Alumni Meet In any educational institute, alumni or past students play a vital role in its development and advancement. On 26 th January 2017 Alumni Meet was conducted at DKTE’s Textile and Engineering Institute, Ichalkaranji. Principal Prof. Dr. P.V. Kadole, welcomed the alumni and briefed about the progress of institute in last year. He also discussed about role of alumni in development of students by supporting them for trainings, visits, expert lectures and through frequent interactions. The interaction session among faculty members and alumni was conducted at mechanical department. In the interaction Dr. V.R. Naik carried out progress review and briefed about achievements of department. Many alumni expressed their views and suggestions for student’s development and were impressed with the progress of department in past years. They also assured their whole hearted support for various student centered activities of the institutes. Response to this meet was overwhelming. Prof.S.A.Soundattikar coordinated and Prof. V.R.Balwan anchored the function. Faculty members and supporting staff members from department were present for the function. Alumni Meet 2017

Alumni Meet In any educational institute, alumni or past students play a vital role in its

Alumni Meet 2017

Expert Lecture on Innovations in Biomedical Engineering Expert Lecture was organized by Students Chapter of 'The Institution of Engineers',

Mechanical Engineering Department for Third year Mechanical Engg. students. Prof.

N.V.Deshpande of KIT and his team delivered a lecture on ‘Innovations in Biomedical

Engineering’ on 18th January 2017, The Focus was provided on Real Time Problems in

Medical with their Engineering Solutions. The workshop was co-ordinated by

Prof.V.P.Gaikwad and Prof. M.A.Bote

DKTE Go Karting Teams

Teams were all set to race to victory at Indian Karting Championship held in NEXUS Training

Institute, Pune, Maharashtra. The students of Mechanical Engineering. created a Virtual

Vehicle named GO-KART. The Two teams namely ‘DKTE Drifters’, ‘DKTE Eagle ace’ were to

participate in the event. While Flagging-off Principal along with Mechanical HOD praised

students about their spirit and intense passion about the event.Eventually the teams

brought laurels to the institute.

1st Prize at TechnoVision 2K17

The students from BE Mechanical Engineering, Miss. Puja Patil, Miss. Varsha Kamble and

Miss. Snehal Shinde bagged First Prize in Project Presentation Competition held at Latthe

Education Society’s, Polytechnic, Sangli on 7th January 2017. At the event they presented

their project titled, “Design and Development of Electronic Cooling System using Phase

Change Material flowing through Microchannel”. The project was guided by Prof. V. P.

Gaikwad.

1st Prize at TechnoVision 2K17 Sangli

Industrial visit of TE Mech students at IMTEX 2017, Toyota Kirloskar

Motors, and Ace Micromatic, Bangalore

76 students of Third Year Mechanical Engineering along with 7 faculty members visited

IMTEX exhibition 2017 and Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Bangalore from 31stJanuary 2017 to

3rd February 2017. During this period, at IMTEX students got exposure to the latest

technology in manufacturing, CNC, quality control, and tool engineering. At Toyota Kirloskar

Motors, students came to know about the automation used in car assembly line. In Ace

Micromatic students saw Manufacturing of CNC machines and inspection at every stage of

CNC Machine manufacturing. This visit was coordinated by Prof. B.B. Kabnure, Prof. A.R.

Balwan, Dr. V.R. Naik (Head of Department) and Prof. G.S. Joshi (Training and Placement

officer-Engg.)

Industrial Visit at IMTEX 2017 and Kirloskar Toyato Motors, Banglore

Dr. V. D. Shinde of our institute was invited to deliver a lecture in a STTP organized recently by Sanjeevan Engineering and Technology Institute,

Panhala. He delivered a lecture on “Advanced Melting and Casting Techniques”.

Faculty members from various Engg. Institutes in and around attended the

short term training Program.

Events In Tech-Symposium 2K17 on 17th Feb.2017,at Mechanical department .

1. Poster Presentation

Under this contest two events were conducted,

a) Expert- In this, students of TE and BE can participated and presented their poster based on mini and Major project.

