Established in 1948, Maharashtra Cosmopolitan
Education Society is one of the oldest and most
reputed educational societies of India. The society
runs 30 institutes from its ultra modern campus
located in the heart of Pune Camp in Maharashtra.
The Institutes, Schools and Colleges run by the society
offer Primary Education, Secondary Education, Under
graduate and post-graduate courses in various
domains such as Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy,
Hotel Management, Law, Architecture, Information
Technology, Management, etc. The Institutes, Schools
and Colleges run by the Society are fully recognized by
the Govt. of India and are affiliated to the University
of Pune and other such affiliating bodies. More than

existence since 1998. The institute offers 2-years
fulltime MBA and 3 years full time MCA courses,
affiliated to the University of Pune and approved by
A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi. The institute is located in an ultra

The AIMS research centre is affiliated to the University of Pune and offers a Doctoral Programme in the areas of
business management including Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, systems (IT), and International Business

We attach a great importance to ethical behavior and moral living. Our campus is strictly a no smoking zone. Use of

Class Rooms : All possible care has been taken while
designing our classrooms so that our students get effective
learning from our teachers and facilitate participative
learning. Our classrooms are well ventilated, spacious,
equipped with LCD projectors along with audio system
with proper arrangements of Laptop and power supply.
Campus Wi-Fi : Availability of an ultra modern Notebook
with Wi-Fi internet access and Comprehensive e-learning
environment, provided with connected servers, enables
all the students and faculty members to be connected with
each other which is essential for effective learning.
Hostel : We provide separate boys and girls hostel facilities

Workshop on Career Success – Allana Institute of Management
Sciences organized a two day workshop on Career Success for MCA
students on 12th and 13th of July 2010. The resource persons, Mr.
Ranganathan and Ms. Malati (Corporate Trainers for SYMINDIA,
Bangalore) spoke on how to plan and work hard for achieving
success and making long term and short term goals, etc. Prof. R.
Ganesan, Director, AIMS delivered an inspirational speech to the
participants to understand the value of life and excel in life.

Workshop on “Cluster Computing” – The workshop on “Creating High Computing facilities using clusters and their
research avenues” was organized at Allana Institute of Management Sciences, Pune on 31st July 2010 in collaboration
with Computer Society of India, Pune Chapter. During the one day workshop lectures were delivered by Prof.
Rajashree Jain and Dr. U. S. Acharya the Treasurer of CSI from computer society of India and a live demo on “Increasing
computational power : Parallel computing” by the research fellows. The students and the faculty members of AIMS
were part of this workshop.
Guest Lecture on “Effective Covering Letter and Resume Writing” –
A guest lecture was organized on 12th August, 2010. Ms. Farzana
Contractor having 13 years of corporate experience and a Black Belt
in Six Sigma deliberated on “Effective Covering Letter to the resume
and Resume Writing. She explained the do's and don'ts of good
resume writing.

MCA MCM Induction Programe
Induction Programme for MCA – The induction
programme was organized for MCA First year students on
16th to 18th August, 2010. Dr. Tavvare spoke on effective
use of mind and how to release stress.
Director's Address – On 21st August, 2010, the students enjoyed the games conducted by their seniors. They also
showed their own talent. Later on Director Prof. R. Ganesan addressed the gathering.
Induction Program for MBA – The induction Program for first year MBA students (academic year 2010-2011) was
organized on 26th August, 2010 to 31st August, 2010. The program was inaugurated by Ms. Meenal, Programming Head -
Radio One.
Teacher's Day Celebration – On 4th September, 2010 Teacher's
Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The students
organized this function with floral welcome for all faculty. The
students also entertained the faculty members by participating
in variety entertainment programs.

