Alliance of Young Professionals for Social and Environmental Development Inc. is a non-profit organization with the mandate for a lasting social and environmental development based on the principles of sustainability and humane social order that promotes a just, peaceful, secure, productive and harmonious environment. Established in July 16, 2010, Alliance, Inc. is composed of young, dedicated and dynamic professionals sharing the principles of DEMOCRACY and ACCOUNTABILITY by giving high premium to consultative, transparent, and participatory ways of working and decision-making. Its thematic programs include capacity building, education, environment, youth, women and health/HIV/Aids across the Province of Camarines Sur. With its presence in the first district of the province- Cabusao, Del Gallego, Ragay and Sipocot, Alliance, Inc., has set its thematic focus on promoting environmental long-term solutions, advocating action and entering into mutual agreements with a diverse set of stakeholders for their effective participation in development. Furthermore, environment and sustainable livelihood are the underlining theme across all its interventions ensuring for more people participation and involvement to increase long term sustainability.

(MUNICIPALITY of CABUSAO, CAMARINES SUR) in partnership with the LGU of Cabusao

increased the level of awareness among the different

grade levels and high school levels in relation to the contest theme and to be used as advocacy campaign

materials of the sponsoring NGO

In support of the El Verde Movement, 13,168 seedlings out of the 8,000 targeted nursery grown species found

in the Ragay River Watershed was produced

(MUNICIPALITY of SIPOCOT, CAMARINES SUR) assist the LGU in the documentation and implementation of institutional

strengthening activities in the nine barangays of Sipocot, Camarines Sur

including the preparation, implementation and documentation of trainings,

workshops and orientations, and IEC Advocacy activities in the area of

coverage.

It also designed to enhance the awareness of community in the protection and

management of the Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed Management Project. This

is also to promote community-driven initiatives on watershed conservation and

protection measures and other environmental activities.

PROJECTS

(in coordination with Libmanan-Pulantuna Planters Federation) implementation of the Participatory Rapid Needs Assessment of Farmers Cooperatives within the thirty (30) municipalities of Camarines Sur which paved way for an easy determination of the facilitating factors and hindering issues encountered by the cooperatives

(in coordination with Department of Environment and Natural Resources)

An array of lectures-demonstration covering RA 9003(Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000), implementation strategies on SWM, Guidelines on the Categorized Final Disposal Facility, backyard composting and other lucrative means of reducing wastes.

Much emphasis is given to PO’s strengthening activities and capability building which were successfully carried out through the commitment and active collaboration of the LGU and DENR. During the project implementation, one of the approaches adopted was the IEM system-a practical approach of developing watershed resources and redeveloping the key players and stakeholder firm commitment in management participation for the Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed. In addition, the team approach in implementation was adopted to create greatest impact and has produced useful lessons learnt for future strategies in project implementation.

(MUNICIPALITY of CABUSAO, CAMARINES SUR) On its shared vision to undertake developmental projects on ecotourism, watershed conservation and protection, there were an array of joint undertakings between the LGU Cabusao and Alliance, Inc. These collaborations are the following:

a) Information and Education Campaign

Production of Photo and Video Documentation and Write-up

Production of Coffee Table Book and IEC Materials

Production of Flyers and Field Guides b) Preparation of Management Plan and Conduct of Forum, Lectures and

Symposium c) Capability Building and Developmental Trainings

Similarly, the design of the Management Plan including the conduct of forum, lecture and symposium was designed to increase community involvement in harnessing resources while empowering the local communities to be involved in their own process of development. Capability Building and Developmental Trainings include:

Orientation of the LPWMP Activities to stakeholders Bird Identification and Tour Guiding Community-based Ecotourism

(MUNICIPALITY of SIPOCOT, CAMARINES SUR) The design of the project focus on community organizing which was divided into two components: a) Institutional Strengthening, and b) Project implementation, Management and Supervision. The Institutional strengthening was further divided into three key areas, namely: trainings and workshops, capability building and IEC/ advocacy. Underpinning these components, where the two-pronged sub-projects to cater the fundamental need of the target communities: Riverbank stabilization and Agroforestry.

A 5-month project implementation of Riverbank Stabilization and Livelihood programs that includes: Bamboo Furniture Making, Coco Coir Twine Making, Inc. and Eco-Tourism Development at Malinao Rivers and Bulalacao Falls.

The sub-projects were under the Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed Management Project in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Ragay – Municipal Planning and Development Office with the technical assistance provided by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
