During November, Cork City Council’s ‘Meet the Professor’ project offered
classroom visits with a talk by Michelle Finnerty on the life, work and music of
Professor Aloys Fleischmann, followed by discussion. The talk was animated by live
performances given by traditional musicians – some by Fiachra O'Corragain and Karl
Nesbitt, others by Eimear Arkins and Caoimhín O Fearghail – playing from
Fleischmann’s Sources of Irish Traditional Music. This was designed to complement
the material available in the ‘Meet the Professor’ education pack sent to schools in
Cork city. The pack is also available online (www.corkcity.ie). The following 13
