Dear Ones in America,

Mixed enctions is the best w^ny to say it. It v/as so wonderful to have tine withmany of you in the States ane it is really ^reat to be back among so many, we H'e learned to love over here.

PEST PART; PEOPLE

Our work is with people. That's our life. The people over'here and you all makeup our life. Just sitting and sharing your growth, victories etc, as well as tellingabout ours means a lot to us. To see old friends, visit with family, observe congregations in action and to share the hospitality of your homes means so much t ; us. Wereally soaked it in.

On the good side was tl.e opportunity to visit congregations of people who supportour work. We were in about GO to 90% of these groups. That is a responsibility wefeel and are happy to have teen with you.

tfePICAL NEEDS MET

It was a blessing to take care of some medical matters while in the U. S. All ofus received general physical examinations while there. Three of us received furthertreatments. Three of us visited the dentist and one saw the Optician, Heidi had thegreatest" experience as she ^.ad a Hernia repaired. Thanks for your prayers for. her

she's doing great. You can see where we spent a lot of time.

NEW CONTACTS M/iDS

V/e received several names and addresses of contacts on this side while there. Iknuw there are many Christian people stationed/working over here from the U. S. whcM.iwe don^t know about, but who would like to sliare our Christian Fellowship. IF WE COULDONLY LEARN OF THEHi: Help us spread the news. We are here, there are others too.

Pid'iYERG ACCOMPANIED OUR FLIGHTS

Many of you prayed for our trip and acre's the news on tiiat. On our fli(;ht tothe U.S. we were re-routed tl;rough N.Y. and not direct to Chicago. We arrivcd^'inCaicago three hours late on a different airline. That's not so bad for us hut Jir.iCormodo (and family) were to drive from north cjf Detroit to meet us. If he hadn't we'd still be sitting there at the airport, for he rented the car for ne.That's ansx7er to prayer, besides Christian thoughtfulness.

AND THE RETURN FLIGHT...

We flew toward Luxemburg from Chicago, About tx70 hours after the take-off thepilot reported to us that our first engine had quit. We turned toward N.Y. (over anhour) where we awaited repairs on the plane. We were hoping to see a different planeupon our return frm the Hotel, There's something about knowing that that one didn'tmake it the first try. She did the second, hox^everl It x^as good to consider yourprayers as we saw the fire trucks routinely x^aiting as we arrived in N. Y,

CHILDREN IMPRESS CO-^TRAVELERS

Forgive the folloxjing but I've just got to tell you. After our long delays ourplane-family became more and more ax^are of each other. Time after time someone X70uldstop us to say how well behaved our children X7ere under the strain and fatigue of ourflight. Randy surprised me most as he made his X7ay up and dox^n the plane making friendsX7ith the people.

ROYAL WELCOME HOME

Bill and Lela Rosnett met us in Luxemburg, They suffered to do it. We x^ere a-bout 13% hours late. That required the entire night for them. They've just movedto Landstuhl near Kaiserslautern. Their nex7 x7ork sounds exciting.

We arrived home Saturday morning after the-five hour drive frora the airport.Saturday night x^as a gathering at the meeting house X7ith Harold Fox^ler and Mac Coffdy. They were X7ith us on Sunday for extra sessions in the morning and afternoon. Theirtalks were deep and helpful on the authority of the scripture and the 0. T. cannon. The large, for us, crowd and food shox^er for us expressed so much to us. We've gothew names to work on, nex7 projects and plans to try--sreatl We enjoy our work.

_ FINANCIAL PLi^NS _

After talking with several over there we decided one of the best moves X7e couldmake tcxjard solutions to several needs would be to print and mail out our financereport with each nex7sletter. This will mean more work to those at Carterville whoso generously volunteer their time but we think it will help you toxvard responsiblegiving. With inflation everyone's income needs to come up and X7e feel sure that youwill respond as you see the situation. Mary has organized our last year's expenses foryour consideration. We think it says a lot so we'll share that xvith you too asX7g11 as a proposed budget for such a x7ork. as ours.

Thank you for the sacrifical gifts for our monthly expenses! Thanks for extragifts for our trip!! Thanks for having a listening ear to our continuing needs, wox^!,such friends!

For YOU in Germany,

Sid, Mary, Jodi, Randy, Heidi, and JohnAllsbury

Dear Friends,

Its good to greet you from Gerrjany! I hofe that each day you can see that you aregrowing in the fruit of the Spirit and in the Peace He brings.

liiliCHIiSGADEN (DER'TChess Gaden)

^ The cooing retreat at BerchCesgaden will be a new experience for us. This programIS promoted, somewhat, by chaplains in various parts of Europe. We were in Derchtesgaden to get a better understanding of the procedure there and at that time saw theiist of people who had already registered. Right away we noticed several names

familiar to us wnich iieans that through this program wewill gain newnon-denominational stand is popbiar with many people in the militarycne cnapel program tends to minimize denominational differences, anyway.

e are working with Chaplain Dan McCall on this retreat. In a word Dan is a "winner."You d like him, first thing. He is loving and thus thoughtful to work with. Whenya ^lan a prngrar: he always thinks u£- huw we can best-provide a prugrau "(jf~ positiveva for the people who come to be blessed. If that sounds strange to you bear inmind hew easy It is to submit to the tendency to "use everybody so that no one willeel left out. When we have an opportunity once in a year or, perhaps, once in a

lifetime to touch the life of the attenders it is no time to put speakers up justto make them feel good, even if we do love that speaker a lot.

