Alumni Spotlight MARYBETH COSCIA-WEISS ('06) Please explain your career – title, daily responsibilities, what you like about your job… I have been employed at C.F Peters Corporation for the past 3 and half years. C.F. Peters is the New York office for the worldwide classical music publisher -- Edition Peters Group. We have two other offices in London and Leipzig. We represent several of today’s classical composers such as Sally Beamish, Jonathon Dove, George Crumb, Christian Wolff and most notably John Cage. My title is the New Music Rights and Distribution Assistant, which is technically a hybrid position. My day is split between working for the New Music Department and the Warehouse. What I love about my job is that there is always an element of surprise with each work day. My mornings consists of corresponding with my counterparts in Leipzig and London regarding registrations of new works to the American collecting societies. I also assist the Editorial department with creating and assembling covers and digital assets for new works and reprints. In the afternoon, I switch gears (and often shirts, it gets dusty out there!) and work in our warehouse. There, I fill orders from our large pool of world- wide vendors, pack and process packages for daily shipment. It is often physical work but we like to have fun with it. Earning Master's in Library Science from Queens College I love my job because it allows me to keep my musical roots close. I get to communicate and see new works firsthand from composers that I studied in school. I also get to attend performances whenever they occur. I even accompanied our Vice President to the BMI Student Composers Awards this past April, so there are also fun perks to the job. Do you think your life would have turned out differently if you had not attended Holy Trinity? Yes, my life would have been different if I didn’t attend Holy Trinity. I’m a firm believer that we meet certain people for a reason. Without the people and teachers that I met at Trinity, I do not think I would have ended up where I am. Without the encouragement from my teachers to pursue Music, I think I would be in a very different field. If I didn’t meet the people I did at Trinity, I would not have those relationships to learn and grow from. Currently works as a New Music Rights and Distribution Assistant for C.F. Peters Corporation Earned M.A. from Brooklyn College in Musicology and a B.S. from Adelphi in Music Performance

How did Holy Trinity help prepare you for lifeafter graduation? Holy Trinity helped prepare me for life aftergraduation in several ways. The Performing ArtsDepartment at Holy Trinity was a wonderful placeto immerse yourself in music and theatre. Notmany Catholic High Schools draw the talent poolthe way Holy Trinity does. I was able to bettermyself as a musician by learning from myclassmates. As for specific classes, Jazz Theory and Bandignited my passion for music. Mr. Jones is mybiggest influence from Trinity. He has anincredible wealth of musical knowledge which hepresents in an easy to digest and often hilariousmanner. Mr. Chorusey’s Folklore class helped methink critically about the books I read. Lastly, Ms.Moran’s AP Government class prepared me forthinking critically during the constant changes inour current affairs. I often find myself quoting Ms.Moran when I’m reading the latest news updates. What is your earliest memory of your “TitanExperience?”  My earliest memory of the “Titan Experience”took place in 7th grade. We took a field trip to see"Les Miserables" at HT. I was excited because it wasmy favorite musical and it would be the first time Isaw in person. I clearly recall sitting in my seat inthe theatre, looking at the stage and the orchestrapit. I remember turning to my friend and saying“This feels like home." What advice do you have for current Titans? First and foremost, have fun! Join that club youhave been eyeing for a while; it might turn into alifelong passion. Don’t be afraid to fail or makemistakes; your teachers and peers will help youlearn how to deal with those. Pray. My faithjourney has been interesting and I remember howopen and accepting Holy Trinity is when it comesto nurturing you on your faith journey. I learned alot of about my faith at HT; some of it is finallymaking sense today, so Holy Trinity has definitelymade a lasting impression on me. Lastly, remember the things that matter - your strongrelationships with your mentors, peers, friends, and God.
