‘Vetter’s Letter
As we sit here getting bombarded with one snowstorm after another, our ‘Vettes seem to be the last thought on our minds. I constantly pass my ‘Vette — under its cover in the garage — and it reminds me of the warmer weather that seems so far away.
Fortunately, in three short months our 2011 Springfest show will be upon us. We'll be gearing up for the event and Dennis Corona, along with his fellow Spring‐festers, will be needing our help once again. To have another successful show, the event chairs need items for the tricky tray auction as well as additional trophy sponsors. The volunteer sheet will be circulating at upcoming meetings, so let's roll up our sleeves and lend a hand.
AACC’s annual bus trip to the Atlantic City Car Show and Auction is coming up in mid‐February. Let’s try our best to fill the bus and maximize the fun!
I know it doesn't seem like it, but the 2011 Corvette season is just around the corner. Before long, local cruises and NCCC and regional Corvette events will start filling our weekend plans. Just hang in there a little while longer...

Are You Feeling Lucky?
Jan. 17‐23 — Barrett‐Jackson’s 40th Anniv. Scottsdale Auction had over 40 hours of live TV coverage on SPEED‐TV. If you weren’t lucky enough to attend in person, hopefully you could watch some of the frenzied bidding in TV. More then 1200 cars sold at no reserve for nearly $70 million in total sales. Who said we were in the midst of a recession?
119 Corvettes crossed the block — ranging from a ‘53 through an ‘09 cus‐tom coupe — with Lot #1279, a 1959 Custom Convertible getting the #10 overall highest bid at $253,000.
Top sellers from the entire auction were:
1. 2012 Ford Boss Mustang Laguna Seca coupe – $450,000
2. 1956 De Soto Fireflite convertible – $368,500
3. 1932 Ford custom roadster – $346,500
4. 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica retractable hardtop coupe – $330,000
5. 1932 Chrysler Imperial convertible sedan – $330,000
Sponsors Ford and GM made charity a priority during the automotive auction week. Executives from Ford, including President of the Americas/Executive VP of Ford Motor Co. Mark Fields, were on stage when a one‐off 2012 Ford Boss Mustang Laguna Seca coupe (Lot #1296) sold for $450,000, with all proceeds benefitting JDRF. Chevrolet executives unveiled a 2011 Camaro Indy 500 pace car (Lot #1284) on Jan. 20, to an exclusive invita‐tion‐only audience. The collectible GM racer was auctioned on Saturday to benefit the David Foster Foundation and generated $225,000.
The highest selling package was a car, boat and trailer trio. A limited edition Crystal Red Metallic 2008 Corvette LE Z06 coupe (Lot #1303.2), sold with its colors matching 2010 Marine Technology Inc. Catamaran custom 44’ performance boat (Lot #1303) and 2006 American Tilt trailer (Lot #1303.1) for $742,500.

Muscle Car City
Allentown Area Corvette Club ‘Vetter’s Letter | Vol. 18, Iss. 2 | February 2011
March 6, 2010 — While Michelle and I were on vacation with Elly Reynard in Florida, we visited Rick Treworgy’s Muscle Car City in
Punta Gorda, FL. If you are ever in the area of Fort Myers, you simply MUST visit this museum. It’s an ode to pure American (GM)
power. Rick’s collection expanded to the point where he outgrew his former venue and purchased an old WalMart store. That
gave him nearly 99,000 square feet to dedicate to his passion.
Opened in early March 2009, Muscle Car City features nearly 200 automobiles of every era dating back to the 1920's. As per its
name, the museum's major focus is on the "muscle cars" of the mid 60's to early 70's ‐ the Pontiac GTOs, Chevy Corvettes,
Oldsmobile Cutlass 442s, Chevelles, Camaros and high‐horsepower Impalas that revved up the imaginations of teens and young
adults all over America. Most of all, there are more ‘Vettes than anything else — every model year from 1954‐1975 and several
from each newer generation. There are an impressive fifteen ‘67s which are mostly big blocks! What’s amazing about this display
is that everything is still street‐worthy. Think you could find something to take for a spin?
The museum includes a 60's diner
themed cafe as well as a memora‐
bilia gift shop carrying everything
from T‐shirts, posters and jewelry
to neon signs and gas pumps.
Admission was $12.50 per person
during our visit in 2010.