By the end of September we had reason to believe that about 130 at that time wouldbe planning to attend. The schedule calls for morning sessions on missions C^>uyMayfleld), Romans (Bruce Shields), hlcohol and Drugs (hrmy Chaplain, specialist onDrugs) and a normal Sunday morning meeting with the Lord's Supper, hfternoons areree for sight-seeing in one of the most beautiful parts of Germany, This is near

Hitler's famous "Egale's Nest", Each evening we will have lots of group singing(Sometaing we never get enough of in our small groups over here), a teenage choirfrom tne Black Forest i^cadeny, good preaching, and a special Tifter-glow planned forthe teens and unmarried young adults. Wouldn't you like to be there?

I d like to make a suggestion. Some of you will one day take a trip to Europe, Iknow you don't expect to, but some of you probably will. Please consider- timingyour trip to coincide with one of the gatherings of Christians in Europe, It wouldbe a real blessing to you and really help us through your presence.

KARLSRUHE

Books on the Holy Spirit are selling like never before. Folks everywhere are sayingthat you can't limit what the H, S, can do. So therefore we read these books frommen and "believe" what they tell us the Spirit is doing today. I can't limit theSpirit on what Ha is doing, but I can read His Book to see what He is most likelydoing today, I can't trust the books of i.ien nor can I use anyone's experience as instructions for my understanding; of what God wants me to do.

Because of many questions related to the Holy Spirit I have been driving to Karlsruheevery-other-week on Sunday evenings to teach in the Home of Florentino Savala. Thefirst time we net there were 9 of us adults. Last tine tnerc were 15 of us. One ofthese men has just accepted the position of adult Sunday School teacher in the Chapelthere. Please pray for these meetings that the authority these people accept will beGod's Word and not ne or any other nan's ideas,

I've gotten better acquainted with Mjs, Ott who lives near the Savala's. She is themother of Bert Ott t'Tere -in r.-^rl dir- cr—-?- ^ h.-ve-

PROJECT: GERMANY OCTOBER NEWS LETTER PAGE TWO

^EILDRONN

October 19th and Nov. 2nd I an to be in Heilbronn to lead the ineeting there on Sundayafternoon in the Chapel. Rick Deighton has been going over there for over a year, now and since August this year has seen several baptized into Christ. His lettersare really filled with enthusiasEi about the victories for God in Heilbronn and inthe Stuttgart area generally. He also teaches on Monday night at Echterdingen whereTota Leedcn and A1 Cinnauon (formerly of Frankfurt) have moved, A great "pocket" ofinterest and conversions has begun here too. Pray for these young Christians here, they'll get far nore done than some of the old timers if they stay faithful,

CHURCH PAPER

We have been rather consistant on mailing the church paper from here each month, Ifeel that this is one of the few regular opportunities to reach people that we cannever even meet, otherwise, I try to include doctrinal as well as devotional material in these letters, plus inform of news about Christians and of Christian eventsaround Europe, We mail out about 250 of these letters to people over here inEurope and in the Navy's 6th Fleet, Some 50 letters go Co the U.S. As we expectpostage to go up the first of the year that will be an Increase of 30% for postagebut still cheaper than we can ever do personally,

MARY'S witness

Some missionary wives wonder how much time they should put in working as missionariesand how much time as mothers and wives. My opinion is that I an the missionary youhave hired and Mary is the missionary's wife. What she can do for you is nice and abargain for you, but I get her first as my wife and my children's mother. You reallythink that's fair, don't you? If not then take your wife with you to the office orfactory tomorrow,

I said the above so I could soy what a good witness a Christian wife and mother canbe, Frau Hobert, next door, was facing some serious medical questions and when theday arrived to go take one of the tests she was a nervous wreck, Mary called her and

_asked uer if she could drive aer to tbe Doctor. She later told us that she considered taat some kind of a miracle that Mary thought of her like that. Her husband couldnot get off from work and her son was sick in bed. She just couldn't face the situation alone, Mary spent tine with her as a friend and neighbor and now every Wednes-

evening we are studying together. We try to help her understand the Bible andshe is trying to help our German vocabulary. With your prayers this could be agreat victory. Without them her doubts and questions will win out,

OBERURSEL

Tlie congregation tiere in Oberursel is always a pleasure. The people are nice to workwith, VJhen a project cones up which they can work on tuey do it with real interest. For the Retreat Guy Mayfield is preparing materials about missions in Europe. FredRagland has been trying his best to publicize the event even though he will be in theU.S. for the U.S, Air Force at that time, Leanna, his wife, is organizing the youthprogram. Discouragements don't seem to count, Jerry Sclmid is the church's treasurer and as such is God's man in his place. He is business minded and spiritual,(df. Acts 6:3, "...full of the Spirit and of wisdom,,") Larry ft Marsha White, eventhough they now must drive an hour and ten minutes, continue to bless us with musicleadership, Edwina Oliver begs me to let her help with office type work, like addressing envelopes. All the ladies make the pitch-in dinners in our home a lot of

"funr A n'^" family, the Pultz family"," are" tr'ying "to "help "get aomvj-carpet for our—floor at the meeting place. It is like ice in the winter. What more can we say...,"... having a great time, wish you were herel" Thanks to God's good grace. We are.