The winners of this event were as follows:

Winner: a) AshiwiniZujar b)SheetalShingare from DKTE Runner up: a) Pawan Patil b) NileshGaikwad from T.K.I.E.T Warananagar

b) Novice- In this, students of FE and SE participated and presented their poster based on any one of

the following topics Demonetization in India, Energy Resources, Latest technology in the past decade, Make in India, Global Warming.

The response to poster presentation was overwhelming. Total no. of participants enrolled were 100.

The winners of this event were as follows: Winner: Omkar Mali from DKTE

Runner up:PravinMarunar from KLE Belgaum

2. Jig Design

In this contest students from TE and BE can participated and created a model of Jig for a given component using either CATIA or SOLID WORKS.

Total no. of participant enrolled were 31. The winners of this event were as follows:

Tech-Symposium 2K17

TECHNOLOGY MEET, Belgaum Prof.Dr.Vasudev Shinde was invited to present the SMART Foundry Initiative in the

Technology Meet held at Belgaum on 23rd February 2017. The progress of Smart Foundry,

especially technology updates and process of implementing it in actual foundry was

presented. The participants from Belgaum foundry cluster, academicians and government

official were present in this meet. Mr Sanjay Chavre, Senior Development Officer, Dept of

Heavy Industries, Govt. of India, Chairman for Technology Meet appreciated the technology

transfer scheme.

Paper Presentation and Publication by Mechanical Engg. Students at

International Conference

A group of students from Mechanical engineering department presented 7 research papers at

International Conference on Recent Challenges in Engineering and Technology (ICRCET-

2017). These papers were based on their final year and third year projects and research work

done in various areas related to mechanical engineering. These papers are also published in

the International Journal of Engineering Research in Mechanical and Civil Engineering

(IJERMCE).

The conference was held at SIT Yadrav on 23rd and 24th February 2017. Some of the themes

in Mechanical Engineering included Human-Robot Interfaces, Manufacturing process and

automation, Robotics, Automation and control systems, Production Management, Finite

Element Analysis, etc. The quality of papers and the results obtained by the students was

appreciated at the conference by the session chairman, judging panel and delegates. The

students were guided by Prof. S. A. Soundattikar and Prof. G. C. Mekalke with a constant

support from Prof. Dr. V. R. Naik, HOD, Mechanical Engineering Department.

Discussion in Technology Meet Belgaum

Parents’ Meet (Mechanical Engineering Department) On 1stApril2017, Parents’ Meet was organized at Mechanical department. Prof.(Dr.) V.R. Naik

delivered welcome speech to the parents and explained the importance of the meet and

discussed about the progress of department and curricular and extra co-curricular activities

of mechanical department related to students.Prof. G.S. Joshi, Training and Placement

Officer, Engineering, explained current industrial situations and need for student’s

preparation related to various skills for campus placement. After it parents expressed their

expectations from institute and expressed satisfaction over the progress of their ward. Prof.

P.N. Gore proposed vote of thanks and anchored the function.

Paper presentation by Students at ICRCET-2017

Parent Meet 2017

PUC CHECK-UP CAMP AT DKTE To create the awareness among the people about increased pollution due to vehicles ,

Pollution Under Control (PUC) Check-up Camp was organized on 08th April 2017 by

Mechanical Department jointly with M/s Pankaj Fuels (An approved PUC centre by Motor

Vehicle Department and Diesel Fuel supply system calibration centre approved by MICO-

BOSCH), Kolhapur. During the camp, number of Petrol two & four wheeler vehicles along

with the Diesel vehicles were also tested for their exhaust emissions with the help of

advanced PUC testing machines and accordingly the test reports and PUC certificates were

issued to the vehicle owners. Mr. Patil from M/s Pankaj Fuels explained the different factors

on which the pollution depends and he also advised different vehicle owners regarding the

remedies in order to overcome the pollution problem. There was very a nice response from

DKTE faculty and staff, students along with the outside people. This activity was co-

ordinated by Prof. A.D.Patil from Mechanical Engineering Department. This event was

organized as an energy club initiative towards pollution Awareness.

