IN the })reparation of tliis first separate catalogue of the ahiirini of Rip-

on College the purpose has been to give it a character between that of

a mere list of names with degrees, honors, and residences; and that of a

detailed history of the lives of alumni since their graduation. To carry

out this purpose arbitrar\' rules have been necessarily adopted to deter-

mine whether certain items of information should be inserted. The com-

mittee may have erred in these rules, but they have applied them impar-

tially to all items which came to hand.

Information for use in iuture editions of this catalogue, either con-

cerning errors and omissions in this edition, or in relation to events which

may occur hereafter, can be sent to the Registrar of the College; and such

information is earnestly requested from all alumni and friends.
