ObjectiveThe child will name and match letters of the alphabet.

Materials• Letter Borders (Activity Master) – Copy twice. Cut one alphabet border into individual cards and leave the

other intact attach with glue or tape.

ActivityAfter teacher introduction, children match letter cards to an letter border.1. Place the uncut letter border on a flat surface. Place the border cards face up in a stack.2. Taking turns, child one selects a card, holds it up, and says the name of the letter (e.g., “h”).3. Child two matches the card to the letter on the letter border.4. Continue until all cards are matched on the uncut border.5. Peer evaluation

Adaptations and Extensions• Have child one identify and match letters and then have child two take a turn.• Match uppercase and lowercase letter cards to letter border.