Springfest is nearly upon us. The major planning has been done and execution is the final step...along with a prayer for nice weather!
For this year’s Springfest to be a true success, we still need donations for both Tricky Tray auction items as well as door prizes. Either merchandise or gift certificates are welcome! Dennis Corona has donor receipt forms available at club meetings or by contacting him directly.
If you are interested in sponsoring a trophy class, contact Rich Piccirilli. Once again, your $100 sponsorship covers a full class of three trophies (first, second, third) and includes registration for a single Corvette to the show.
Be sure to watch for the helper’s sign‐up sheet circulating at club meetings. We need all hands on deck to help with registration, parking, ticket sales for the Tricky Tray and 50/50, prize distribution, ballot tallying, awards presentation, and — most importantly — clean‐up. It truly take an entire club to pull off an event as large as Springfest. Let’s do all we can to make Dennis’s final Springfest the best ever!

AACC Meets AARP Norb Szymanski is more than a pharmaceutical retiree and the club’s NCCC Governor. He
also has time to run safe driving courses for AARP. The courses are either 8‐hours for first‐
time attendees or 4‐hours for a renewal course and will earn 50+ year old an additional discount on their auto insurance. Norb
mentioned the classes a few times at club meetings. If you missed his information and are interested in getting at least 5% off your
car insurance, contact Norb at 610‐691‐3108. The venue for the meetings will be identified when Norb has enough folks to run the
courses.

OnStar Anywhere from www.GMInsideNews.com
Allentown Area Corvette Club ‘Vetter’s Letter | Vol. 18, Iss. 2 | February 2011
Jan. 04, 2011 — General Motors' telematics division, OnStar, announced a new
service called 'OnStar Anywhere' at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas. The new hardware and service is targeted at owners of non‐GM products.
Owners of non‐GM vehicles not equipped with OnStar from the factory will be able
to purchase a new 'blue button' rearview mirror for their vehicles. The new mirror will obviously house OnStar services for the non‐
GM product.
According to OnStar the mirror‐‐along with a subscription‐‐will allows the users to access turn by turn navigation, automatic crash
notification and Bluetooth.
The new service is a new twist on a formula OnStar has tried before. Several years ago OnStar sold their service in select non‐GM
products, though it was factory installed by the respective vehicle OEM. OnStar Anywhere will be sold at Best Buy and other retail‐
ers starting this spring.
NCCC Update forwarded email from Norb Szymanski, NCCC Governor RE: Convention 2011 ~ Please share with your Club Members ~
Many Event Information Links have been posted on the Convention 2011 page on the NCCC
web site under Conventions ~ Past‐Present‐Future. The links have been created to help
Members get themselves prepared for which Events they would like to participate in during
Convention Week. Checking out the Events ahead of time should make it easier for everyone
to fill out the On Line Registration Form come February 1, 2011. More Event Information Links
will be posted in the near future.
RE: NCCC Club Newsletter Contest
The NCCC Club Newsletter Contest is now open. The Rules and Guidelines for entering the Contest are posted to the NCCC web
site under Contests to Enter. With the inaugural year being 1972, it is the longest running contest in NCCC's history. Club partici‐
pation will help keep it alive. Those Clubs issuing an electronic newsletter would only need to print a few copies to enter.
RE: NCCC Club Web Site Contest
The NCCC Club Web Site is now open. The Rules and Guidelines for entering the Contest are posted to the NCCC web site under
Contests to Enter. The Contest has only been around since 2005 but is a great opportunity for a Club to "show off" their Club
site. Fancy "bells & whistles" programming is not required to be a great NCCC Club Web Site!
RE: Change of Governor and/or Governor E‐Mail Address
If this e‐mail has been received by the "old" Governor of your Club and should have been received by the "new" Governor, please
be sure the NCCC Database has been updated. It is so very helpful if Governor and Governor contact information is kept up to date
and only the current Database information is used for Communication from the NCCC Secretary and the NCCC Treasurer.
Thank you for all you do for your Club, your Region and NCCC. Together we should have a great 2011!

the seven‐round global sportscar championship, which begins at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in
March. The car represents the first time a team outside Pratt and Miller had built an ALMS Corvette,
and finished in the top five a number of times in 2009.