Meeting of Board of Studies in Mechanical Engineering

The Meeting of Board of Studies in Mechanical Engineering under autonomous system was held on

Monday 12th May 2017 in the Institute. Prof. Dr. Sanjay M.G. (VJTI, Mumbai), Prof. Dr. Raju

Pawade, (BATU Lonere), Prof. Dr. N. K. Chougule ( COE Pune), Prof. Dr. Jayant Kittur (GIT, Belgaumi)

were present for this meeting along with Senior faculty from Mechanical Engineering Department of

institute.

Major points in the agenda were: Discussion on Syllabus Structure, Detailed Syllabi of Second Year

B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering in Autonomous Structure and M.Tech. Mechanical (Product Design

& Development), Evaluation Schemes and New Methodology for Innovative Teaching.

BOS Members at Mechanical BOS meeting

SMART Foundry- Indian Institute of Foundrymen, Kolhapur Chapter Prof. Dr. V.D. Shinde, of Mechanical Engineering Department was invited for Unique workshop on

‘SMART Foundry’ on 24th May 2017 at Indian Institute of Foundrymen, Kolhapur Chapter. The workshop was attended by about 40 foundry professionals. The session was very interactive

followed by question answer session on current foundry practices.

Automotive Part Design Using CATIA Every Semester Mechanical Engg. Department of Institute conducts a Certificate Course in “Automotive Part

Design Using CATIA” in association with Hoyt Engineering Solutions, Pune. In this Semester it is being

conducted from 29th May 2017 to 24th June 2017. This is 11th batch since 2007. The resource persons for the

course are: Mr. Umesh Sawant, Dr. S. S. Patil and Mr. Girish from HOYT. Prof G.C.Mekalke from DKTE is

Coordinator for this activity. The course is guided by Prof.Dr.V.R.Naik.

Indian Institute of Foundrymen, Kolhapur Chapter

Student of Automotive Part Design Course

Industrial Automation Basic Workshop for Sound Castings Pvt. Ltd Kolhapur.

Mechanical Department conducted Certification Workshop on ‘Industrial Automation’ for the

Professionals from Maintenance and Production Departments of “Sound Castings Pvt. Ltd.”

from 29th June to 1st July 2017. 30 participants were enrolled for Basic Course on

Hydraulics and Pneumatics.

The workshop had lecture sessions which were conducted at Sound Castings Pvt. Ltd. and

effective hands-on sessions conducted by faculty members at BOSCH-DKTE Center of

competance.

Prof. S. A. Soundattikar, Prof. B. B. Kabnure, Prof. V. R. Balwan, Prof. U. S. Bongarde and

Prof. R. D. Patil delivered expert lectures during the workshop. Prof Dr. V. R. Naik, Head of

Mechanical Engineering Department interacted with the participants during valedictory

function and guided in overall conduct of the workshop. Prof. S. A. Soundattikar co-

ordinated the workshop.

Industrial Automation Workshop for Sound Casting Pvt. Ltd.

Send off of Final year B.E. Mechanical Students. On 6th April 2017, MESA organized send-off function of final year Mechanical students. Prof.

(Dr.)V.R.Naik, HOD -(Mech.Engg.), Prof.V.P.Gaikwad addressed the students and offered best wishes

for their future. Mr. Tushar Sultanpure Diector, Sultanpure Textiles alumni of the Mechanical Engg. Department also addressed students and spoke bout career and entrepreneurship development.

During the program, many students expressed their feelings and gratitude towards the Institute and

Mechanical Engineering Department. During the same program Best Projects of year 2016-17 were also awarded to Asagekar Omkar, Bandekar Vaibhav , Bhagat Rohit and Patil Vishal for their project

entitled “ Sugarcane planting Equipment “ guided by Prof.S.S.Sutar.

Prof.U.S.Khade anchored this function. Faculty and supporting staff members from department were

present for the function.
