To us, creating a Benefits Strategy means looking beyond traditional benefits and partnering with you to offer benefits packages that meet the needs of your

diverse workforce, keep you competitive, and protect your bottom line.

With every single client, we listen more than talk. We’ll learn what is important to you and your company, discover where true challenges reside, and then tailor a multi-year strategy that is in-line with your overall corporate strategy.

Part of our strategic role is often to develop and set a plan in motion that ties systems, data, and communications together, so your company can ultimately be much more effective in controlling costs.

If your benefits program strategy is on target, it will deliver the right results. A well-designed total rewards strategy will attract and retain talent and incentivize and inform employees on how to best use the program. This drives value for all stakeholders, reducing unnecessary claims spend, and improving employee health and productivity.

We’ll continually review your strategy to make sure your desired outcomes are on target, and help you make the adjustments required in today’s constantly changing business landscape.

BENEFITS STRATEGY

We bring you more control in this complex world of benefits

Rethink your employee engagement strategyThe right communication at the right time through the right medium is key. Online, print, smartphone, and good old-fashioned talking — we’ve got it covered.

Your benefit advisor will help you establish key messages and employee groups that need the most focus during and after open enrollment. For open enrollment, we will give you materials that have a strong track record of accurately guiding employees during this critical decision making time.

ONGOING ENGAGEMENT THROUGH BEN-IQ™Ben-IQ is our free mobile app for iPhone and Android. It lets you communicate benefits information directly to your employees and their covered dependents. Ben-IQ gives employees access to plan summaries, key contacts, plan ID cards, and cost of care information.

The cost of care information is especially important. As employees become more involved consumers of healthcare, this cost transparency tool helps them research fair pricing for their care.

Wellness plan incentives are also integrated in Ben-IQ. Pretty slick, eh? You can see why we like to call Ben-IQ “Benefits at the speed of life.”

BENEFITS COMMUNICATIONAn engaging, thoughtful communications strategy ensures that your employees understand the value of their benefits, how to use them in the most effective way, and their responsibility for using their benefits to maximize good health.

The Alliant benefits communication group is comprised of professionals who are experts at designing and executing organizational communication strategies that simplify benefit programs and convey their value. We provide comprehensive communication services, including communication audits/reviews, and creating compelling new campaigns. We develop materials that capture your organization’s culture, employee population characteristics, and the message you want to convey — all wrapped in your own brand. And we ensure that messages are delivered according to a strategic timeline, through a variety of print and digital media.

Wellness works when it’s built on a solid foundation

We start your program by laying down its foundation with data analytics, looking at the health of your whole population, not just bits and pieces. We then create a

profile of your population explaining where its health is.

This data serves as your starting point and the benchmark from which to measure program results year-over-year. From there, we recommend what to do about it. You can expect your Health & Productivity team to:

• Analyze systems, processes, and tools already in place

• Break down silos and create alignments

• Communicate with your employees so that they take action

• Measure results, reassess, and adjust to focus on the long term.

Our highly experienced team of clinicians and wellness consultants will help you design, implement, and measure ongoing results for your Health & Productivity program. Employees will be engaged through tailored communication strategies and incentive programs that help them make informed care decisions and healthy lifestyle choices.

If you want to sustain the health and wellness journey, you need to be able to prove its value. Our clients with a long-term program like this in place have claims costs that outperform trends and report positive cultural shifts. It just makes good business sense to let Alliant create a custom program that can boost the health and security of you and your employees.

We build our Health & Productivity programs from the inside out. No matter your company’s shape or size, your program will be customized based on your strategy, culture, and systems… all those things that are unique to you.

Voluntary Benefits that play well with others

Our goal with Voluntary Benefits is to make them a self-sufficient offering that is highly valued by both your company and your employees. So when we

recommend a Voluntary Benefits program to you, it will be done as part of an overall benefits strategy. It will also take into account the different generational expectations within your workforce. Our ideas will be set in the context of a five-year strategic plan to maximize services received, carrier commitments, and price stability.

