Aluminum Can Recycling Aluminum cans should be emptied and placed in recycle bins marked with "Aluminum.” Aluminum cans are accepted either whole or crushed. Aluminum cans contaminated with food, tobacco or other foreign materials will not be accepted. Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for placing accumulated aluminum cans in the roll-off bins for pick-up. Turn in at the Fort Polk Recycling Center or at the 24 hr. recycling drop-off located at BLDG# 3622 on the corner of Georgia and Main Ave. Or Participate in the Curbside Recycling Program. Aluminum Can Recycling

• Aluminum cans should be emptied and placed in recycle bins marked with "Aluminum.”

• Aluminum cans are accepted either whole or crushed.

• Aluminum cans contaminated with food, tobacco or other foreign materials will not be accepted.

• Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for placing accumulated aluminum cans in the roll-off bins for pick-up.

Turn in at the Fort Polk Recycling Center or at the 24 hr. recycling drop-off located at BLDG# 3622 on the corner of Georgia and Main Ave.

Or

Do not mix Aluminum Cans with other types

of metal containers/materials.

Cardboard Recycling• Cardboard is corrugated, paper

board is not. Paper board is considered mixed paper.

• Cardboard boxes should be broken down before turn-in.

• Waxed corrugated boxes are not recyclable and can be placed in the trash.

• Cardboard that is contaminated with food can not be recycled (ex. pizza boxes).

Turn in at the Fort Polk Recycling Center or the 24 hr. recycling drop-off located at BLDG# 3622 on the corner of Georgia and Main Ave.

Or

Deposit in green dumpsters stationed around the installation marked for cardboard recycling (managed by a solid waste contractor).

Do not mix Cardboardwith paper board or

other types of materials.

White Paper Recycling ONLY WHITE office printer paper and copier

paper may be placed in the white paper bin (may have colored or black/white ink).

Staples do not need to be removed.

REMOVE clam clips, binder clips or any other paper material that is not considered to be white paper (folder covers, binders, sticky notes, etc.)

Paper that is contaminated with food, other types of paper or gets wet will not be accepted for recycling.

Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for placing accumulated white paper in the roll-off bins for pick-up.

Do not mix WHITE PAPERwith other types of paper material.

Plastic Beverage Container Recycling (#1 PETE)

Plastic beverage containers marked type "1" are accepted for recycling.

Containers are clear (no color) beverage containers.

Ensure plastic containers are free of liquid and the CAPS ARE REMOVED before placing in the recycling bins.

Caps can be disposed of in the trash.

Bottles do not have to be rinsed, but CANNOTcontain tobacco products or other foreign material in the bottle.

Plastic beverage containers can be taken to the Fort Polk Recycling Center.

Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for placing accumulated plastic beverage containers in the roll-off bins for pick-up.

Do not mix #1 PETE plastic beverage containers with other types of plastics.

Turn in at the Fort Polk Recycling Center or the 24-hr Recycling Drop-off located at BLDG# 3622 on the corner of Georgia and Main Ave.

Shredded/Crosscut/Pulverized

Paper Recycling

Shredded Paper

• Store shredded paper and cross-cut paper (>1” long) in clear plastic bags.

• Do not place shredded paper in 96 gallon roll out cart or regular paper collection recycling bins.

• Participants in Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for transporting accumulated and bagged shredded and cross-cut paper (>1” long) to the curb on collection day.

Pulverized Paper

• Cross-cut shredded paper that is less than 1” long is not recyclable in the normal paper recycling stream. Treat as pulverized paper.

• Pulverized paper is collected and used as input for other projects.

• Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for transporting accumulated and bagged pulverized/cross-cut paper to the curb on collection day.

Shredded, cross-cut and pulverized paper can also be taken directly to the Fort Polk Recycling Center.

Mixed Paper/Paper Board Recycling

Mixed paper includes almost all other paper products NOT considered to be white paper or corrugated cardboard. Paper board is the cardboard like material found in paper towel rolls and boxes that hold can drinks. The following are examples of mixed paper and paper board:

Magazines Telephone books Paper bags Maps Books/Manuals (unless

considered white paper, then remove bindings and coverings, if possible, and place in “white paper” receptacle.

Newspaper with inserts File folders Phone books Carbonless duplication paper

Tablet paper Discarded mail Envelopes Packing paper Food boxes (paper board) Soda boxes (paper board) Computer printout paper that has

pink, green, or blue bars to delineate the rows

All colored paper (color was present before printing)

Post-it notes Frozen food boxes

And any other clean paper material not listed here.

Participants in the Curbside Recycling Program are responsible for placing accumulated mixed paper in the roll-off bins for pick-up.
