RESIDENT PARTICIPANT: $250 fee covers 2 nights single lodging in Ramsay Hall, five meals, and all classes and activities. $220 per person for double occupancy.

DAY PARTICIPANT: $150 fee covers three meals (dinner on Friday and lunch and dinner on Saturday) and all classes and activities.

CLASS 1 OPTIONS (Saturday, 8:30-10:00 a.m.) Living in the Present Moment: Explore yoga, deep breathing and other creative exercises to relieve everyday stress (led by Dr. David Callaghan). Bring a mat or a towel and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Aqua-juvenation and BACK in Motion: Experience the invigorating feel of water as you exercise in a non-impact environment. Become better informed about your core and your back along with simple ways to care for both (led by Dr. Carolyn Miller Kirby and Dr. Tommy Ponder, orthopedic clinical specialist). Bring a swimsuit and towel—swimming skills are not required—hair stays dry.

Mastering Chess: Experience one of the world’s greatest board games. Learn the basics of how to play chess from math professor and Alabama Chess Master, Dr. Scott Varagona, and then practice by playing casual chess games with each other.

CLASS 2 OPTIONS (2-part class, Saturday, 10:15-11:45 a.m. and 1:00-2:30 p.m.) Organic Gardening: Visit the University’s Community Garden and learn the principles of organic gardening from master gardener, Ms. Holly Wadleigh.

Expressive Watercolor Painting: Art Professor Misty Bennett will introduce you to the basic techniques of watercolor painting. Bring in an object you would like to paint, or choose one provided by the instructor. All supplies provided.

Cyanotype Workshop: Cyanotype (Blueprint) is a historic photographic pro-cess for making prints from negatives. Using your current photographs,

Art Professor Scott Stephens will guide you in making negatives on transparent film and printing them as cyanotypes. Bring a jpeg digital file on a USB drive or a traditional photo print to be scanned. All other supplies will be furnished.

CLASS 3 OPTIONS (Sunday, 8:30-10:00 a.m.) Writing Memoir: It’s never too early to begin recording your life experiences. Memoirist and English professor Dr. Glenda Conway will lead you through exercises that will help you start (or continue) your memoirs.

Digitizing Your Photographs: University Archivist, Professor Carey Heatherly, will show you how to preserve your treasured photographs. Bring 8 photographs you wish to preserve and a flash drive with at least 2 GB of available space

Unlocking the Doors to Your Family History: Library Director Kathy Lowe will help you trace your roots by using databases and other online resources. Internet access, computers, and copiers will be provided. Participants are encouraged to interview family members in advance of the workshop and to bring family records.

Ready for your retirement? And is your retirement ready for you? Business faculty, Professor Clint Dillard and Dr. Doug Smith, will cover both financial and non-financial topics related to preparing for retirement to minimize surprises and disappointments and maximizing the realization of a fulfilling and enjoy-able retirement. Bring those questions you’ve always wanted to ask.
