Specially designed fixing clamps (deposited design)are used for the attachment of wall fasteners and safetycagehoopsto the ladderuprights.Thesefix-ing clamps can be clipped to the ladder uprights at any desired position, which, together with the avail-ability of a large range of wall fasteners, provides for
fast and easy installation on most support structures. Theladdercanbefittedparallelorperpendiculartothe wall. The vertical distance between wall fasten-ersshouldnotexceed9’10”or3m,exceptwhenrein-forced uprights are used.
Thefixingclampscanbefittedintwoways:com-pletelyfixed,orallowingvertical movement. The fitting allowing verticalmovement is used for long ladders, to allow for different thermal expan-sion of the ladder and the building structure.

According to standard ISO14122-4 (machinery access) asafetycageisrequiredforlad-ders above 9’10” or 3 m (ex-cept when a lifeline is used, seepage3.7).Thesafetycagehas to provide a free diameter ofminimum2’2”or65cmandmaximum2’7”or80cm.
The JOMY safety cage is com-posed of 5 round cage uprights Ø11/16”or18mm,whichpasscentrally through the hoops withsquaresectionof1”or25mm. The free diameter within thehoopsis2’4”or70cm.Thevertical distance between the hoops can be fixed freely ac-cording to required specifica-tions. It is recommended to limit this vertical distance to maximum3’3”or1m.

1. materialsOnly materials not subject to corrosion can be used. The ladder is made of aluminum alloy pro-files,anodized10micron,naturalmatfinishing;fasteners (bolts, rivets and washers) of stainless steel A2-70 DaN/mm2; joint washers, bushes, plugs, etc. in polyamide and elastomer.
Noprotectivetreatment, paintingormaintenanceis required, except when exposed to aggressiveenvironments.
No welding is allowed. The rungs are clinchedinto the uprights. Bolts and rivets are used for all other assembly.
The ladder can be polyester powder coated in any RALcolor(option).
2. installationThe ladder is installed vertically.
Asingletypeoffixingclampsisusedfortheat-tachments of wall fasteners and safety cage hoopstotheladderuprights.Thesefixingclampscan be clipped to the ladder uprights at any de-sired position.
Inordertotakeintoaccountthedifferentthermalexpansion of the wall structure and the ladder, the ladder can expand freely within its anchor bracketswithoutdeformationordamage.
Forlateralaccesstotheladder, theupperrungwill beat approximately 5 ft or 1.5mabove the
upper point of access. For access from the top, widened upright projections, allowing a passage-wayofatleast2’4”or62cm,canbeused.Inthelatter case the upper rung is at level with the ac-cessfloor.
3. dimensionsTheladdercorrespondstostandardsEN131andISO14122-4.
Theladderiscomposedofstandardizedelementsof11ftor3.36mmaximallength,whichareas-sembled to the desired length. These elements are connected by perforated aluminum sleeves that are shifted inside the uprights. Bolts are used for fastening.
Theuprightsarespacedat1’4”or400mm, therungaxesat11”or280mm.
The ladder uprights have an oblong section (2-15/16”x1”x5/64”or75x26x2mm)withround-ed corners. The rungs are round (Ø 1-3/10” or33mm)withaflattenedandgroovedanti-slipup-per face.
4. optionsThe manufacturer can equip the ladder with asafety cage, consisting of hoops and vertical bars. Thehoopsarebenthollowsquareprofilesof1”x1”x1/16”or25x25x1.5mmandtheverticalbarsarehollowroundprofilesofØ11/16”x3/32”

Themanufacturercanequiptheladderwithafallarrest system according to standard EN 353-1.The lifelineshallbebasedonafixedaluminumrail and a stepless safety carriage.
The manufacturer can equip the ladder with acounterbalanced lower sliding ladder to prevent accessbyunauthorizedpersons:

• the sliding part is counterbalanced byweightsthatshift inhollowprofiles;axes,springs and cables are of stainless steel, pulleywheelsofpolyacetal(POM-H);
• release of the sliding part is possible viaa mechanism controlled from above, from below or from the side (to be specified). Release via a foot treadle is possible.
