
• Focus Pocus trains these important readiness factors
Who can benefit from it?
1. Children with AD/HD
Who show problems with inattention, impulsivity and
hyperactivity
2. Other children
Who show minor problems with attention, memory, and/or impulse-
control
How does it help?
• Research has shown that behaviour can be improved by using techniques to enhance state and cognitive factors
Has research been conducted?
• Three published studies have shown behavioural improvements for children with AD/HD after using Focus Pocus
• Three more randomised control trials are underway currently
What types of exercises are used?
Cognitive training
• Working memory• Impulse-control
With passive attention monitoring
Neurofeedback training
• Attention• Relaxation• “Zen”
What is cognitive training?
Mindwave records
attention level and sends to the game via
Bluetooth
Focus Pocus games
exercise working
memory and impulse-control
Child learns an
awareness of their own
attention and relaxation levels and
with practice learns how to control them
Child learns to increase memory
capacity, and improve
impulse-control, in the context of high attention
levels
What is neurofeedback?
Mindwave records brain activity and sends to the
game via Bluetooth
Focus Pocus gives
feedback on brain activity in a fun way
Child learns an awareness of
their own attention and
relaxation levels
With practice, they learn how to control them
The training is fun!
Can parents monitor progress?
• Yes, with the FocusIn application
• Free daily training reports on performance
• Free end-of-training comprehensive report
What happens after training?
• The user moves to the Apply phase
