Pasta Dinner Thank You!

There are so many people to thank, too many to list! From the chefs who homemade the sauce, to the chefs who homemade the meatballs, to the volunteers who spent time and talent putting the meals together, to those who spent time distributing meals, to those who cleaned up, to the patrons - without all of us working cooperatively, this successful take out pasta dinner would not have been able to take place!

Because of the generous donations of many people, this fundraiser was pure profit. Because of the generosity of the many patrons who were rewarded with a meal that was both delicious and filling, St. Mary of the Assumption raised $3588.00!

Included in last weekend’s fundraising feast day, Instant Bingos were sold. Volunteers spent several hours Friday night before and after the Vigil Mass and Saturday during the take out dinner times, selling tickets. Winning patrons had an “instant” payout and the profit for St. Mary was $219.00!

The generosity of both St. Mary and St. Ursula Parishioners is evident when we come together to help each other. May all of you be blessed beyond measure!

Which Way Do I Go? High school youth ministry will take a deeper look into relationship with Christ this semester. Our world is forever changing, but our God never changes. Jesus is the way to the kingdom. Let’s unfold the life of Christ and feed the soul. Immerse Yourself In The Life Of Christ The marvelous treasures of the Catholic Faith - the Eucharist, Mary, the Saints, and the Creed - all are centered on a single figure: Jesus Christ. Jesus is more than a historical or theological figure. He is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Lord, and our God. While many of us know a lot about him already, how well can we really say we know him? Jesus: The way, the truth, and the life is a new and fresh look at Jesus - who he is, what he is really like, what he taught, and what he did for our salvation. This encounter with Christ will inspire and empower you (the teen) to center his or her life around him as they come to know and love him in an ever deeper and more intimate way. High school ministry meets Sunday 7:00 - 9:00 pm Aug 23: Meet at the youth house for the Intro - “Jesus in the Gospels and in History: Refocusing on Jesus” Aug 30: Session one - “Jesus and History” Sept 1: OFF Labor Day Weekend

Special Days This Week August 23 – Saint Rose of Lima, a generous woman who devoted her life to prayer for others and service to the poor in her town in Peru. She was the first saint of the Americas to be canonized. August 24 – Saint Bartholomew, Apostle is remembered for his sincerity and love for Jesus. August 25 - Saint Louis, King of France in the 1200’s, is remembered for his justice which allowed for mercy, and for sharing his wealth with the most needy. August 27 – Saint Monica, mother of Augustine, prayed, fasted, cajoled, pleaded, and begged for her son to change his ways, till finally he turned to Jesus and was baptized. See tomorrow… August 28 – Saint Augustine wrote his Confessions, story of his wild, immoral life before conversion and experiencing the mercy of God and the power of His grace. August 29 - The Passion of Saint John the Baptist who died a martyr for truth and justice. Pray that “we, too, may fight hard for the confession of what he taught.”