Pre Placement Training – AIMS aim at sharpening the skills of the students for success in placement tests, interviews,
group discussions, exposure to real world expections, jargons used, resume building, etc. A 7-day packaged program
delivered by industry experts and participating senior managers was conducted from 7th to 12th March 2011.
IBM Rational Suite Training Workshop – On 7th , 8th & 9th March 2011, a training workshop was organized on IBM

Happenings 2011 – Happenings 2011 was organized from 21st to
27th February 2011. 87 colleges in and around Pune participated in 47
events. A prize distribution ceremony was conducted on 27th
February 2011. RJ Tia, MJ of 'Radio One' and Mr. P. A. Inamdar were
the chief guests for the grand finale held at Alpa Bachat Bhavan
NCDM 2011 – A National Conference on Data Mining was organized

NOTIFICATION Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.No. Sankirna 10981 (1 33198) JUNI-3. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the Maharshtra Prohibition of Ragging act, 1999 (Mah. XXXIII of 1999), the Government of Maharashtra hereby appoints the 1 day of June 1999 to be the date on which the said Act shall come into force. XXXIII of 1999), is hereby published under the authority of the Governor.

An Act to prohibit ragging in educational institutions in the State of Maharashtra.WHEREAS it is expedient to-enact a special law to prohibit ragging in educational institutions in the State of Maharashtra. It is hereby enacted in the Fiftieth Year of the Republic of India as follows :
(1) State title and commencement (a) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999.(b) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
(2) Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires (a) "educational institution" means and includes a college, or other institution by whatever name called, carrying on the activity or imparting education therein
(either exclusively or among other activities); and includes an orphanage or a boarding home or hostel or a tutorial institution or any other premises attached thereto;
(b) "head of the educational institution" means the Vice-Chancellor of the University, dean of Medical Faculty, Director of the Institution or the Principal, headmaster or the person responsible for the management of the educational institution;
(c) "ragging means display of disorderly conduct, doing of any act which causes or is likely cause physical, psyological harm or raise apprehension or fear or shame or embarrassment to a student any educational institution and includes(i) teasing, abusing, threatening or playing practical jokes, or causing hurt to, such student; or (ii) asking a student to do any or perform something which such student will not, in the ordinary course, willingly, do.
(3) Prohibition of ragging : Ragging within or outside of any educational institution is prohibited.
(4) Penalty for ragging : Whosoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets or propagates ragging within or outside any education institution shall, on conviction be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend two years and shall also be liable to a fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
(5) Dismissal of student : Any student convicted of an offence under section 4 shall be dismissed from the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of five years from the date of order of such dismissal.
(6) Suspension of student
(1) Whenever any student or, as the case may be, the parent or guardian, or a teacher of an educational institution complains, in writing, or ragging to the head of the educational institution, the head of that educational institution shall, without prejudice to the foregoing provisions, within seven days of the receipt of the complaint, enquire into the matter mentioned in the complaint and if; prima facie, it is found true, suspend the student who is accused of the offence, and shall, immediately forward the complaint to the police station having jurisdiction over the area in which the educational institution is situated, for further action.
(2) Where, on enquiry by the head of the educational institution, it is proved that there is no substance, prima facie, in the complaint received under sub-section (1), he shall intimate the fact, in writing, to the complainant.
(3) The decision of the head of the educational institution that the student has indulged in ragging under sub-section (1), shall be final.
(7) Deemed abetment : If the head of the educational institution fails or neglects to take action in the manner specified in section 6 when a complaint of ragging is made, such person shall be deemed to have abetted the offence of ragging and shall, on conviction, be punished as provided for in section 4. Power to make rules
(8) (1) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, amend mies for carrying out all or any of the purposes of this Act.(2) Every rule made under this Act shall be laid, as soon as my be, after it is made, before each House of the State Legislature, while it is in session for total period
of thirty days, which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if before the expiry of the session in which it is so laid or the session immediately following, both houses agree in making any modification in the rules or both Houses agree that the rule should not be made, and notify such decision in the Official Gazette, the rule shall from the date of publication of such notification, have effect only in such modified form or be or no effect, as the case may be; so however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done or omitted to be done under that rule.