Our approach will align and build upon your current operating and administrative system capabilities. We can’t stress enough how important it is that your Voluntary Benefits work with your existing systems, processes, and culture. If they don’t, they can actually be damaging to your overall benefit offering.

Once we understand which data silos need to come together, we will focus on how to effectively manage data delivery and exchange, as well as open enrollment processes and experience. We will evaluate potential carriers’ operational platforms for quality and fit. Further consideration will be given to the carriers’ abilities to integrate with current vendors, systems, and other third party providers you use.

Our team will also manage the implementation and ongoing performance of vendors that you’ve chosen for your Voluntary Benefits program.

Here are just some of the VOLUNTARY BENEFITS we give you access to:

• Accident Insurance

• Auto and Home

• Critical Illness

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Financial Counseling

• Hospital Indemnity

• Identity Theft

• Long-term Care

• Permanent Life Insurance

• Pet Insurance

• Pre-paid Legal

• Wellness Programs

LIFE AND DISABILITY / ABSENCE MANAGEMENT

The status quo will not work An aging workforce and a fraying social safety net are the two reasons why Life and Disability programs are becoming more expensive for employers, and more important to employees. We have a solution. With both cost savings and little to no disruption to your operations, we can make life and disability benefits into one of the most rewarding investments you can make for the financial well-being and satisfaction of your employees. We’ll review every aspect of your benefits strategy including plan design, funding structure, carrier selection, contract arrangements, and pricing levels. Then we’ll recommend short- and long-term savings, and enhancements to bring more value to these benefit offerings.

This is how we get results:

• Underwriting Review and Market Assessment

• Ongoing Claims Review and Forecasting

• Vendor Engagement

• Benchmarking

Our focus on these programs, our resulting scale, ability to innovate, and expertise, result in our services being a competitive advantage for your organization.

Also, disability utilization can provide a unique window into other avenues for medical cost savings through our Absence Management programs and services. So ask your Alliant consultant about Absence Management.

Absence impacts organizations in lots of ways

Loss of productivity, increased compliance risk, higher medical costs, reduced revenue, and bigger operating costs — none of these impacts

are positive. And all of these impacts occur to varying degrees when employees are absent from work. Our absence management and data analytics professionals work with employers in assessing current practices, identifying opportunities, and quantifying results. What occurs after that is the important part. Employers achieve sustainable improvements in the area of those scarcest and most precious of resources (the human kind).

What we understand is how employers should manage disability programs, statutory leaves, and other forms of employee absence. We know the connections between disability incidence and medical costs. We know the vendor marketplace, what capabilities exist, and how to access them. We can help and we will. We’re ready to talk, so give us a call.

RETIREMENT

Fiduciary responsibility rules for retirement plans are often vague and complicated

It’s important to understand that if you serve on your retirement plan’s governing committee, you could be personally liable for the decisions being made about

the plan. Currently there are over 20 lawsuits brought — against employers large and small — claiming they didn’t follow the rules properly. It’s hard for someone who does not live this aspect of the business every day to know if they are following all of these process-based rules correctly.

Ultimately, our goal at Alliant is to partner with our clients, help them design and implement retirement programs that help you address your fiduciary responsibility, and manage risks toward ensuring plan participants are able to retire confidently and on their own terms.

Our expertise extends to Mergers & Acquisitions support, fee analysis and review, and operational evaluation to help identify areas of potential risk.

Only after we have carefully evaluated your retirement plan needs and goals — and thoroughly discussed them with you — do we help you establish a customized strategy to pursue your objectives. Then we help you identify the appropriate services and vendors needed to implement this strategy. Throughout this process, you can always count on us to provide responsive, superior customer service.

Founded in 2002, our Retirement practice is currently servicing about 100 plans with $4 billion in assets under advisement as of December 2015. Our plans range in size between $1 million and $800 million in assets.
