1 Introduction
Search Analysis is a module of Amadeus Agency Insight, a next-generation business intelligence
suite of solutions and services designed for travel agencies.
Search Analysis is an analytical solution that gives instant insights into consumers’ travel
intentions. Built using historical data from over 150 million daily online searches stored in
Amadeus Master Pricer, the world’s leading low-fare search tool, Search Analysis shows which
destinations consumers are searching for, when they’re searching for them and which dates they
intend to travel.
With Search Analysis Amadeus customers can:
Identify destinations where they should be competitive
Increase sales by anticipating demand and adjusting the offer accordingly
Increase marketing campaigns efficiency by better targeting customers’ travel needs
2 Access to Search Analysis
Search Analysis can be accessed at this web address:
https://travel-intelligence.com
Only users belonging to travel agencies subscribed to the Search Analysis module have access
permission. To access the tool, the user just needs to introduce in the log in screen (see image
below) the e-mail provided to Amadeus at implementation time together with the corresponding
password assigned to the user by Amadeus:

The first time the user connects, he needs to click on “I forgot my password” to create a password.
After entering the email address and clicking on the “Send me the instructions” button, the user
will receive an email containing a link to set the password. When clicking on this link, the following
screen is displayed:
Once the new password is set, the user will be able to log in Search Analysis.
3 Inside the module
Through the following sections the module will be explained in detail, together with all the
functionalities included in the user interface.
3.1 Dashboards
3.1.1 Common prompts
Market
If you have subscribed to several markets then it is possible using this prompt to select the one to
be analysed.

To do so, click on the prompt drop down list:

O&D Cities
There are two main options to use this prompts:
- By selecting an origin and destination (from and to text boxes)
- By selecting a custom set (see section on custom sets for details on how to manage them)
Selecting an origin and destination:
The ”O&D Cities” prompt needs to be set to the value ”Specify”.
In the ”from” and ”to” text boxes, the values can then be set to ”*”, if all the airport should be
considered, or set to a city code (for example NYC).

3.1.2 By Search Period
Specific prompts
It is possible to specify the Search Period, i.e. the period taken into account in the analysis
By clicking on the ”by” drop down list, the granularity can be modified and the user can choose
between Year, Quarter, Month and Week.

The ”Search Period” drop down list is used to select the period itself.
Analysis
These analyses are based on the search dates. i.e. if the search period selected is June 2013, only
the searches done during this month will be taken into account. The departure dates chosen by the
consumers are only used to calculate the advance search period and the trip duration.
The following information is displayed:
- Top O&D Searched
The 10 most searched city pairs are displayed. The number of searches for the last year period is
displayed too for comparison.
- Top Destinations Searched
The 10 most searched destinations are displayed, with the possibility to do a year-on-year
comparison.
- Advance Search Period

How long before departure do the consumers start searching for a trip? This KPI displays the
number of searches done for each advance period.
- Trip Duration
This KPI provides the trip duration people search for.
3.1.3 Highest Variations
Specific Prompts
Filter
It is possible to choose three options:
World: No filter is applied on the origin of the O&D
Extended: only the origins that are part of the market selected and the ones less than 150
kilometers away from the market are taken into account
Market: Only the origins that are part of the market selected are taken into account
Dates
The user can select the dates to compare. This is done at month level, i.e. it is possible to compare
May 2013 with May 2012.
Analysis
These analyses are based on the search dates. I.e. if the search period selected is June 2013, only
the searches done during this month will be taken into account. The departure and return dates
chosen by the consumers are not taken into account. The variations are calculated in relative value
(%).

O&D Largest Increases
This KPI show the city pairs for which the volume of searches has increased the most between the
two periods selected.
Destinations Largest Increases
This KPI show the destinations for which the volume of searches has increased the most between
the two periods selected.
O&D Largest Decrease
This KPI show the city pairs for which the volume of searches has decreased the most between the
two periods selected.
Destinations Largest Decreases
This KPI show the destinations for which the volume of searches has decreased the most between
the two periods selected.
3.1.4 By Travel Period
Specific Prompts
Travel period
The user can select the start date of the travel period and the end date. This is done at day level,
i.e. it is possible to select the travel period from the 25/12/2013 to the 02/01/2014. There is no
minimum, or maximum, length. Additionally, it is possible to further filter the result for week -end
searches, defining the departure and the return days to be considered for a week -end.

These analyses are based on the departure date. I.e. if the travel period selected is June 2013,
only the searches for which the departure date is in June 2013 will be taken into account. The
return date is only used to calculate the trip duration and is not used to filter the data. The search
dates are only used to calculate the advance search period.
The following information is displayed:
Top O&D Searched
The 10 most searched city pairs are displayed. The number of searches for the last year period is
displayed too for comparison.
Top Destinations Searched
The 10 most searched destinations are displayed, with the possibility to do a year -on-year
comparison.
Advance Search Period
How long before departure do the consumers start searching for a trip? This KPI displays the
number of searches done for each advance period.
Trip Duration
This KPI provides the trip duration people search for.

Searches by search date
This KPIS shows the number of searches done on each day over all the historical data stored. It is
possible to zoom on particular period of time by selecting this period of time with the mouse.
Searches by travel date
This KPIS shows the number of searches done for all possible departure dates. It is possible to
zoom on particular period of time by selecting this period of time with the mouse.
Searches by search day
This KPIS shows the number of searches done on given week day (Monday, Tuesday ...) over all
the historical data stored.
Searches by travel day
This KPI shows the number of searches done for a departure on a given week day (Monday,
Tuesday...) over all the historical data stored.
3.2 Data Export
The data from each analysis can be viewed in a csv file format thanks to the button.
The data can be importer to Excel for further analysis.
The export functionality has data volume limitations:
Analysis by Search Period: 50 O&D or destinations
Analysis by Travel: 200 O&D or destinations
Highest Variations Analysis: 1000 O&D or destinations

3.3 Custom sets of O&Ds
A user can create its own set of O&Ds, so he can generate the analysis for the O&Ds he is really
interested in.
3.3.1 Access custom sets
To access the web page used to manage the custom sets, the user has to click on the button,
which is usually situated at the end of the O&D prompts.
This functionality is available in all the dashboards but the Highest Variation one.
3.3.2 Create a new set
1. Click on the ”New” button
2. Enter a name for the set in the ”Name” text box
3. Enter the O&Ds that will be part of the set

Search Analysis is based on the Fare search logs from:

The data is refreshed on a weekly basis, on Sundays. This means that it will be possible to see the data up to the Saturday of the previous week.
