We had a Whale of a Time… On May 25 we hosted a grand re-opening celebration for Noah’s Ark. This past offseason, the entire attrac-tion saw a major renovation that included restoring the famous whale’s mouth entrance, and of course the squishy tongue! The event was part of Pittsburgh’s Bicentennial Celebration to commemorate the city’s 200 years of history. We thought it was fitting to showcase everything that makes Pittsburgh such a special place to live, work, and play in true Noah fashion—Two-by-two! Noah even showed up, or Pittsburgh Dad dressed as Noah, for a hilarious skit atop the rocking ark. If you missed out on all the fun, you can relive it by visiting our YouTube page (www.YouTube.com/KennywoodOfficial) or by scanning the QR code below!

Remembering Vic Kleman

Kennywood said goodbye to a true fanatic and friend earlier this month. Vic Kleman, known worldwide for his love of the Jack Rabbit, passed away on July 1 at the age of 83. It was just 14 months ago Vic piled up 95 consecutive rides on the Rabbit in celebration of its 95th anniversary. The mar-athon topped his 90 straight rides in 2010 and 80 consecu-tive rides in 2012 for his 80th birthday, and marked his

5,000th ride on the landmark wooden coaster.

Vic joined the Kennywood team for several seasons as a greeter at the Kennyville Cemetery during Phantom Fright Nights, and could always be counted on for a smile and pleasant demeanor. He will be buried in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Washington County, a cemetery for veterans.

Fun & Games!

Now & Then

Uh-oh! Looks like Kenny Kangaroo got a little

too dizzy on the Musik Express and scrambled

up a few of the things that make Kennywood

unique. Can you decipher these popular treats,

rides, and attractions?

Lucky is just one of Ken-nywood’s refreshment stands with some serious character. Designed by local architect Raymond Marlier, it features an art deco style façade. Built in 1931 as a root beer stand, today it serves up sweet fun-nel cakes and savory corn dogs. Interestingly, how the stand received its namesake has been lost to history. Here’s a fun fact—Last year alone it sold more than 72,700 corn dogs!
