Founded in 1972 by the late William Neufeld, a master tool maker and Christian missionary,

AMAMCO Tool was built on the ideals

of precision, craftsmanship,

and integrity.

From its early years in Mr. Neufeld’s

barn, our company has grown

into an international enterprise,

headquartered in Duncan,

South Carolina.

Today, many top product designers

and engineers view AMAMCO Tool as

integral to their processes. You can

find our tools in manufacturing plants

around the world, where they’re used

in industries as diverse as aerospace,

defense, automotive, and composite

components.

Compression Router

Designed for the manufacturer of

the F-35 fighter jet, this compression

router is key to certain types of

manufacturing with composite

materials. It is the product of exacting

design, master craftsmanship, and

the very best materials.

Advanced opposing geometries

designed to compress the composite

layers, provide precision cutting

action to eliminate delamination in

composite materials. CVD diamond

coating is grown onto the carbide

substrate, to give you a hard, long-

lasting cutting surface.

In a distance cut test with industry leaders, this router outperformed the nearest competitor by 55%.

Slow Spiral Router

This is an excellent router for

composites, and you can use it as a

rough cutter or finisher (depending on

type and thickness of material). The

slower helix reduces cutting force to

prevent delamination.

Diamond Cut Router

This is a very versatile tool.

Depending on your application and

our customization, it can be a rough-

cut or finish router. The more flutes

we add, the finer the cut. For abrasive

applications, we can manufacture it

with a CVD diamond coating for long

tool life.

COATINGS: CVD Diamond Coated or Uncoated

We can customize the tool for your particular application. For thicker panel

composites, we make this tool with

six or eight flutes. For thin panel

composites (< .125”), we can add

as many as you need, to reduce the

characteristic flex and pull with

thinner materials. We can also

configure the spirals for up cutting

or down cutting.

Double Margin Drill

Well-known in the aerospace industry,

this tool is used by top manufacturers

of both civilian and military aircraft,

including fighter jets and combat

helicopters. Known for producing holes

within extreme tolerances (≤.003”), it is

available with several point geometries,

several shank options, single-diameter,

drill reamer, and drill-drill-ream

configurations, all depending on your

specific material and application.

Eight Faceted Composite Drill

The point geometries of this

double fluted drill make it ideal for

composites. That’s why it’s become

standard equipment for certain

aerospace applications. The point

concept is similar to the long taper on

the AM12FH drill.

The side angles serve to clean up any

fraying or delamination after the point

exits the material. Like all of our high

performance tools, we can customize

this drill for your application.

Diamond Coated Composite Drill— Helical

With its diamond coating for long life,

118º point, 8.5º reaming taper, and

5º flute helix, this is one of AMAMCO

Tool’s primary composite drills. The

geometries make for easy penetration

without breakout or delamination.

In the aerospace industry,

it’s known variously as a “pencil drill,”

“composite drill,” or “drill reamer.”

The design ensures a clean hole

because any potential delamination

created by the point upon exit, is

immediately cleaned up by the taper.

The four flutes ream the hole to an

extremely tight tolerance.

APPLICATION: Composite

TYPE OF USE: Computer Numerical Control, Hand Drill

COATINGS: CVD Diamond Coated or Uncoated

Composite Drill—Straight Flute

Similar in design to the AM12FH,

but with some important differences,

the AM1LFS features straight flutes—

making this a great tool for hand

drilling applications. The drill easily

cuts through composites, and its low

thrust allows for a smooth exit.

7

Page 8: AMAMCO_Tool_Brochure.pdf

Diamond Coated Drill—Short Taper

We developed this drill for a military

jet, in which the exit area beyond the

hole limited the length of the taper.

We solved this by reducing the point

taper to 25º. The drill makes

a similarly clean and consistent hole,

as its AM12FH counterpart, without

breakout or delamination. So it is

ideal for the application for which it

was developed.

Single Flute Drill

Designed by AMAMCO (patent

pending), this single flute drill

features geometries that allow for

very low torque. It is excellent for

drilling uniform holes in Kevlar and

composites.

Drill Reamer

This tool was developed for hand

drilling composites and composite

stacks, and is used on highly sensitive

aircraft materials. The 5º flute helix

allows for ease of penetration with

relatively little force by the operator.

The reamer step reduces or

eliminates burr in stacks containing

aluminum or titanium. We design

drill points for specific materials.

Recommended speeds are based

on applications (for example, a

stack containing Titanium will require

about 500 rpm, while aluminum can

be drilled at 3500 rpm or higher).

Computer Numerical Control feed

rates will be determined by your

application and setup.

Three Stage Reamer

Developed for the Boeing 787,

for hand reaming very close-tolerance

holes in composite materials, this

reamer has proven very effective for

CFRP/Titanium and CFRP/Aluminum

stacks.

The tool uses two steps and lower

transition angles to eliminate exit

fraying in composite materials.

The geometries also reduce cutting

forces, making it ideal for reaming

Titanium.

Three Step Reamer

This tool is similar to the Three Stage

Reamer, but with traditional transition

angles, making it ideal for uniform,

perfectly round holes in composite

stacks containing Aluminum or

Titanium.
